We've been here a few times and the staff is always great. Very friendly, very helpful. We swing by after the gym today and got lattes and a bite to eat. The lattes are good. The default vanilla latte isn't overly sweet, which is good. The regular latte is pretty well pulled. Not over extracted, but a little too much milk for my preference. My wife had an English muffin with an egg. It tasted as good as a 2 ingredient dish could taste. Or at least those 2 ingredients. My raspberry crumble was also good, but could have used more raspberry. I prefer to taste the raspberry as the predominant flavor and in this bar it was a bit masked by the crumble. Still enjoyable though. It's a bit tight inside and typical of an independent coffee shop. Wooden floors and something to look at wherever you turn. Definitely a decent place to grab a cup of coffee if you are in old town. We haven't been here in the evening, it they do have a decent beer list for later in the day. read more

This is my favorite coffee shop in all of Manassas's and possibly Prince William County. We stop by and get coffee and our food. Every chance we get. We usually stop by every other week as my kids and husband are getting their haircut at the old town man cave. It is definitely a staple in old town, Manassas. The service is always amazing. The staff is always so nice and so kind and considerate. I enjoy going in there and getting a chance to talk to them and everything too. The ambience is amazing because it's decorated with local artists and letting them sell their designs in the shop. It's the perfect little hometown right here in old town. read more

Atmosphere was wonderful. The staff were super kind. There was a large group of individuals catching up when I came in, so I think it's great for the locals. The coffee was average but good. I was really just looking for a quick option for coffee and a sandwich since I was working a late shift in the area but I gotta say I was really surprised on how helpful and thoughtful there barista was. I believe Vinny was their name, they help me pick an opinion and was patient with me as it was my first time ordering from this place. When you walk inside it's a nice & cozy environment that feels welcoming. The service there was also just fantastic, I didn't get to catch her name but she was so sweet & kind to me and my friend, best service from a cafe I have ever gotten! While I was at work I ordered from GCS. I ordered a blueberry muffin, with extra butter, and a turkey and bacon club, with no lettuce. The meal was enjoyable. Sadly, the restaurant appeared that they were out of butter, because when my food arrived I found a hand written note in my bag that simply said "out of butter :(". It's sad that a customer had to go without when a restaurant located in the middle of the city can't send someone to the many grocery stores around to pick up an item as simple as butter. I resigned my fate and chose to take the blueberry muffin home to eat, rather than go without at work. Next up was the turkey and bacon club. The sandwich was a delight, despite a few flaws. The sandwich was dripping with liquid.. it was either the ranch sauce or bacon grease, and given it's light flowing behavior I would hazard a guess that it's ranch sauce. Secondly, I received a tomato on one half of my sandwich which should never have even been picked from the farmer's fields, much less should it have made it through the selection process of acceptable produce for use in food items for serving a customer. This tomato was greener than Shrek, and just as hard and disgusting! The food was good, but they need to work on their stocking and food prep at the restaurant. read more

Grounds Central made it through COVID. It is one of the few locally owned, local employee coffee shops still here. They deserve your business. What matters: A simple double espresso comes in a cup with a spoon and has actual flavor instead of burnt coffee. Best menu item: Bacon, egg, cheese on English muffin. Cheap, made fresh, amazing. Regularly rotated art on the walls to purchase. The owner roasts coffee and sells it. Wiiiide variety of music - that's good. The staff can get slammed with orders, especially if one person is working the breakfast rush by themselves. Relax. This isn't McDonalds - this is your local coffee shop. read more

