When you've been serving up the scoops and cones for almost 70 years, it goes without saying you might know a thing or two about ice cream. And of course you have the community reputation to go with it. The Dairy Corner is well known, and well visited for these reasons. You will likely have to pack on the side of the road in front of the place and you may either have to take your tasty treat to go or just stand around and eat, as the tables fill up quick. But on a cool evening, with the sunset painting the sky and a windmill turning (just behind the place) you won't even notice. The team here is always friendly, and I mean how could you not be happy to work at such a place? In my visits (thus far) I have enjoyed a sundae, a waffle cone (two scoops), and a bowl (also two scoops). All were quality, much larger than I expected, and the flavors were spot on (e.g. apple pie). They have the usual; floats, shakes, blended flavors, staple flavors, and weekly flavors. I ordered a chocolate milk shake and it was terrible I watched the young lady fill the cup up with chocolate ice cream then took the gallon of milk and poured it over top of the ice cream then put the lid on and handed it to me didn't even blend it. We have driven by this gem many, many times on our travels through Winchester, and finally had the chance to stop. Their menu had a wide variety of options, and their prices were reasonable. Their service was quick, and orders were accurate. Our family particularly liked the raspberry soft serve. Only thing is sometimes the staff can be hit or miss for getting orders out. We visited Pack's because a friend recommended it, so I had high expectations. I ordered a vanilla kiddie cup, but they gave me a cone instead. Vanilla was good, but not that great compared to vanilla from other ice cream shops. Flashback to this past Sunday when I was driving down Route 7 in rural Winchester with my windows down, my best friend in the front seat, and the sunlight blasting my left arm with UV rays. It was a glorious day to be in 'Murrica. Out of the corner of my eye, I peeked a rundown shack selling soft-serve ice cream. I immediately make a right turn, illegally park on a side lot, and am transported to the 1957. This shack keeps things simple: soft serve ice cream in a cone or cup, milkshakes, and sundaes only. There are no dipped cones or matcha coconut lychee swirls here. Just good ole' vanilla, chocolate, banana and raspberry. I purchased a banana cone with chocolate sprinkles while my friend indulged in a vanilla sundae with caramel. They have a few bright red picnic tables so you can sit out and enjoy the sunshine which is exactly what we did. No fuss, no muss (except when my cone started dripping down the side but that's my fault). If life could only be this simple and sweet! read more

I look forward to the few times a year I'm in Winchester solely for this place. Their banana frozen custard is absolutely amazing and every time I get it, I feel a sense of personal victory. That all got ruined my last visit by an old guy in a 50's something Chevy rolling up and ordering a banana split with banana frozen custard, but whatever. He won that round; I will be back and better equipped next time. This is place is pretty much impossible to find on the internet. It wasn't listed on Yelp, it doesn't show on Google Maps and other than one blog from a random guy, there is no website for it. Even the name of the place isn't immediately clear, as the sign out front just says Frozen Custard.
