Let me start by stating that I have never liked, let alone loved, going to the hairdresser…read more I'm not one of those girls that knows *exactly* what I want the stylist to do, the colour swatches that make the perfect colour blend to compliment my natural hair, nor the person that has twenty magazine cut outs to define how I want to look when I leave. I do however know that I don't want to sit in a chair for a few hours and be judged for not having the right shoes, the status, or listen to an entire salon bitch about reality TV. If any of this rings true for you, you need to come and see Brooke at Main Street Studio. Brooke only works on Friday, so make sure you plan your visit in advance (but she will work late), and if you need a cut and colour plan for 2-3 hours of iPhone/Kindle time. Brooke is highly personable, delightful to chat with about local restaurants, things going on in the universe, and the intricacies of wheelchair sports (no, really :)). Aside from these grand quirks and highlights, she'll give you a wonderful colour, cut, head massage, and shampoo while leaving you looking and feeling great about your new hair and yourself. So give Brooke a call, and join me in not hating the hairdresser anymore :)

I've had a single massage at Main Street, and that's probably sufficient. It's a renovated old…read morehouse, and beautiful on the inside. They no doubt handle hair and other spa-type treatments, though I've no experience with them. The massage that I got was from a therapist several years out of school. I have this running theory that, something akin to musical talent, you can certainly practice the movements involved with massage therapy, but that the difference between a merely fine and truly wonderful massage comes down to some innate abilities that some therapists have, and others do not. Unfortunately for me, my therapist at Main Street really didn't. On the other hand, Penny Ann's is right next door. The extra star on this review might be reflected glory from the slice of peanut butter pie that I had. If you love pie and massage, this may be your single best option to get them in such close proximity. Or not. I'll admit that I could be entirely wrong about that last part. Penny Ann's pie does rock, though. Anyway, massage therapy is expensive and I doubt I'll be going back, even at the CityDeals price I paid. Color me disappointed.

Amber Pearson has a passion for her work. Meaning if you aren't happy, she's not happy. The more…read moreyou go to her, the more adept she becomes to what is is that you seek. Meaning if you aren't happy, she'll know it without you saying anything. She'll tell me flat out, your eyebrows are getting squirrelly and she'll trim them. Passion dictates price in my opinion. Settle for anything, or demand the best. To get the best, you need someone with a general passion for what you're seeking. If they have that, which she does than I shall pay whatever is asked! I have followed her from three salons, and while that might sound bad - it's far from it. She has left salons because the salon owners aren't doing their part to keep the place fresh & clean. She seeks the best environment for her clientele so that everything from the atmosphere, experience and cut are all exceptional. Her new spot feels far better kept than the previous two. Much cleaner and brighter. I just get a simple men's cut which is rare for her these days. Her focus is on curls and color. So if you are a woman seeking amazingly vibrant color or if your hair is curly and you need the best, than I highly recommend that you give her a shot. As for me the simple hair cut has always been perfect and I love the pampering. The hot towel on the face with eucalyptus & lavender is refreshing. The head massage after your cut is relaxing and how the hell I leave there not feeling like I'm covered in hair and all itchy is beyond me.

Re: Stylist Leslie Jo - Buyer Beware…read more I purchased a prepaid appt that NEVER expires. I canceled an appointment with more than 24 hours notice via Schedulicity sp? over 1.5 yrs ago and have never used my coupon. Spoke to Leslie Jo about a special she is running thru EOM that I can't make since I had two serious personal issues arise this week, and mentioned coming in the following week, & if she wouldn't honor the special due to my extenuating circumstances, I would use my non-expiring coupon for a prepaid visit. I stupidly gave the redemption code to Leslie Jo at the time of my original booking approx. 1.5 yrs ago thinking she wouldn't consider redeeming it unless I actually had my hair done. When I tried to discuss using now she told me I've redeemed it. Since I've never met her, don't know what she looks like, or where the salon is located, and Leslie Jo couldn't have any 'honest' records of doing anything to my hair, let alone what color or length it is, how could she in good conscious have collected on my Never expiring coupon 1.5 years ago? She tried to tell me I canceled with less than 24 hours notice after she couldn't verify that she had actually worked on my hair, and she felt justified in taking my money for that reason. While it isn't true, and even if it were, she is not Ever supposed to collect unless she completes the service I prepaid for. Very Disappointed non-customer who can't comment on the decor, etc. since I've never seen it. 0 stars.
