The Crane and Robin was our best lunch on Galiano Island - so good that we came back a second day. The staff was friendly, and the harbor views are hard to beat on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Seating can be tight when it's busy, but we loved sitting at the bar overlooking the water. The Superflux IPA on draft was my favorite beer on the island. The tuna tacos were the standout: fresh tuna, a satisfying vegetable crunch, and a delicious sauce served on corn tortillas. My wife loved both the cod chowder and the vegetable chowder. The salmon sandwich was filling and came with a good potato salad. The tuna was less successful as a sandwich, where the smaller amount of fish seemed to get lost among the other ingredients and flavors. It's too bad they weren't open for dinner during the September shoulder season, we would have gladly chosen this over the other options on the island. Deeelicious! Friendly staff. Accommodated our party of 17, which is a tad much; so, we broke up, including sitting on the bar bench. We all loved their homemade salsa and hummus with pea shoots and garlic. We've been having sandwiches and tacos in the past week across the Southern Gulf Islands. Their tuna and chicken entrees had to have been the best. To find this little gem out in the middle of nowhere with a gorgeous view of the dock made Galiano Island all the more special! read more

Little pub at the Montague Harbor Marina definitely punches above its weight when it comes to food. THE ROSES: Lovely rustic ambience. Very pleasant staff. Reasonable prices. Creative menu that has many real treats (their fish tacos are highly recommended, as is their cod chowder). Reasonable portions that satisfy without leaving you feeling overloaded. THE THORNS: Menu seems a little bit on the limited side (but to be fair, what they do they do very well). Many pub staples (burgers, fish and chips) are MIA on this menu. Outdoor dining only and no apparent patio heaters might make this a challenge on a cool, drizzly BC day. THE VERDICT: Great food and service outweigh any niggling criticisms here. Great spot for lunch! Friendly staff and tasty food. Tacos were really nice though there was a fair amount of liquid so by the time I got to the last one the tortilla was a bit soggy. I also found a big fish bone when it decided to poke the inside of my mouth. Coconut chowder wasn't really a chowder but still really nice flavour. Would go again! read more

This great restaurant is located at Montague Marine Park, great views of the boats and water. Friendly service and great food. They had daily specials (food and drink) so I tried the mango margarita and it was delicious! Ordered the Crane and Robin House Salad with seared tuna. Totally hit the spot, lightly dressed with a miso dijon vinegarette. Loved the seeds they put on it as well, gave it a nice nutty flavour. We also had the seared tuna sandwich. This was great, bun was fresh and nicely toasted, tuna seared perfectly and tasted fresh. We enjoyed our lunch there just before we went for a paddle! We will definitely come back next time we visit Galiano. read more

The coconut corn chowder with cod... absolutely the best chowder (or soup, for that matter) I have enjoyed in my entire life. The consistency and flavors were perfect. The corn did not overtake the other flavors, as can sometimes happen. I ordered a large bowl; I wish I had another right now. Many raves from others around the table, particularly for the seared ahi tacos and sandos. I was tempted to ask for a taste, but then I'd have to share mine. Nope. The margaritas were also nicely done and the service was excellent. All a lovely surprise at this tucked away marina. read more

Situated right on the water, this place is a true gem. The place embodies the true Pacific Northwest vibe. With a view of the Montague marina and the beautiful waterfront view, this is the perfect place to stop for some cold beer and tacos. We each started off with a Hoyne Dark Matter and Pilsner, we cooled ourselves off on a hot sunny day. We got started the special of the day, a fish ceviche. This ceviche had some unique flavours (dill!) and was a good bite on a hot summer day. We proceeded to order some tacos, the tuna taco was my favourite. We ended our meal with a chocolate cake with fresh plum sauce. It's a cute place if you're looking for some good casual eats and drinks. Will be back next time I'm on the island! read more

My family had been coming here for years. Tonight we experienced a server who was extremely rude, condescending and full of entitlement, acting like a surly teenager who needs to grow up and learn some manners. There are other good restaurants on Galiano that I would check out first. read more

