The service here is beautiful, just like the decor. It's very modern minimal and natural which I appreciate the Mediterranean menu has so many officially appealing and tasty options. The vegetarian hummus plate and mezze plate were excellent. The olive oil cake is amazing if you have room for dessert.

Mezze plate

The food is so good I went twice during my visit to Santa Barbara. Lunchtime: Office workers, ladies who lunch and groups of friends. Cozy atmosphere. Popular items are beautiful salads. There are various seating options: outside, inside (2 tables near the gourmet store), high table with bar stools, and a front patio area with heat lamps. Head to the counter to order. The nice, knowledgeable food runners will bring your food to your table. I chose the Mezze Plate for lunch, which comes with grilled flatbread. All the dips are great and flavorful, and I especially loved the labneh. The grilled flatbread has a soft texture; I wish it were sold as a to-go item, unless I missed it. Check out the great store with a variety of olive oils, chocolate and crackers etc. near the counter, with some of The Daisy's menu items in the refrigerated case. The house made desserts at the counter are great. Dinnertime: Date night, solo diners, groups of friends. Subdued lighting. There are evening plates offered, and the all day plates too. I chose the cauliflower and pea fritters, which are delicious. The combination of salad and tsatziki is refreshing. The lettuce tasted as if just picked from the garden. Everything is delicious here, and with a large menu, and many vegetarian options, everyone could find something they like. Stop by when you're in the area!

Farm Grain Bowl with extra kale and roast vegetables, without farro and pickled vegetables

This post is just meant to reiterate that The Daisy deserves an easy five stars. The Farm Grain Bowl is a delicious and well-balanced combo of perfectly roasted vegetables and delicious tahini sauce. The variety of vegetables changes but is consistently wonderful. Furthermore, they're willing to modify the meal, such as subbing additional kale for farro. Insider tip: ask for a side of hot sauce to level up even more. I don't live in Santa Barbara but the extremely friendly waitstaff remembered us from our first visit last year and even recalled our orders. Even though there are other places I'd like to try in the neighborhood, The Daisy is worth a repeat visit every time I'm in town. Strong recommend!

Fish plate (SO GOOD)

I can't believe this was the first time I've ever dined here! I was never interested in their day items since it involved a lot of chickpea and vegetarian options, but boy, their dinner selection made my mouth drool. I was truly blown away by their dinner plates. I wanted to try their smoked chicken and golden chicken, but their meatballs were calling my name. I loved how the pine nuts were whole in the meatballs. The fish plate was equally incredible. I love how they all had a smokey flavor but in 3 different preparations. I eat a lot of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food in Glendale and this did NOT disappoint. In fact, it made me really proud. I'm hoping they can add these items to the day options because I'd be coming in a lot more!

Beet Salad and Fries

OMG!! This place is AMAZING. I ordered the beet sandwich but made it into a salad. It was so refreshing and all the vegetables were extremely fresh. The fries were also some of my faves. The staff is always really sweet too! I love that you can order at the counter and then relax either outside or indoors.

Lemony Chickpea Sandwich

Great vegan options! The lemony chickpea sandwich was really good. The restaurant was busy but not too crowded during a weekday lunch. The vibe was cute and modern, staff were nice and attentive too!

The moment you enter, the restaurants interior is beautiful, clean and open. The staff is very polite and quick to serve. The only con about the place was ordering at the counter took a while as line got long and if people sample the wines, it takes even longer. But if there was both registers operating, it could be convenient to pay up front and not wait for the check. But you would have to tip in advance. Interesting order system. The food overall was fantastic. Both chicken dishes were incredible. Very flavorful and juicy. The ribs had a nice flavor and the slaw was a nice touch. Hummus was fantastic and is worth getting as a side.

Fries

Cute spot located in the theatre district come for the people watching stay for the food. The service was prompt, friendly and attentive. You make your order at the register and they bring the food to you or sit at the bar and order. They also have a mini shop area to get some provisions. The smoked brisket Bahn mi is a sandwich that has so much flavor in it, it's a party in your mouth. The brisket is juicy and tender basically melts in your mouth. Be ware that the dressing can be a bit spicy. You can also order the sandwich as a salad as well. Extremely filling. The fries are good to share with the group. Did I mention that they have wine on tap?

The Daisy, street view

Cool vibe, a little louder inside if it's busy. Great outdoor seating options as well as indoor. We had a larger group so we reserved a table inside. You order drinks and food at the counter and then food is brought to your table. Order a few different plates to share! With the exception of the lamb & beef kofta meatballs (a little dry and disappointing) everyone really enjoyed their food. The cauliflower and pea shoot fritters were outstanding and the falafel was excellent. The chicken was very good - loved the zhoug and tomatillo sauces!!