Seems like I spoke too soon. Bunch of kids working that don't know how to do their job. First I ordered a spice chai small almond milk latte. I watched the barista make my spice chai with oat milk. Realize that I'm watching him make it and then topped it off with almond milk and still have the audacity to hand me that latte and I had to address the fact that I saw him put the oat milk in it and I said there's no oat milk in this right to which he responded as if he was surprised and said oh shoot I'll remake it for you it should've been remade to begin with when I'm watching you make my drink correctly. I give grace for that. I said hey no worries. Mistakes happen. I walk out Excited to drink my chai latte and eat my bagel that I've been raving about to my surprise. I open my bagel and find that there is scrambled eggs in the bagel, which has not been a thing the past four times that I have dined here I call and I request to speak to the girl that made the food she gets on the phone I ask her Why is there scrambled eggs on my bagel to which she tells me oh we're actually out of the other egg and so I advised her it would maybe be smart to let your pain customers know that you're out of something because I would not have ordered this bagel. Had I know you were going to make it with scrambled eggs The cashier whatever she is the cook whatever they are gives me attitude and tells me well. It used to be made with scrambled eggs. I don't give a damn about that at all. I don't give a damn about what used to happen. What I know is that I have come and dying here multiple times and have gotten a flat egg on my bagel sandwich multiple times and now I'm getting something completely different to have a staff. Member argue with me back-and-forth and give me attitude when I'm dissatisfied with my order is a complete lack of customer service skills -- train your staff to do better!. the staff member then has the audacity to tell me that they don't like my attitude when I'm calling back and requesting to speak to a manager the girl that was cooking the food had one of her little friends sitting at the bar chatting with her. I don't know what the hell she was doing and then all of a sudden it goes from. Let me find out when a manager is working too. OK hold on. I'll put a manager on the phone. I'm not stupid or naïve and I'm almost sure she was going to put her little dumb friend on the phone. This is unacceptable to run your business like this. It is not hard to take accountability and say you know what ma'am I'm sorry that we didn't let you know and that's it and apology goes a long way because the money is already spent. I will be calling and I will be talking to the manager. The employees name is Nicole allegedly the the boy that made the coffee was a tall blonde little boy. I've been coming to this place often on since they opened. I believe 20+ years ago. I don't get food very often other than breakfast items but I was driving through after going to CVS yesterday and wanted something cold to drink and a quick sandwich. I ordered using their computer screen device. I picked the melted avocado and tomato sandwich. I couldn't see what it look like and it didn't really have a description when I got to my car and started driving. I took out the sandwich and it looked like a steaming hoagie roll. And instead of sliced avocado, it looked like runny guacamole. I was like whatever I'll just take a bite well because it was just heated hoagie roll. You can't just bite through imagine taking thick hoagie bread or hamburger bun and steaming it Well your teeth just Don't want to go through it because it's not crisp. It's almost impossible. And hot runny unseasoned avacado with hot tomato just doesn't work and the tiny bite I was able to put in my mouth, was extremely bitter as if there was no seasoning on the sandwich whatsoever. I don't know who he got to come up with this recipe, but they need to go back to the drawing board. Because there wasn't a photograph I didn't know what kind of bread would be used and trusting Matt to do good by his customers But all of the tomato and avocado sandwiches I have had in my life, have all been on grilled or toasted bread with either a garlic rub or mayonnaise, fresh sliced avocado, fresh sliced tomato, salt and pepper. This is none of that and I literally came home and put it in the garbage and I've never done that and for a sandwich to be over $10 I don't expect this.. the Boba tea I bought tasted fine, but the Boba's were not what you get in Korean shops they were just kind of deflated and mushy, but it did taste good, so hence the three stars. The customer service needs improvement. Been coming here for a while and although the coffee and food is good, there is a particular barista, Nicole, who has been unfriendly and borderline rude. Last time I came here there was only one person in line and as soon as my husband and I walked in she shook her head, didn't greet us and began slamming things around. She continued making drinks and ignored us until my husband and I decided to leave. I understand feeling overwhelmed when it's busy but there were only 3 people inside the cafe. I am a coffee aholic. Spend money on my coffee daily! My go to shop Jirani is right next door but closed on Sundays so I decided to give this place a try. My drink literally went straight in the trash. I'll never understand how baristas don't get basic 1 on 1 training. My "iced" drink was completely watered down before I even got to my car smh. By the time i got home, a 5 min drive it was completely melted. And it's freezing outside y'all, 30 degrees smh. A $7 drink a complete waist. I never leave reviews but if you are like me and expect to get your monies worth, try another coffee shop. I wouldn't even feel comfortable handing my customer a iced drink already watered down. This was my first time visiting "Grounds Central Station" since they changed the name (used to be called: "Simply Sweet"). Stopped in for some caffeine. I wanted a bold coffee, it needed to be made to order, so they used the French Press. I also ordered a breakfast sandwich - sausage, egg, and cheese on an English muffin. The coffee took about 5 minutes to make, while I was waiting, I munched on my breakfast sandwich, which was pretty tasty. The coffee, however, was just okay. It was rather average for a bold coffee made in a French Press - kind of on the weak side. The person working the counter was very friendly. read more

With the name Simply Sweet, many thought this was a bakery, candy store or ice cream shop. They still have great coffee, espresso and panini's as well as breakfast sandwiches. I also like they have added signature mugs, and cups as well as tee shirts and polos so you can support your local business! This small cafe has so much potential but falls short in many areas. It looks so cute from the outside but their baked good look so sad. It's a small glass case right by the cash register and the baked goods are wrapped in plastic. That isn't very appetizing. Their condiment station offers Coffee Mate, not real milk and cream. Coffee mate is crap and full of chemicals. I also feel that coffee is too weak. My PBJ with English muffin was nothing special. I can easily put this together at home. When I visit a small cafe, I'm looking for something special. The furniture needs badly replaced and please have some music on. read more
