I contacted them on facebook and they immediately responded. Then Christina took the order and made the most perfect arrangement of yellow roses to deliver. I was so impressed! And my bestie loved her flowers too. So, of course, on my 1st visit to Ely yesterday I had to stop in. It is SO adorable!! The place was really cute but as I went to order, one female employee did not greet me and asked if I supported the second amendment, to which I said yes because MERICA she followed up with "ew you can serve them" to the other employee. Surprise! An adorable coffee/ gift shop / flower shop / crafter's haven. This in a small town which, from what I can tell, has mainly two things going for it. A historic train museum and a couple of bordellos. I judge not. Ely (pronounced ee-lee) is a Nevada oasis surrounded by vast nothingness and cattle ranges, and not much more, so isolated you wonder how on earth people decided it was a good idea to set down roots here. It is easily a hundred miles to the next pit stop, or so it appears. The only reason we ended up here was, we were on our way from So Cal to Idaho, and were darned near tuckered out. A bed awaited. Not many choices, but as we all know, we only need one good one. Yes, luck was with us. The next morning, we found great, hi octane espresso, and a very refreshing, friendly vibe. Thanks! I needed to pass some time before my tour of the Nevada Northern railroad depot and I saw this coffee and flower shop on the street leading to the depot. I made a quick U-turn and parked in front of the store. I was looking for something cold and a snack. I ordered a chai frappe and I got a pastry they call a bisconie that was cranberry orange flavor. The bisconie was excellent. Good orange flavors with the cranberry. The frappe was a bit disappointing. I like them a little thicker than a milkshake but not like frozen milk standing up. It would last a long time before it melted at all so I stirred it often with the straw to try to make it more like a smoothie. There was a lot of slurping and a lot of getting my fingers sticky. They have a men's room in the middle of the store so I bounced in and rinsed my hands before leaving. I'd recommend getting a hot drink or iced cappuccino. Very comfortable place and enjoyable. read more

Got two "hot" coffees yesterday that were not drinkable. I threw them away. Mine taste like coffee flavored water and hubby's latte was supposed to be hot, it was Luke warm at best. I've given this place chance after chance and now I am done. Sorry but YUCK! read more

I come to Ely to work a few weeks out of the year. Flower Basket has become a daily hangout spot for me. I have several friends who do the same. The hours are great and it's comfortable there. Great place to read or work. They have a variety of snacks, a lot of speciality candies/baked goods, or you can bring in takeout. During the Summer, it's also convenient to get ice cream or just sit and cool off. Of course, they also sell floral arrangements and knick-knacks. I try to take full advantage of the rewards program, getting a free coffee after so many purchases. It's definitely worth signing up if you're in town for a few days. read more

I am used to quality coffee and my favorite is Pete's coffee so I am rating this based on the standard I love. This coffee shop is a delight in a town like Ely however I cannot rate it 5 because the their espresso coffee despite the fact that order a 16oz cup with two shots was very weak. It was hard to taste the coffee. They can really improve their coffee by making it richer. Having said that the atmosphere and service was great. I liked the flowers all around. I wish they can improve the quality of the coffee. That would make it a 5-star place. read more

This place was a surprising find in a place like Ely! I came for the Astronomy Festival in September and was so happy to discover this delightful little coffee shop/flower shop/adorable little knick knack store. The barista was very nice, my iced Americano was made perfectly and I bought one of almost every flavor of their biscotti! They also have the ridiculously expensive, but delicious little portable healthy oatmeal cups, which was such a welcome offering to a McMuffin bfast sandwich and coffee from McD's. And believe me, it was Absolutely Heavenly!!! I also ordered a 1.25 oz Toffee Pecan flavored Biscotti Goddess & a 24 Oz Cafe Au Le with Whole Milk for a friend at his request. We ordered two 12oz lattes for $2.75 each. Was charged $7. Had to ask what size she was filling, she responded 12oz, so, why are we being charged $3.50 each? Refunded us the difference. Lattes were warm, not hot. read more

The coffee is great! The coffee makers are great! The management--eh, this is where I have to draw the line. In the past two months there has been so much turnover of great, friendly employees. I couldn't figure out what was going on. Until...Friday morning when I went in to get my usual. Another new girl was learning how to make it. The shop was also busy making flowers for prom and a wedding. A lady "Dez", who is USUALLY nice...snapped at the girls making coffee TWICE while I was waiting. Right in front of me and other customers in the store. I was appalled at her unprofessionalism and the demeaning tone she used to her employees. It became VERY clear why there's always a NOW HIRING sign on the door. I'll still go there for my coffee, but if she is there, I won't stay. Normally the shop is fun and quaint and friendly, but there has been an undertone of something I couldn't put my finger on. Poor management. There ARE other coffee spots in town that don't treat their employees like that. I'd just as soon go there as have that awkward feeling served with my morning brew. Ugh. read more