What a beautiful spot on the water with a beautiful view, friendly staff and fresh tacos! My friend's cod tacos were delicious - fresh, flavors and textures melded together well and all very filling! I got the seared tuna tacos upon my server's recommendation, but I liked the cod ones much better. On it's own, the seared tuna was ok, but in a taco, it didn't seem to work as well via the textures, flavor, etc. in my opinion. Taco sizes are huge though and I easily got full off of 2. Not knowing the tacos would be so big, my friend and I split a small smoked salmon chowder, which actually turned out to be a small bowl size (much bigger than expected!). The chowder was more on the thin/watery side and kind of tasted like it had some curry in it, but overall was ok. They also charge you for a small glass of water they bring you when seated, which I was surprised to see when I got the bill ... But as a whole, I really enjoyed the location, vibe, friendly staff, and affordable fresh fish tacos, especially considering the view and definitely look forward to coming back another time. read more

Pleasantly surprised by healthy bistro-style meal thoughtfully made with fresh locally sourced ingredients. Be prepared to pay for water because no drinkable source. So you find yourself sitting on a sunny patio overlooking the harbor and you think to yourself, "this can't possibly get any better" and then someone brings you a delicious Hoyne beer and a plate of incredible salmon tacos and, well, it gets better. Plus, fast and friendly service too. I'm not on Galiano Island very often but when I am, The Crane and Robin will be a regular stop.Highly recommend it. read more

This is a great find, the food is superb. The salmon tacos were raved by my wife. I had the seared tuna sandwich which was great but the side salad was incredible. Great flavours! My husband and I were originally looking for The Sea Blush Cafe and found The Crane and Robin had recently taken over the space...so glad it did! The hostess (who was running the place alongside her husband / chef we later learned) was as friendly and accommodating as can be. She warmly welcomed us and our infant son for dinner and gave amazing recommendations. The salmon tacos were perfect and the green salad with seared tuna was fresh and delicious. Small but reasonable beer selection along with an amazing spot right on the marina make this a perfect spot for lunch or dinner. And fyi - the Yelp map has this place pinned completely wrong. A new place at the Montague Harbor Marina, the Crane and Robin has a lovely collection of tables by the water. To reach it, park along the main road and walk down through the marina parking lot and toward the water. We were enticed by the $6 margarita happy hour, but the margaritas were disappointing: frozen and weak. The food is much better. Two of us had the salmon tacos, which featured fresh fish, a green pea hummus (better than it sounds, trust me), and pickled onions. A very tasty combination atop fresh, pliable tortillas. The third diner had a cod chowder (flavorful, if brothy) and the shrimp & crab cakes (tasty, but small). Service was extremely slow but the tastiness of the food, plus the waterside table, made up for it. read more

Went to this place for a quick lunch after activities all morning. Sign at door said please wait to be seated, locked eyes with server multiple times resulting in nothing but glares. Got seated ten minutes later. Prior to our order taking, server was laughing and smiling with other customers she was serving however when she got to our table she gave no expression or friendliness. After browsing the menu we came across the salad which had the additional option to add protein. After a long morning we asked whether the kitchen was able to make a salmon with a side of salad (we wanted more protein then greens). She said she will ask the kitchen. The kitchen window was right next to our table, when she was asking the chef the chef was a little confused with her wording asking her to clarify. I saw that our serve rolled her eyes and said I don't know what they want and seemed annoyed by our request. This made me very angry from her indirect rudeness in addition to the wait and attitude while taking our order. It made me confused as to why she picked the service industry if she's able to be openly rude in front of her customer. Upon asking for the bill she said she'll be right with us as she is doing something else. Then I see her attending to other guest that have asked her for help after I had asked her for the bill. Through my frustrations, I asked a different server and she was very kind to bring me my bill and provide some salmon skin for my dog. Although this restaurant has nice views, the food was very mediocre and the service was one of the worst I've seen. read more
