A nice place to pit stop and stretch. We got some yummy cheese curds, mini corn dog bites, chicken tenders and burgers. Everyone was happy with their meal. The soft serve ice cream is so good (& HUGE!). We ordered the extra small and it felt huge. Has one clean unisex bathroom (so if you have a large group, you'll need to wait). The drive thru is busy, but we stopped to eat there and it didn't take long to get our food. Get a pic with the cow statue in the picnic area off to the side (which is mostly shaded), or sit in the sun on a nice day. It was a great stop to relax and get some fresh air.

Great food! Cheese curds, burgers, and soft serve. We ate it too fast to take pics, but the kids had a great time! I did observe they could have a better flow for their drive through if they took orders on the East side of the building, and when you get to the West side order window, the drive around was worth the wait. Just a suggestion. The turtle sundae primo.

    This is a small.

Holy malted milk balls is The Dairy Barn great. You know, in Wisconsin, we get spoiled with good dairy products. And in most of the state, besides beer and cheese, frozen custard becomes the third corner in our food pyramid. (I love in Milwaukee, where seldom do we go out for ice cream--it's always custard.) So I forget how good ice cream can be. Then I visit The Dairy Barn just off Hwy. 141 in Lena, Wisconsin and it all comes back to me... good ice cream can give custard a run for the money any day. Smooth, creamy, and most noticeably, fresh. These traits blend together in a swirly array atop a crispy cake cone. The Dairy Barn doesn't skimp on the serving sizes either. If you're calorie conscious, don't hesitate to order an extra-small, because even a small is about the size of Lady Liberty's torch. They have food here, too -- burgers, fries, and stuff. I've had a few things, and they were fine, but the star of the show is soft-serve ice cream. That's why you should go to The Dairy Barn. Go. Go now. Summer will come to an end and The Dairy Barn will close for the season and you just won't know what to do because grocery store ice cream--no matter how "premium" or expensive--can't hold a candle to The Dairy Barn's frozen dairy goodness.

There was a line in the drive through for most of the time we were here.

We found the Barn while traveling through the area. My hubby got a bacon cheeseburger, which was juicy and delicious. I got a pizza burger which was also very flavorful with tangy sauce on it. Cheese curds were good, and our 5 year old liked her Mac n cheese bites. The Sour Cream and Chive dries were well cooked, but missed the mark flavor-wise. I had a Mudslide pie for dessert and it was yummy and tasted homemade. We liked eating in the covered shade area adjacent. I didn't see a place to eat inside, so this is a summer destination. Kids will like the cow statue to play with and for photo ops. Adults will love the low prices. This is definitely an out of the way spot for locals, but the food hit the spot for our traveling little family.

    Twist cone.

Ice cream was good. Service was not the best but it was ok. It seems to be a popular spot for the locals.

Great experience last night at Bavarian Inn. Just remember: Bring Cash!!…read more You start off at the bar with a drink, my go to is always a SoCo Old Fashioned and my husband had a bourbon. When you're ready to order, let the bartender know and you get a number. This indicates to your server you're ready to order. At this point you may be into your second + cocktail. Just go with the flow, you're at a Bavarian themed super club! Waitress will take your order and call you to your table when ready. Just go ahead, step up to the beautifully maintained salad bar with the best pickled beets, chopped chicken liver and soft cheese. We finished our salad and our appetizer of shrimp de'jonghe arrived bubbly and smelling of garlic. I had the tenderloin rare with the spaetzle my husband had the tenderloin tips, grilled shrimp and salmon trio. The salmon was the winner! Get taste and so moist. Just a fun supper club atmosphere, we're you belly up to meet strangers who become friends. Enjoy!!

I've been to the Big Dipper dozens of times over the past several years (most recently last night!)…read more It serves its purpose, which to me seems to be ice cream/food spot in the middle of nowhere! I will say that the hot food is just ok. Ive had burgers, hot dogs, fries...none of which i'd say were memorable. The hot food always seems to take quite a while to make. On a 1-5 rating scale, I'd give the hot food a 2 1/2 score, at best. They have cedar crest ice cream by the scoop. Probably 10-15 flavors to choose from at any given time. This is a plus for me....love cedar crest! They also have soft serve ice cream. My kids always get flurries (the Big Dipper version of a DQ blizzard). I've also gotten a root beer float several times. All of these are big pluses for The Big Dipper. There is seating outside and inside, which is convenient. You can also order either from a window outside or from the counter inside. The employees are always friendly. Seems to always be alot of younger folks working, with one or two adults. Inside the establishment they used to have an arcade and a small store with fireworks and camping-type accessories. Now they got rid of the arcade and only sell small wooden signs with silly sayings on them. And...there are an obnoxiously excessive amount of these signs!! I'm sure the wooden signs have a huge profit margin when someone actually buys them, but in several years of frequenting this place, i've never seen anyone buy one. I wish they'd cut back on the wood signs and go back to selling the camp-style stuff. I like this place and I come here often. The ice cream is good and the food is ok. I'd recommend it to anyone spending time in the area.

Deanna and her team are the real reason my GPS keeps rerouting me back there like it's a rescue mission for my soul (and sweet tooth). Walked in for "just one scoop." Left with a cone taller than my future and a smile so big I had to hold it with both hands. The ice cream? Creamy, dreamy, and possibly churned by angels. Prices? Let's just say I paid less for my sundae than I did for a bottle of water at the gas station. That's sorcery. Delicious, creamy sorcery. Deanna, the mastermind behind this frozen wonderland, is the kind of person who probably gives ice cream to her enemies just to win them over. Her helpers were so friendly and upbeat, I thought I'd wandered into a Disney movie--minus the musical number (although I did hum while eating). Bottom line: Brain Freeze is what would happen if Willy Wonka ditched the chocolate and focused on making the happiest ice cream shop on Earth. 10/10, will absolutely be back... once my taste buds forgive me for the cold snap. P.S. Try the cookie dough. You'll get misty-eyed. It's that good.
