Since they don't take reservations we arrived about 6:30 and our party of 6 waited to eat outdoors. They were very busy, which was great to see. The food and service was excellent. Great service, friendly staff. Awesome food. They need something to keep the bees/yellowjackets from attacking you and your food. No gluten free options, if they did itwould be amazing. We were in Tarrytown for a concert on Halloween Saturday. When we were finally able to find parking, we wiggled and squeezed our way down Main Street. The restaurant was buzzing but we were still able to find a space at the bar. First let me say that the bar ran like a well oiled machine. I don't think that it took more than 5 minutes to get our drinks; which was amazing considering the mass of people inside. We were later able to sit at the bar and ordered empanadas. As a Latina woman, I always prided myself on my empanadas. These empanadas put mine to shame. Crisp, flaky crust, well seasoned and generous filling. Just out of this world. When we were about to leave, Meg (the manager) offered us a plate of pork wings as the person who had ordered them apparently had left the bar. Icky, sticky, sweet "wings" with a bit of a tang. Out of this world. I'm so glad that we decided against hitting the Lobster truck. I would have missed out on some wonderful food. We will definitely be back once all of the tourists return to their respective areas. read more

The family and I decided to stop in here as to celebrate our grandmothers 75th birthday. As she is always referencing Cuban cuisine we figured this spot was perfect. The decor is nice although the space is quite small. The bartenders are extremely welcoming and make some pretty tasty drinks. Now that's as far as the compliments go. The Mojo pork is overly salted with a HUGE hit of lemon while the rice is reminiscent of those bagged vegetable rices you could get from anywhere just with way less seasoning than what I was served. The beans... yeah, they were very bland and not enjoyable. We also ordered a cubano in which we appreciated that it was pipping hot, however it left us underwhelmed with not much flavor at all. My grandmother ended up settling on chicken wings from a Cuban restaurant because she saw how disappointing the rest of the meal was. The mojo sauce for the wings were more enjoyable with the side veggies served rather then the meal itself. All in all, I would not recommend this place for those who truly know Cuban food. On the other hand, if you're looking to just get drinks def stop in and see the bartenders!! They're great! read more

Not the greatest experience. First when we walked in no acknowledgement from the lady at the bar and no servers in sight. The rice and beans were so bland. No taste at all. The only thing that was OK was the veggie empanada. There was something wrong with ice machine according to the server and she had to end up bringing out my lemonade without ice on the third round. The first two lemonades that she brought me had black particles floating in the drink- gross. I can tell the server wanted to make a difference in the experience but unfortunately they need to start with changing the chef. Food was FAR from Cuban taste. My boyfriend and I decided to try this restaurant for lunch last week. The empanadas and pork wings were AMAZING! Full of flavor and came out quickly. He then had the burger and I had the Cuban-- both were just okay. The meat on my sandwich was extremely dry and didn't taste like much; the burger on the other hand had so many different flavors that it was difficult to figure out what it wanted to be. Server was nice, but didn't seem to know much about the food (couldn't describe spices/dressings). This place is definitely a cute addition on Main St. and we will give it another shot! read more

Attempted to try this place for the first time. Can't say much for the food, as the service was awful. The two patrons there, left as I asked for a table outside in an off peak time. Was not offered a drink while I waited for the code so I could order but ended up leaving after waiting 10 min with no one else there. In my opinion, service is EVERYTHING! Was meeting a friend in the area for lunch and he suggested this spot. Good suggestion. Friendly staff, good service, good sized portions and excellent food. We all got sandwiches (i got the chicken) and I got Yuca Fries. Sandich was gigantic for the price and the fries were delicious. My friend got a pork sandwich and regular fries (i tried a few of the latter-they were also very good) and really enjoyed his sandwich. On 12/19/2020, we ordered two el Cubano and sides of rice and black beans. We are American Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent, married for over 44 years and know our ethnic cuisine. We have eaten at many Cuban restaurants, both nationally and internationally - including most recently Havana, Cuba. In all candor, the El Cubano was acceptable, however, the rice and black beans were an absolute disaster. I have never had better Cuban food in my life. The ambiance is old Havana mixed with modern touches and family memorabilia that sprinkles the wall that reminds you that the Cuban chef here really knows what he's doing. The cocktails are bomb and their wines by the glass list is stellar. I had the empanadas. All of them. And I ordered more to take home with me for the next day. They are cooked to perfection. I had their classic Cuban sandwich which tasted like the I had stepped back in time; it was everything I hoped it was going to be. The flan tastes like someone who must have a secret recipe that goes generations back. It melted in my mouth. The service was great. I was greeted by a gorgeous blonde woman who was also the owner. She made me feel at home and her kind smile welcomed us back any time. I told her we would be back next week. I feel so lucky this place is only ten minutes away. Oh, also the music is on point. Cute spot, great empanadas but for me its just ok. Service was very slow , waiter did not seem very knowledgable of any of the dishes. Mojito is just lemon juice and you may want to ask for beans on the side as there are more beans than rice and they put everything together. If you are latina/o you cannot appreciate this because it lacks the true flavor, garlic etc. Lastly the drinks ....also pure lime juice. Atmosphere is nice, place is clean and good music . read more

