Fantastic seafood stop! They've got an amazing rule - If you see it in our cases not frozen, it never has been frozen. Freshness is their biggest asset! Man those shrimp were fantastic. Don't expect to come to black rock for a wine and dine experience, this is pretty much a spot to pick up fresh boiled seafood, and take it to a picnic spot, or back home, but it's some of the sweetest, freshest tasting shrimp around. Popular seafood pickup spot in Anacortes. Parking is easy as there's enough space for 6 cars. Pretty transactional. Don't expect bubbly customer service like Shrimp Shack. We come here for Dungeness crab. Shrimp are small but good. We usually drive to Deception Pass State Park, find a table, and eat our seafood there. We bring our usual party utensils, seafood tools, gloves, and rice. Make sure you check the Jet Carrier Training Schedule. It can get really loud if you don't time it right. read more

We cane here for the first time and honestly..there was one older man that was very helpful and sweet and provided us details about the spotted shrimp options, but the two ladies at the front register were giving us very unpleasant stares, no greeting just a total and we were out the door. Those ladies did not make us feel very welcomed which kind of sucks cause they are representing the company at the front desk! We came with 7 people and I asked them what their experience was like that they thought exactly the same thing. Only reason for the two stars is for the older man that helped us. They had GREAT oysters! We got the small sized shucked oysters that came in the little container and they were bigger than expected, very filling! We also got the candied smoked salmon and it was so good. Service was great! Went here to see if they had any crab for Christmas Eve. I did not call ahead but was told that they could sell me 3 crab. The ones in the case were beautiful 1.5 to 2 lbs. I paid them $59.67. when I got to my truck I opened the cooler and they had sold me 3 crab measured 4" across the body. I do not believe that they are even legal to have let alone sell. These guys just decided to stick it to me on Christmas. They advertise $13.50 per lb. all 3 crab weigh 1.1 lbs and they charged me almost $60. Merry Christmas guys! read more

I don't know how the food is because I was immediately yelled at to take my medically necessary service dog outside. I am a disabled veteran and I need to have my service dog with me. Top notch service AND top notch seafood!! My wife and I stopped here for some fresh king salmon. It was almost the end of the day so they only had a small piece of salmon in the fresh case. OMG...thank you Black Rock for saving my Mother's Day! I had stopped at another nearby oyster place but they were out of half-shelled goodness, so I Yelped for the next closest place and discovered Black Rock. They're a little off the beaten path, but well worth the trip for their great selection of fresh seafood - not to mention their unbeatable prices. I was able to procure two dozen shigoku oysters for only $20/dozen (that's about 1/3 what I would have paid in a restaurant) and they were AHHHHmazingly fresh. The oysters were a hit at our Mother's Day getaway - the only problem was that I didn't get more. I will 100% return here the next time I need the good stuff! read more

For the halibut, I took a trip out to Black Rock Seafood today, with crabby thoughts and feeling a little shrimpy. The customer before me took the last of the shrimp, but more would be in later. The owner pointed out that the crab wasn't that good, missing legs and such, as was just the tail end of the batch of crabs, more in later but I wasn't waiting. Rather than continuing to feel crabby, I bought some scallops (garlic, butter and lemon at home) as well as some halibut for tomorrow. The scallops were yummy, just finished them. Fair price for fresh scallops. Cooked with garlic and butter, lemon added to finish. I'll have to go back for shrimp and crab. Darn. Covid Report: two customers maximum in shop, staff and all customers were wearing masks, plexiglass shield over cash register... Doesn't get much better. Only flaw noted was there were the painted lines for social distancing... only about 5 feet apart or less. My daughter was in town visiting...of course I was over the moon. She lives in Southern California and so thought frozen Alaskan King crab legs were awesome. Lol. We educated her a few years ago as to what fresh Dungeness crab is. We usually catch it ourselves but since we're out of season we found Black Rock Seafood. We made the trip from Coupeville to Anacortes and were pleasantly surprised! We purchased 4 fresh caught but cooked crab at $12.99 lb. which is much cheaper than the frozen, uncooked offerings at our local grocery stores. They even cleaned them for free!! We also bought 50 oz of x-small, shucked oysters and 2 dozen x-small shelled oysters. All less than $160!! We will be returning. Thank you to the 2 sweet gentlemen that served us. . read more

Great, fresh seafood from the region. Not cheap because it is actually fresh and local, but not over priced either. Market rates. Cool little spot ons sode road, almost out of the back of the house feel. We were visiting town and grabbed some great salmon and some big local prawns. Stopped by for the first time today on my way back home from Anacortes to grab some live crab. Young girl and boy went to fetch the crab and I asked if I could come see the operation and she politely said I couldn't. Staff seemed nice enough, so I trusted them. I got home opened gave me a crab without claws (or 1 mini claw which was inedible). I understand they all have their casualties, but I would have like to be asked or told...or let me pick my own like other markets do. I didn't see any of these clawless ones in their cold display case? Now I am wondering if they weighed them correctly and over charged me. Shady...I won't be back. read more

A bit off the beaten path, expecting it to be down by the water somewhere, and a bit sketchy-looking when you drive up. Once inside though, you know it's the real deal and you're just where you want to be. Wonderful selection of fresh and frozen seafood. The frozen is labeled, dated, and vacuum sealed in a food saver bag so it's as easy as taking it home and tossing it in the freezer. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. The freshest seafood at reasonable prices. Where else can you get fresh halibut at $18.99 per pound. It little bit off the beaten path but worth the effort. Compares to the Wild Salmon in Seattle but much less expensive. We stop here every time we visit Anacortes(about once per month) to stock up for a weeks worth of fish. Great customer service.
