    Curried Goat
    Devon M.

Wasn't expecting good Jamaican food in Winchester of all places but I can say confidently that it was good. We ordered a beef patty and it had a good spice to it. I ordered the goat curry while my fiancée ordered the jerk chicken. Both come with rice and beans and cabbage. The jerk chicken had a nice spice to it and was exactly what I know jerk chicken to taste like. The goat curry was very flavorful and tender. It was easy to pull off the bone. The rice and beans could have had some salt and pepper but since mine had curry, it helped it out on the flavor. The cabbage had good flavor and wasn't mushy. The service here was fast. There were 2 employees: one woman taking orders and a man in the back cooking. He definitely knew what he was doing. The ambiance is casual and small restaurant. There's a fish tank by the front door in the window. There's tons of pictures from the owner in Jamaica on the walls. A lot of Jamaican decor around the restaurant. I'd happily eat here again if in Winchester. If you live in the area, highly recommend trying it.

Decided to travel around looking for a cool coffee shop and ended up in Winchester,VA. Besides Coffee (Blue Mountain Coffee), they served Jerk Chicken!! Score!! The coffee was very good. They had some packets for sale (ground only). The Jerk chicken was nice picy and tasty. The Curry chicken was also spicy and delicious. Good lunch special. The place had a decent Jamaican feel to it. I enjoyed my visit. Jamaica in Winchester, VA??? Glad it's there

Never had authentic Jamaican food... UNTIL TODAY! This food was so flavorful and well put together, uses some really interesting flavors and doesn't compromise itself for any American audiences. It is unabashedly from the Islands. The oxtail was well made but sadly I would say there wasn't enough meat on the bones. The side of Jerk Chicken was phenomenal and came with a good mix of white and dark meat. Even the chicken breast was juicy and moist. The only real major downside to the meal was the beef patty. It was dry and was more dough than beef. The meat on the inside was dry and desperately needed the hot sauce they have on hand. All in all a good experience but make sure you order the right things.

Tropical Island has outstanding authentic food. Flavorful, fresh and made to order ensures you're receiving quality food. Jerk shrimp had PLENTY of rice but I'd like to have a few more shrimp with a side of jerk.

This place is worth the drive - I'd drive further just to keep eating plates and plates of the oxtail. The jerk chicken is also tasty af but the oxtail is incredible. Get the plate, you won't regret it. Order a side of greens - it's the perfect balance of tart, savory, spice and salt. Pour the Grace Scotch Bonnet Pepper Sauce over it all and you will think you've died and gone to Jamaican spicy heaven. I also got a beef pattie. I ended up buying 6 - 3 curry and 3 beef to take home. And order some Jamaican coffee - fucking delicious!

Neat little spot that was unexpectedly delicious. I had lunch today and opted for the lunch special. Chicken (choose one of three kinds, I chose curry) with veggies and rice. It was super delicious. Spicy, but not *hot* spicy. Flavorful spicy. A solid portion of delicious food and even with a $2 drink Jamaican Ginger Beer (non-alcoholic) from the cooler, under $10 with tip. Yum!

Delicious, quality food. So far, I tried the oxtail dinner, jerk chicken and the patty. I am looking forward to trying it all.

BLUF: Great specialty lattes & plenty of seating…read more Drinks & Food (5/5): I got the Valencia and it tasted amazing. If you like Jaffa Cakes, you're going to LOVE this mocha with orange zest. My FIANCÉ also got a maple latte; it's delicious and would try again. Most lattes are milk forward, but this one is perfectly balanced. The maple amount is the perfect aftertaste. I got the gingerbread cookie and dare I say... It was the best gingerbread cookie I've ever had. It was soft, squishy, and gingery. We also got the blueberry muffin, it was good, but a little dry. Pass on the muffin, but get 50 of the gingerbread cookies. Ambiance (5/5): it's in a brewery so there's plenty of seating: tens of tables, high tops, bar seating, and 3 6+ person couch seating. There's a free parking lot for brewery & coffee patrons. They open at 8am on the weekends & Vibrissa opens at 11am, so if you want something on their menu, go after 11am and you get both places to choose from!!! Also their bathroom was CLEAN. 7 stalls (1 wheelchair accessible), 6 automatic sinks & soap dispensers, and a power towel dispenser with a trashcan right next to the door for all the girlies that don't like touching the doors! That was my favorite part. Service (5/5): service was quick and minimal interaction. They fill your cup UP to the top, good luck getting a cap on!

Stopped here to grab some breakfast before hitting the road for the long drive home. We just wanted…read morea couple of bagels and some coffee, thought it would only take a few minutes but luckily we didn't have any coins smaller than quarters for the parking meter or we would have run out of time waiting. Walked in to the very small space and were told we needed to order online, so we got out our phones and scanned one of the many QR code signs posted on every surface anordered - two bagels, one with cream cheese and the other with butter. He confirmed he received the orders immediately- even before the payment had gone through. That seemed like a good sign. We waited and watched while he made salads and other orders for people who presumably ordered online before us, but didn't come in to pick up while we were there. Eventually he made our bagels, put them in cardboard baskets, covered them with aluminum foil (not sure why we needed that cardboard waste -- would have been happy with my bagel just wrapped in foil), covered them with paper towels, put them each in separate paper bags, and placed them on the counter while calling our names (even though we were the only people in the place and he had confirmed he knew who we were when he received the order). We took the bagels and walked across the street and got our coffees from the cute cat cafe with the friendly staff. Hit the road, and pulled out our bagels in the car. First bite was so bad that I tossed the rest of the bagel back in the bag... it was so crunchy it was more of a thick bagel chip, and shards of bagel stuck between my teeth like splinters. Certainly one-of-a-kind, I've never had another bagel like it. About 10 miles later I was hungry enough to get the bagel out and try again... this time I kneaded it through the aluminum foil a bit to bread it up first. It was still very crunchy and sharp, but there were some softer bits toward the middle. There wasn't much flavor, except where it was drenched in butter (and those bites tasted like butter, which isn't a bad taste I guess). TLDR, if you want bagels in Winchester WV skip this place and go to Sclafani's.

The inside gives an older coffee shop vibe and very family owned. The owner is incredibly kind and recognizes everyone that stops by. They have regular and everything bagels and you can get a breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese, bacon or sausage. The portion is huge and it's delicious. The everything bagel is full of flavor and super fluffy but also a layer of crisp. I had the pizza bagel both mornings we came and it was phenomenal. I still think about it and can't wait to come back. The portion is perfect and it also comes on an everything bagel. They also have a lox bagel and you can get bagels to go.
