We stayed the night in Ely on our way back home. The hotel owner said there were only three places to eat in town; we chose SMASH N GRAB. I've eaten hamburgers all over the US and the World and the Mushroom and Swiss I had at the Smash n Grab was the BIGGEST and BEST burger I ever had! Hand made and bigger than the huge bun it was on! The two POUNDS of FRESH hand cut fries were perfectly cooked and overflowing the take out container with my hamburger. My wife ordered the Kid's Meal of Chicken Tenders and in addition to two POUNDS of fries got four huge tenders that could have easily fed several kids! A great place to eat! read more

This was a pretty good place to eat. The restaurant is a local favorite and is pretty loud as it is a sports style venue. The prices were to be expected for burgers, wings, salads, and other similarly styled foods. They had a good beer selection that (I believe) was all brewed in house. Don't quote me on that. On a big trip & stopped here for breakfast. Its a little confusing to find as there is no sign outside the actual front door. If you're looking for a place to stop, go to the effort of finding this place. The construction on Main Street has been rough on all the businesses. We arrived for a late breakfast. Perfect timing, because by noon, the locals were in. They know how good and casual the place is. We made some special requests. The service was great and the meal cooked perfectly. Other reviewers are right about the pancakes and I just had to have one, but didn't get close to finishing it. Very good food, very good service. It was a little hard to find as you need to come inside off the main street or navigate your way through the casino. The dessert selection was also the best in town where they had an apple pie cheese cake and the waitress was very knowledgeable of the area. Overall very good. read more

Excellent place for breakfast! We eat here often on the weekend and really enjoy the staff as well as the food. it's the only place in town that knows the right way way to cook eggs! The staff are always pleasant and attentive and always find a way to take care of our big family even without reservations. The only reason I'm not giving a five star review is because of the smoky casino you have to walk through to get to the restaurant which some days can be pretty smoky. read more

During a visit to Ely, NV, a local customer recommended this place for lunch, having the best burgers in town. Located at downtown Ely, inside of Jailhouse Casino. I ordered an Arnold Palmer while I was pondering the menu on what to eat, ordered a Patty Melt burger. The service was excellent, and the ambiance has nostalgic charm. The burger was delicious and well served with fresh made french fries. Let me add, the Arnold Palmer drink is the best I've ever had in years!!! It was so good, I had to make another visit for more! Satisfying and generous burgers and amazing fried pickles. We just got back from a long road trip and this definitely hit the spot, now a must stop place when rolling through Ely. Stopped here for lunch. My biggest complaints are that it is in a casino so people can smoke right outside the restaurant and the sandwiches are SO big and they give you tons a fries. Maybe a good problem to have? None of us even ate half our fries, which I think were homemade and pretty delicious. My chicken Philly seemed really salty but everyone else liked their food. Soooo sad to have to give this review. There isn't much to choose from for breakfast in town but we found smash and grab and it seemed to have good reviews, we were excited to try. We came in Saturday morning, the sign says seat yourself. The tables were either seated or dirty. There were at least 6 dirty tables. We tried to stand out of the way hoping they would be cleaned soon. No one even acknowledged our existence, they walked by countless times and never said as much as we're busy give us a second and we'll have them cleaned off for you. We found a seat at the bar and decided to eat there. They continued to walk by without saying anything. They grabbed the guest next to us and asked if they still wanted a booth cleaned off, which they still hadn't done. They grabbed the plates but the guest had to wipe down their own table. We waited another 5 mins and decided to leave!!! We ended up at Margarita's Mexican restaurant, it was our favorite restaurant of the trip- definitely go there instead!! read more

Located inside the Jailhouse Casino this restaurant is innovative and fun! Our waitress was so nice, friendly and fast. My husband got a coffee and myself a tea since we came in for Breakfast. Very well themed to the Jailhouse aesthetic as well! We split their Aptly named Big Breakfast Burrito which was more than enough for two people to eat. This burrito is not your average breakfast. Instead of just a tortilla, it is a full on quesadilla that your sausage, eggs, bacon and cheese is nestled into! Truly a breakfast that can't be beat! They also serve it with a tasty little salsa that added just the perfect little acidic brightness to the burrito. Went for breakfast on Wednesday so it was quiet, my wife had the pancakes and they are huge to my amazement she ate both of them. I thought I ordered the mushroom omelet but I mistakenly ores the ham and cheese, our waitresses Christy was great she offered to make me the mushroom omelet and I told my mistake but she insisted I get what I wanted no charge I highly recommend Smash & grab. read more

First off, the service is amazing! I had the best mushroom/Swiss burger that I've ever eaten. The hamburger patty was way bigger than the bun, and so flavorful. This place is a little hard to find, but totally worth the search! Smash and grab restaurant is located inside the Jailhouse Casino on fifth Street. Kids of all ages allowed! The last time I ate at Evah's (located inside the Ramada) back in 2013, it was an Italian restaurant. Fast forward 10 years and now we have the Smash n Grab. I'm in total agreement with the previous reviewers, the hamburger is an amazingly fresh and excellent tasting meal. The bun was so soft and fresh! I tried the Spicy Smash w fries. As much as I loved my meal, it really wasn't spicy like I thought it might be, but the flavor itself was excellent. Also, I was fairly early after opening, and it wasn't very busy this night. My meal came out in less than 10 minutes. Service was excellent. The fries are so well made and crisp! I had to stop eating them because they do give you way plenty. They bring you ketchup and fry sauce to the table. Fry sauce was great tasting if I do say so myself. No liquor served in the dining area but you are allowed to bring it in yourself from the lower casino floor. They are only open 4-9 pm everyday but Sunday. Sunday is closed. read more
