Fantastic find along the loneliest (and beautiful) road! Nestled in the middle of a old fashioned town (well kept up) this fun cafe was the place place for a breakfast sandwich and fantastic matcha almond milk latte!

So good! I got a decaf soy latte; hubby got an iced Americano, each with sugar free hazelnut. We were both impressed. We also got a hot bagel sandwich and a cold bagel sandwich and a cinnamon walnut muffin. The bagels were soft and fresh and they let us customize everything on the sandwiches. The muffin was moist and delicious. The atmosphere is super cute and there was plenty of seating.

We stayed across the street for a few nights. This was our go to for coffee. We tried their regular hot coffee and iced americanos. Both were delicious. Better than Starbucks in my opinion. No burnt after taste. We had a couple breakfast sandwiches one morning. They were ok. Nothing fancy. It has the potential to be a really cute place. It's just a bit open and bare right now as far as the atmosphere goes. The service never disappointed and the folks working were always pleasant. It'll be our regular coffee place anytime we are in town.

We stopped at this cute little coffee shop while on vacation in Ely. The iced Chai tea was wonderful and I was able to get an unusual flavor added- cupcake! It made it sweet but not too sweet. The coffee was just strong enough with being bitter. The best part was the atmosphere. Cute, with little green cafe chairs and soft sofas. You can tell they often have families come in because the bathroom had a little toilet seat you could add in the regular toilet for small people. A nice little touch that many places don't think of. No way anyone should be at dennys across the street!!! Friendly family staff, fresh iced tea made PER CUP. ( I had decaffeinated green!) Chicken sandwich was on the superest soft bread ever. Free sample of cupcake was worth a purchase of a dozen! No 5 stars cause the music was a little loud. LOL I will be back for lunch though. read more

REALLY good coffee,( wish they had bigger cups for iced as I drink MASS quantities ). This is half a bagel and it filled me up! VERY friendly staff. Went here on my way home based on the reviews, but the sign said "Closed"; it was 9 am. on a Friday morning (??) The sign also listed their business hours, which is 7:00 to 2:00, so I tried the door which was open. When asked if they were open, the clerk said they were actually closed but it was okay. I ordered a red eye, but she said she had no coffee brewed (I was so confused!), but could make an Americano. I told her that was fine, but give me 3 shots instead of 2. While making my Americano she asked me two more times how many shots I wanted. (Nothing like not being listened to as a customer...) The coffee was okay, but I felt like I was not welcome, they seemed busy getting ready for a catering job (I'm guessing). They should've just locked the door... I would've gone another block to another coffee place that said "OPEN". read more

We were camping close by and stopped in one morning for breakfast. The coffee was amazing. We tried stopping by on our way back but unfortunately they were close. Some of the best coffee we had in a long time. Also had few gluten-free pastries that were good. read more

My dad and I stopped here for coffee and breakfast on our way out of Ely. I love family run cafes and this place is adorable. The decoration is simple, clean, and cute. The owners are friendly and you can tell they honestly care about their work. I really enjoyed my mocha. The breakfast sandwiches were a simple and perfect brunch before a long car ride. The deserts in the display were adorable, but I didn't try any this time. Definitely come here instead of the McDonald's for your caffeine and treat fix. read more

While out on a two lane road trip, I found myself spending the night in the adorable little mining town of Ely. My hotel for the night offered a free Denny's slam for breakfast, but I skipped it. I'm so glad I did! Directly across the street I found The Cup, a cute little coffee shop. Bagel sandwiches, coffee, pastries, all that you would expect in such a place. It's very well lit, with white and teal coloring, which makes it feel inviting and open, not dark and smoky like a lot of places. If you're in town, stop by and grab a cup. read more

I passed through Ely a couple of times last year and just came through again this year. I would say I have gotten coffee here a grand total of five time. All five times the staff was rude. I had hoped from last year to this year the attitude would have changed but no, still very rude. They do not welcome you when you first walk in, even if they are standing at the register. They are not friendly when taking your order or giving it to you once it's made. The entire demeanor of the shop is stand-offish. In a small town you should really value your customers but I felt like an unwelcome door to door sales person. They even had goodies in their display case that weren't for sale. Why even have them on display? read more

