Tl;dr: A coffee shop that's more than just a cup, but offering community. Food: This coffee shop has your standard coffee offerings, but where they set themselves apart are their signature drinks. I tried The Kindred (named after Octavia Butler's now classic novel) which is a toasted honey latte. This had a wonderful blend of coffee and the sweet honey syrup. I also tried the Settlement latte which is named after the African American community in this part of Prince William County. If you want to grab something to eat, they also have breakfast and lunch food options as well. Vibes: One of the best parts of this coffee shop! It's more than getting a cup of coffee; they've put a lot of thought into the decorations here which celebrate Black authors and artists. Perhaps the friendliest coffee shop I have ever been to. The owner and her staff were nothing short of friendly and gracious. I ordered a delicious avocado toast and a delectable iced matcha latte. The matcha had no added sugar which is right up my alley. I practically inhaled my light mid morning meal. What a treat! The interior is perfect. I liked everything about this place. The people are lovely- well informed about what is on their menus and how to make it to your liking. The shop decor is stylish, with books, paintings, a mix of coffee shop tables, couches, decor that is local and themed. The food and coffee are both delicious and specific to this shop. Love love love this place! The coffee is DELICIOUS and they are creative with the seasonal options. The service is beyond top notch, every single person I've come across has been so delightful to interact with. The ambiance is so cute, I've sat with a book and read here, I've also brought in my laptop to work, it's a great space! I love going out to different coffee places daily, and my favorite by far is The Culture Cup! The owner and staff are so kind and welcoming. They know how to accommodate with grace and kindness. They listen and are experts in making all sorts of coffee drinks. I LOVE their Lattes! They also have a chalkboard that lists some delicious sandwich options. I like the croissant bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. The avocado toast is good too! The decor is beautiful. Comfortable chairs, and sofa with coffee tables that makes it feel like a nice living room. I love this coffee shop! The people who work there, which I suspect are often the owners, are lovely and eager to make your order perfect. The breakfast sandwiches and muffins I've had there are always excellent and I usually get one of their seasonal drinks that are named after influential people like Langston Hughes or Tony Morrison. My fiancé and I stopped by this coffee shop after our first dance class at Arthur Murray next-door. The location itself is open and well maintained. I loved the seasonal offerings for Black History Month as the February coffee options were still up. One latte called the Maya Angelo caught my eye. I loved the simple, thoughtful decorations. The location has plenty of pictures of noteworthy, historical figures and beautiful mirrors. We opted for a dirty, chai iced. I am particular about my dirty chai, and I specifically asked if they use pre-prepared chai mix like teavana or a powder. I was very impressed when the lady behind the bar mentioned that she makes the chai concentrate herself with vanilla bean and spices they were incredibly accommodating as I also do half oat milk and half almond milk to my coffees to have the perfect blend of thick and flavorful (without the extra cholesterol). The coffees were absolutely delicious. Certainly worth the price point and handcrafted. The only note I could make was that there was a lot of ice used and I wanted more beverage. I am certain that we will be visiting this location after our dance classes :) read more

Settlement Late and croissant with bacon jalapeño and cheese is what I chose today, hard to pick from the selected menu everything looked like it would be scrumptious. When they're open it's great. Fantastic coffee, kind and quick service, good food, comfy seating. But 5 separate times now I've driven from an half hour away just for their coffee for their shop to be closed during typical work hours. I stumbled across The Culture Cup yesterday - but they weren't open. So I drove by this morning - they were open - turns out TODAY (Sept. 25, 2023) is their first day open! It's in the space previously occupied by a small organic cupcake shop that went out of business. It's located in the retail complex called "The Marketplace at Madison Crescent" at the intersection of U.S. 15 & U.S. 29 in Gainesville, VA. I walked in this morning, was immediately greeted by the owner Nikki. I scanned the menu board and ordered a cold brew (they currently only offer one size). The cold brew was excellent! Strong and delicious! I suggested that down the road they offer some larger cup sizes. They offer some limited sandwich and baked good selections - have not tried any of those out yet. I had the pleasure of checking out The Culture Cup!!! I love the seasonal drink options, teas, pastries, and sandwiches!!! We enjoyed a savory Ali Latte, chai latte, avocado toast, and the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. The staff were preparing a steady stream of orders but still managed to greet every single guest who entered the cafe. The aesthetics are beautifully done and celebrates the rich history of African Americans in the USA. We will definitely be back to explore more delicious options and maybe explore one of the books from the book shelf!!! read more

Jess was a pure joy to meet. He made a perfect shot of expresso and a perfect dark roast. The decor is beautiful and welcoming. Crystal chandeliers and wing back chairs to hug you as you sip your coffee. The place is immaculate Bathrooms so clean and happy for a gal like me. I ordered a drink marked on their specials board "The Balwin" which was a salted mocha, tasted deep like an expresso, personally I prefer a sweeter taste but it was good. Just stumbled on this little gem this morning. the interior is warm and inviting, with varied seating options. tastefully decorated with an elevated yet homely feel. I was warmly greeted upon entering. I wanted a nice fresh medium roast, served hot and without adulterations- and I got a perfect smooth black coffee, and I mean perfect. I saw a few baked goods but was just craving great coffee. Maybe next time, as there certainly will be a next time. This is such a lovely cafe. The coffee we had was wonderful and the coffee cake were delicious. However, the breakfast sandwiches were not that great, I think the egg may have been microwaved. The service was wonderful, I cannot stress how cozy this cafe was. They had black history in pictures everywhere and I loved looking at the pictures in the walls.
