Large selection of craft beer. Thursday burger and beer special was perfect. We also had the gyro with quinoa. It was fantastic. There was also music. What more could you ask for

Interior of bar/stage after dark

This place might as well be the Custer, SD visitor center. We were in town (or just outside of it) for three nights and we stopped by every night for food, live music, and karaoke. I am not exaggerating when I say this is the only MUST during our entire trip in South Dakota. We did a lot: Mount Rushmore, ATVing, hiking, Deadwood, but The Beacon is what I find myself thinking about today at work. The food was really good and was served from the side building after ordering from the bar. The interior venue space is large and well-designed. They have tables near the bar with pool tables and a few high-tops but the stage is surrounded by couches. I absolutely LOVED this. Coffeehouse vibes but with a prairie spin. I get the feeling that this place functions as kind of a town hall. I feel like we met a good cross-section of the town while we were there. I cannot speak highly enough of those we met here. It was truly the perfect welcome to the Black Hills. My only regret about my time in Custer is that we did not spend more time here. The bar staff was fantastic, the food was great, and the locals were friendly. The Beacon has a good mix of locals and tourists, especially in the later hours. DO NOT MISS this place. I am not sure if I will ever be back to Custer, but if I do, I hope I can stop by and have a drink. Thanks for the memories!

Open mike night for local musicians

Stayed in Custer and this was recommended by our front desk clerk. Nice, roomy, had a stage where it was open mike night for local musicians. Sign as we entered instructed us to take menus, find a seat, and order at the bar. Food arrived shortly. My friend and I both had the Dakota dip, lots of roast beef piled on a thick brioche bun with au jus, comes with one side. We both had fries and my friend also got a side salad and fried beets Ala carte. When food arrived my friend didn't have her fries but they did bring them. We never had service aftermath, no one checked to see if we needed anything or more to drink. Guess you have to go to the bar for that also. Other than that the food was super good, the roast beef was tender, juicy and flavorful. My friend loved her salad, and the fries were crispy and hot. Would recommend if in Custer.

In Custer at start and end of vac. Another bartender recommended this place. Hit it 3 times. Walked in, incredible open space with live music. A nice lady offered my wife her bar set, turns out it was the owner. Great outside area, family friendly. Good prices, better than ok food but great vibe. Wed-Sat. ** not fancy, order your food at the bar, take a number and sit down. Bathrooms take a little getting used to

The Custer Beacon is an outstanding spot that has been a highlight of my many trips to Custer over the past few years. A family-run business in a converted warehouse, the Beacon brings together a wonderful community with outstanding concerts, delicious food and a comprehensive local craft beer tap list. The food menu is always evolving and I can never get enough of the Dakota Dip sandwich, paired up with a Bruce Banner APA. It's always fun to grab a beer there--even on non-concert days--hang with friends, toss some corn hole or shoot pool. Every time I come back I'm always impressed by some of the fun updates to the space.

We visited the Custer Beacon and Cantina on a cold Friday night. There was great live music and the food was delicious. The staff made sure the outside fire pits were stoked up so we could stay warm and also enjoy their outside patio. Everything was very clean, including the unisex bathroom. Just a great experience.

This place is a hidden vegetarian gem!! I wish I'd found this place earlier! They have vegan food, vegetarian food, paleo food, keto food. And their food is amazing! Their beer selection is on par with a big brewery. As a bonus they have live music and games! Do not miss out. Make sure to get your dinner here.

Terrible service, waited 90 minutes for burgers to arrive. And food wasn't even hot. Would never return there, even for free meals.

We were driving a rental car, that had a wonky license plate that was hanging on by one screw. As we walked in the restaurant manager had noticed our license plate, and offered to help us fix it when we were finished. He then sat us in a partially full dining room, which is beautifully decorated. I went with the bison chili, and it was super tasty! For me, it was a little bit on the spicy side, but I know for a lot of people they would love it that way. I asked for a side of cornbread, as I had just ordered a cup of the chili, not the main chili meal, and they were very gracious and brought one out. The cornbread was also super delicious! As we finished our meal, it had started to rain. The manager stood by his offer to help us with the license plate, and met us just up the road a bit at a place where the maintenance supervisor's truck was located so that he could get us a zip tie to fix our license plate. It was such a nice gesture, and we appreciated that he went out of his way to help us. We would highly recommend the Blue Bell Lodge!

Regardless, the Lobby Bar seems to be highly recommended on Yelp, so that was my dining destination tonight. The steak strips and fries sounded good tonight. Dish was pretty good, albeit a tiny portion and a bit pricey ($20). Fries may be the best part of the dish. I might have ordered a less expensive dish in hindsight. But a draft of Knuckle Head Red made it all better. For a hotel bar/restaurant, this one is pretty awesome.

Mostly burgers and the like, but oh so very good burgers. We grabbed a couple of appetizers, they were rapidly consumed by the group. The shrimp appetizer was my favorite, the dipping sauce was superb. Along with his burger, my guy ordered the mac'n cheese, it was cheesy and garlicky, and we pretty much swiped the bowl clean. My burger was fresh and hot, and I honestly couldn't eat the whole thing. I did eat the entirety of the side of slaw that I ordered. No waste on the burger, it went home in a to-go box. Although they handled our group very well, I wouldn't recommend taking a large group without setting it up with the staff beforehand. We had kind of a big group (party of 16), so we set it up a few days in advance. I think this place will become part of the regular places we go when we are in town.