My husband and son discovered this place while driving from Los Angeles to Boise to scope out a possible move... and I'm so glad they found it! We have driven back and forth many times since then (yeah, we moved), and we've stopped in here almost every time! The people are the best!! The sandwiches are made to order and absolutely delicious! The customer service cannot be topped! Run by a mom and her daughters... and more family comes and goes while we're there! It's a blast! One time, we were driving from LA to Boise and stopped for lunch. She knew we had a long day ahead of us and wanted to make dinner easy for us. So she ladled the rest of some homemade hamburger soup into two to-go containers and gave us a couple of cornbread muffins to eat with it! May I say I wish I had the recipe... it was absolutely delicious and hit the spot after a very long day! So unless it's a Monday (they're closed on Monday) and whether we're driving north or south, we stop in at The Cup for a light lunch and some great conversation with wonderful people!! Great quick breakfast. My husband and I had the croissant sandwiches and kids loved having basic bagels and cream cheese. My kids often won't eat a whole plate of food at a restaurant, so quick bites are best for them. Coffee is great and the ambience is refreshing. The baked goods look great too. read more

Fantastic coffee! Probably the only great place to get a good cup of joe in such a small town. Banana bread was amazing too! We have gone twice during our trip and cannot say enough. The service is excellent. Place looks like it's run by a mother and her daughter. They have delicious breakfast sandwiches too. Seriously, do yourself a favor and go check them out! read more

Really nice clean place. We came through Ely Nevada 40 years ago and were thrilled to find a gas station that had diesel. So today was a nostalgia visit. Didn't have to search for diesel fuel but found a lot of new places. The owners family were helping out today. Service was great, the grilled chicken salad was crisp and fresh and tasty and the turkey croissant my husband had was very good. They brewed the tea for our iced tea and there were several types of tea to choose from. We didn't try any sweets but they looked good. read more

The main dish was taking quite a while (at the 45 minute) mark I asked the waitress "if I ordered the wrong item?" The server went to the kitchen that reported they thought they were sold out but find one more chicken breast. It was worth the wait! Fantastic and huge. One of the best versions of that dish I've had in years. No consideration from management for the wait... I wanted to give a 5th star...

Lots of space and a few trucks park in the middle. We didn't need hookups, so it was free to stay, but we made sure to buy gas a few times, water/sewer services, and food and drink from inside on many occasions. The employees were really nice and chill. It was a safe place to stay at night and there's amazing mountain scenery too. There's also a grill inside open from 11-5, pretty good! Our dogs got to enjoy the trails. Water and sewer are only $10 total here. All in all, really convenient! Thank you!

The location is perfect, the food was great and the customer service was very good and friendly. This was our second night staying at the Prospector Hotel. We ate dinner at Margarita's on both of our stays (within the same week going to and coming back from Idaho) with breakfast this morning on our second stay. The staff were quite friendly and all were on their game and attentive. The food was very good and abundant. I had the Mexican Rib-eye steak last night and it was cooked a perfect medium rare. Breakfast this morning was Machaca and Eggs. Lots of it perfectly cooked and great to taste. Oh, and their salsa is outstanding! We'll be back if we ever head this way again. Margarita's was outstanding and so was the Prospector Hotel and Gambling Hall. They're both a gem in north-central Nevada!

Staying at the Prospector Hotel for…read morethe first time and have our dogs with us so thought it would be convenient to pick up food from the on-site restaurant. Ugh - never again. First off, the poor kid at the host desk was visible flustered. Despite only a few customers in the restaurant. He was nice, but I felt like an inconvenience. Second, there is a $1.75 charge to go. I saw it when I paid the bill and thought, okay there's paper plates and to go boxes. I get it. But in reality, there should be a discount because you don't get chips and salsa with to-go orders. Third, our dishes were packaged to go by squishing them between plates. Gross, plus we list done of our food because it stuck to the top plate. Fourth, the quality of food is severely lacking. The nacho chips are cheap, low quality tortillas that just aren't worth the calories. The top of the nachos initially apparent have a decent amount of topping, but the reality is that once the top chips were consumed, all that was left were the crumby naked chips and they weren't even crispy. The steak fajitas were "ok". But nothing great and the steak pieces were too large and difficult to chew. Next time we are in Ely, we'll try a different place.