Pretty decent restaurant. Came in for dinner during the week recently. My first impressions were that the restaurant is very small, and doesn't allow much room for spreading out. We had to squeeze behind a couple at a two-top to get to our table, less than 3 feet away from them. I've personally enjoyed the COVID regulations of needing to be spaced farther apart in restaurants because I don't want to hear the conversation of the table next to me, and I'd rather they not hear mine. We started out with mojitos, which were well done. I had the Verde Fresca mojito, which was interesting having the cucumber; but enjoyed the Abbey Tango mojito, which has mango a lot more. My fiancée had the Abbey Tango and Flamingo mojitos and enjoyed them both. To start we shared the picadillo, shrimp, and guava cheese empanadas, all of which were enjoyable but maybe a little too small. They had minimal filling and I was left wanting more. We also shared an order of tostones. The mojo was just okay, and the tostones needed a hefty sprinkling of salt to finish them off. I had the traditional Cuban sandwich which was delicious. I appreciated having more roasted pork than ham. My fiancée had the ropa vieja which she also enjoyed. Service was fine, no issues there. We'll definitely be back to try more entrees. read more

I couldn't wait to eat at this place but was sadly disappointed. The service was poor. They sat us at a table that was not leveled and we had to hold onto our drinks so they didn't sliding off the table. People who came in after us received drinks and meals before us and the waiter needs more training. I did not find staff to be friendly and the waiter was TERRIBLE!!! We went for a nice run at the Rockefeller Preserve then found this nice place and sat outside to carbo-load. The food was great--felt fresh, clean and not overly prepared. I don't know what happened to this place. I ate there this afternoon after being away for about 8 months and the food was under par. The Medianoche was dry and in the past they had a chimichurri sauce available to use but not anymore. When I asked for it they said the only thing they had was mojo (I think that's how you spell it) which was eons away from chimichurri. I also ordered flan to go that is listed and homemade but it was awful! It tastes packaged to me and was too eggy and dry as well. I don't think I'll go back again read more

Had the Ropa Vieja and it was a very generous portion of food. The only ever so slight complaint was that I thought it could use a little more flavor but if you don't regularly eat homemade Cuban food you would not have any complaints. I love ropa vieja and it was just slightly less flavorful than other ones I've had. That said, it was a great meal and the people in the restaurant seem like the kind of people you want to support. Visited on Memorial Day weekend. Pulled pork sandwich wasn't good! There was no texture with the meat. Apparently not fresh, and had a consistency of peanut butter. The bartender was slow and less attentive in serving drinks. One of the kitchen helpers kept coming out of the kitchen and hanging all over his girlfriend. The girlfriend was with a friend and were clearly drinking for free. The theory of a Cuban restaurant is excellent, but this place needs to work on being better. read more

I really wanted to love this place .. but unfortunately, first impressions are everything. My friends and I came in on a Friday evening, around 6pm or so. We were seated and ordered drinks. Since we were waiting on more people in our party, we didn't order food right away. We weren't asked if we wanted appetizers, but it's okay. After waiting quite a while for drinks, we ordered appetizers, waited quite a while again. Our last party member arrived so she ordered drinks and we were THEN able to order food. We were asked if we wanted more drinks but .. preferred. Food took much longer than anticipated. to wait until we had food. Finally got our food, ordered more drinks ... the drinks took really long. It looked like the bartender was overwhelmed and needed a hand, understandable. All this time, the manager/owner (I'm unsure) consistently walked by us and acknowledged every customer EXCEPT our table. Ultimately, after what felt like way too long to be at a restaurant, we were given our bill. It was only then, we were approached by the manager/owner .. asking us if we needed to-go containers (there was another group waiting for our table, so I'm sure that's why she came to us), whatever. While trying to finish our drinks, the manager/owner stated "you can finish your drinks, no pressure". Right before we walked out, we were given a voucher to return to the restaurant "because we waited really long and she apologizes, so sorry". Best part? - we met up with some people we knew outside of the restaurant and she approached us saying "do you guys still want to come inside? I bet they're telling you what a bad experience they had and how horrible we are." We all felt like that was really unprofessional. 3 stars- Sandwiches were good. Decor was really nice.
