Some of the best fried chicken I've had!!! We tried 2 dark meat dinners. One Nashville Hot (hubs favorite) and one regular (I enjoyed both). Greens, cole slaw, and Mac & cheese were all so so good. The coleslaw is so fresh and creamy. Very tasty!!! Potatoes were not bad. We also had two breasts Tennessee style. I'm saving mine for lunch tomorrow so idk how it was. The hubs said it was ok but he likes the regular or Nashville much better. I talked to a woman while waiting for my order and she said I must try the cornbread next time and trust me there will be a next time!!! It's an unassuming place. In my opinion not great ambiance for dining there. But I live too far to take it home, so... The chicken is super. I got the 2 legs and 2 thighs with 2 sides (for$10). It has been brined so it is very moist and perfectly cooked. Seems to have a bit of a subtle marinade that adds flavor (including garlic). The batter is very light and nicely seasoned. My family visited me from out of town and we were looking for something different than fast food. When we arrived there wasn't anyone else there and it's a shame because the food was terrific! We all got the 6 wings and thought we never had chicken with that texture ever. It was soft and fell of the bone. Great chicken! We got 6 meals including the half chicken, white, wings and strips in all three flavors. My whole family loved it! The breading is well seasoned and crispy and the chickens is juicy deliciousness. The Texas potatoes are seasoned the same and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The cornbread is moist and sweet and the coleslaw isn't your average finely shredded carrots and cabbage but big bites of veggie goodness (and I don't usually like coleslaw). Fresh and quick - they were busy and initially gave a 20 minute wait since we ordered at the counter but it took far less time and they brought it out to our car. First off, the deal-breaker: person who took our order took off his mask right after taking our order, then put it mostly back on when giving us our order. I didn't see any hand sanitizing after handling the mask either. We did not feel comfortable with these procedures, especially in a small restaurant like that. Food took 10 minutes when no one else was there, maybe due to being understaffed. Ketchup bottles were sticky and gross to use. Otherwise the space was clean. Food was very good: we got the chicken sandwich which had an excellent flavor, greens, and wedges--all good and flavorful. Menu is small, so that's an automatic like. I'm from down south, and this chicken is nostalgically seasoned and cooked like restaurants in Nashville, Memphis, and Chattanooga. Compared to other places in Columbus this place definitely is the restaurant coming for the crown . The sides could need more variety, but the chicken makes up for it. read more

I was attracted to this restaurant by favorable comparisons to another local Nashville-style chicken recipe facility. I will agree that it was better than that other location, however it was not quite as good as Hattie B's in Nashville. I ordered the Chicken Strips with Potatoes and Cole Slaw. The sides were excellent. The tenders were juicy, appropriately spicy, and covered in a different style of breading than most other fried chicken purveyors. I really liked it. The spices in the breading are not as complex as that from Hattie B's. Hattie's mix starts of with the taste of the heat, and ends with a sweet aftertaste that is probably from brown sugar, but that's just a guess. My taste buds sure do approve, though. So while The Crispy Coop is not quite my all-time favorite in the Nashville Hot style, it is easily my local favorite. I shall return! read more

Great chicken sandwiches, I've tried most of the sides and those also don't disappoint! ...The only strange thing about Crispy Coop is that it seems like for pick up and delivery, they don't start making your order until you arrive. This often leads to standing in the store for 15 minutes even if you show up after your pickup time. Delivery times are also a lot longer than they estimate because of this. First time at this place. The chicken is tasty and crispy. The Nashville hot has a nice kick but is not obnoxious and the chicken underlying the sauce is tasty, juicy and satisfying. The macaroni and cheese was not as expected. It was a cavatappi pasta in what I felt was more of an alfredo-like sauce as opposed to your traditional mac and cheese. With that said, it was very tasty. The greens are on point, especially if you don't like a high vinegar greens. The slaw was fresh, crunchy, and hearty. The price with the extra side and a drink (4 piece dark) came out to about 15 bucks before tip. I recommend this place and will be back to try some of the other options from the menu. read more

Wow. Just as we were beginning to become complacent and resigned to the reality that we had run out of take-out options during this never-ending pandemic, I drove by The Crispy Coop this afternoon and decided to look up their menu. I ordered for my family of seven a range of strips, white meat breasts (Nashville and traditional), wings, Mac and cheese, cornbread and Texas potatoes. Everyone in my family (all of whom are picky eaters) commented on how great their dinners were, and I can't wait to sneak to the fridge later tonight to eat some leftovers. The chicken is juicy with a perfectly cooked coat, and the sweet cornbread has the consistency of wedding cake. Fantastic experience. After reading some of the reviews, I thought to try this place. It was actually very good. The food was fresh, flavorful, and generous with most sides. There were not a whole lot of the texas potatoes with my meal after requesting them as my two sides. My husband got greens along with mac and cheese for his sides. His portions were generous. I live in the Grandview area and got excited when saw the sign for this new business go up a while ago. So when I realized today was their grand opening I took a few of my friends out to get some food. I would like to be honest about my experience because I really would love to see this business succeed. The location is in a decent spot and it has great curb appeal with their nice logo. The inside felt minimalistic yet clean so no real complaints there. The first issue is the fact that it took 3 of us exactly 30 minutes to get our food. My problem is that there were only around 5 orders in front of us and this isn't their first rodeo. They've simply changed their name moved down the street and definitely did not run as smoothly as they should have. The pain with the longer than comfortable wait time could have been mitigated with an apology from what appeared to be a co-owner after he handed me my food. Something as simple as a "Thanks for coming out today. Sorry for the wait. We do hope you enjoy!" would have gone a long way and I would have left a lot happier and understanding. Secondly, we all ordered sandwiches with different levels of heat. They put all of the orders together with no indication to what sandwiches had what levels of heat. Just go buy a marker and initial it! Lastly, that didn't really end up being an issue after all as I don't think they know what HEAT is. I got the hottest sandwich, yet none of them had any real spice. Now the compliments: The chicken was cooked VERY well. The slaw is also very good and the Mac and cheese is so good that I think Hot Chicken take over night be in some trouble there.
