Cupcakes are better than Frost but not great, why did Angela's Sweets have to close? Problem is that the frostings are made with transfat products (crisco and/or cool whip) instead of real dairy butter or cream cheese and they put it on about an inch thick. Who seriously wants to eat an inch thick layer of crisco? The frosting looks nice, goes on easy, and it doesn't melt in the sun but it tastes awful. read more

Gee really? You just assume that after seeing the truck for years that their product must be decent, right? So when I'm finally at the right place at the right time I think I'm in for a treat. Instead I get something that looks good but really didn't taste that way. Deciding not to finish a cupcake you pay top dollar for is very disappointing! Then when your wife and 3 year old agree it's very very disappointing. But that's not the end of this joke. When the person charged me using an iPhone square device (never a good sign) they tell me "oh it didn't go through" and ask me to swipe my card again. Of course the next day I see I was charged twice making the experience extra special. It reminded me of the time I tried those Harry Potter jellybeans. Okay, so I always get super excited seeing The Cupcake Lady's pink van, and I get super jealous when I pass by and can't stop to go again, but then I remember how my last experiences were. I want to like The Cupcake Lady. I really do. Unfortunately, it's not turning out that way. I have tried several cupcakes over the past year from TCL, but I have never said, "That was SO good!" ... ever. Yes, they are pretty pricey. That van will intrigue and hypnotize you. But, you should be wary as every cupcake I've ever had has been extremely dry and lacks something. I think they should re-evaluate their ingredients, try new things, and make them much more moist. I always saw this truck driving around in Modesto. I work in the mall and one day is was parked out in front of my work and i HAD to try it. My husband and I ordered 4 cupcakes and they were amazing!! They had all kinds of fun flavors. We got the maple bacon, bananas foster, champagne, and horchata! The bananas foster was my favorite! The maple bacon is delicious. However, the chocolate Andes cupcake was dry beyond belief and the chocolate treated like pure coco powder, very bitter and not at all like Andes. I think there needs to be more quality control and they need to work on thier chocolate cake. read more

Wow these were just really disappointing. The maple bacon was a huge miss, the cake in it tasted like pancake batter with too much baking soda. I didnt even eat half. Well I have been very curious about the Cupcake Lady since I learned about her cute pink truck! I too am a Baker and do many flavors myself but I was curious about the pink champagne cupcake so mothers day last year my Co worker wanted to try them since she was parked inside the mall we work at so I sent her over to get us a one. We had the pink champagne and snicker doodle, yikes sooo dry not much flavor and frosting was tasteless and greasy in my mouth yikes! I picked up a dozen cupcakes at the Dominos Pizza grand opening in lodi. I have previously had cupcakes from here and they were very good. However, this time a few of the cupcakes we had were very dry. The cake part was crumbly and seemed a little stale and they weren't as moist as the previous time I had them. They offer different cupcakes every week from maple bacon, to Irish carbomb...they have nailed the taste all their unique flavors. My sister in law has ordered a cake for the third time and alot of the guest do like it. It is super dry and does not taste like anything. Chocolate does not taste like chocolate, vanilla is dry, and cookies and creme just have little bits of chocolate but nothing special. Idk how much she paid for the cakes but not worth it. It's obvious shortening is used in the frosting. Once I got past the greasy texture, the frosting was way too sugary. The cupcake itself was dry and stale. I'd not be surprised if a box mix was used. While I do think the flavor combinations are fantastic in theory, the actual product was not. They are beautiful to look at, just not to eat. I'll stick to making my own. read more

So good!! I ordered the cookies and creme and I've never had a cupcake as delicious as this! The cake part was perfectly dense and full of flavor unlike other cakes that are airy with no flavor. The icing was perfect too! Not super super sweet, the sweetness was just the right amount and didn't overwhelm the overall flavor. I went back for more after I had one but she was closing up. I really wanted to give this establishment a second opportunity yet again they failed big time. To have box made cupcakes I can just buy some canned frosting and a premade cupcake mix/cake mix. Seriously the frosting just tasted like it was Crisco and powdered sugar. The caramel frappuchino cupcake frosting was way too salty, the strawberry cheese cake cupcake didn't have even the slightest taste of cheesecake to it, again frosting had no cream cheese, and the chocolate one again was not a favorite. Look I'm willing to spend even five dollars on a cupcake knowing you used quality ingredients. These just taste cheap. I know you are trying to make profit too but this cheap overly sweet and Salty was is not the right way to go about it. While at a recent event I had the opportunity to try some of these delicious cupcakes. I usually consider myself a cookie persons but if these cupcakes were around I may have to reconsider. The cupcake presentation was simple and elegant and would be suited for many occasions. Space being a factor our selection was limited to only a sampling of what I found out later to be an extensive variety of flavors. All the cupcakes we tried were moist, flavorful and unique, my favorite was the peach with the maple bacon a very close second the pink champagne cupcake was delicate and perfect. With all the variety I could see using cupcakes to bring an elegant simple yet fun twist to my next function and I'd highly recommend The Cupcake Lady. read more

First time to visit the cupcake lady and also our last! My girls waited in line over 15 min for 3 overpriced cupcakes. They looked appealing but that is the only praise I would give them.