There are a lot of things to say about The Daisy and all of them are positive. From the atmosphere to the food, everything was very aesthetically pleasing and tasted very good. We ordered at the cashier before taking a seat in their outdoor area but they have plenty of indoor seats too. I got a Peach Blossom Tea ($4.50) and my husband got their Mizuba Matcha ($6 + $0.50 for oat milk). For whatever reason, I thought my tea would come out iced but it came out hot - No big deal, it had a mild sweetness and a nice flower/peachy taste - Just like the name. The Matcha drink was barely sweetened so it was a little bitter, but it was still pleasant to drink. My husband got the Smoked Brisket Banh Mi ($19) with fries. This comes with garlic aoli, pickled carrots and daikon, cilantro, a chili lime sauce, and tons of tender meat on a baguette. I thought the flavor in the meat was subtle and that the carrot and radish could have been pickled lot longer. The bread was really good. Their fries were crispy and made fresh - Pretty hot when they first came out and they paired really well with the garlic mayo (this was super good) and ketchup they provided us. I got the Daisy BLT ($19) with salad. This comes with green heirloom tomato's, basic garlic aioli, butter lettuce and thick cuts of house smoked bacon all on two thick cuts of sourdough bread. It also came with pickles, which I really enjoyed. I love that they use butter lettuce - it adds a nice soft texture to all of the hardness of the bread and bacon. The salad (with radish shavings and cucumbers) came separately in a bowl which I appreciated and had this really nice, light and refreshing vinaigrette dressing tossed in it. Inside there are things you can buy - Soaps, canned goods, teas, spices, candles, sweets and drinks. They do have bathrooms located outside and you'll need to ask for the password.

the little gems

Doc Holliday said it best: "You're a daisy if you do..." He meant "you're top-notch". And that's exactly what The Daisy is. I wasn't surprised to learn that this is a bigtime local's favorite. Seriously farm fresh veggies with all that flavor that you've been missing; delicious local chicken and creative takes on things like FALAFEL or just a straight-up CHEESEBURGER. We had THE LITTLE GEMS SALAD / add CHICKEN SALAD, add avocado. Sure, you've HAD snap peas and radishes before, but I'd be willing to bet you've never had them this fresh. And those little fresh sprigs on the chicken salad are sharp with flavor. Loves me, loves me not...loves me, loves me not. LOVES ME! Be a daisy. EAT at The Daisy.

We had the most amazing lunch as we passed through Santa Barbara. The grain bowl was an incredible mix of interesting flavors and everything was so fresh and thoughtful. I would return to Santa Barbara just to eat here.

The place was full, including indoor and outdoor seating, great ambience and light level, and lovely string lights above the seating outdoors. To start they bring over a delectable dill popcorn which was a rich, salty, dill and butter creation. Totally set a fun tone for the meal. Then we had the crispy Brussels sprouts (ORDER THESE!!!) they were divine, the sesame and lime combination was reminiscent of a great pad Thai, with the perfect amount of sauce and tiny bites of figs which all worked together in a way I wouldn't have expected. For the mains we had the shrimp toast and the pork ribs, both fantastic both well portioned and both 10/10s. Pork ribs fell off the bone easily and were spicy and tangy without overdoing flavor and the shrimp toast tasted like a great gumbo sauce and the shrimps were big! This is a meal I'll be thinking about and recommending to others for a long time, thank you Lark!

The restaurant was busy. Our server was great. She introduced herself (Giana I believe she said) and helped us understand that the intent of the menu and dining approach is a sharing format. The plates and portion sizes vary depending upon the item. Cocktails: The Lark has a very interesting (in a good way) cocktail menu. Our party tried 5 different cocktails. Everyone loved their drink and commented on how well made they were. Food: The restaurant provides complimentary dill pickle popcorn (10/5) as a snack to get your appetite moving. This unique popcorn flavor was one of the best things I had all night. Everyone in our party agreed. We ordered 40% of the menu. The standouts were the fried chicken (5/5), the duck confit (5/5), and the pork ribs (4/5). Dessert: The chocolate pot-a-crème with banana cream (5/5) and donut holes (5/5) were both very tasty. We had a real good experience at the Lark. My only comment as a first timer was gauging how much food to order. We found the menu items in the Farm and Ranch sections were entree sized plates, while the Ocean section plates varied in size considerably. We consequently over ordered and wasted some food. Although our server Giana was helpful, we could have asked more specific questions to assess the quantity of food better. We enjoyed the restaurant vibe, cocktail program and many of the plates. If I lived in SB, I would have dinner here every other month and enjoy the dill pickle popcorn and the fried chicken with their signature Paloma to wash it all down.

We'd made reservations and were seated promptly when we arrived. The ambiance was warm and inviting. We noticed that the diners' demographic skewed older, but that was fine with us--it made for a relaxing time. We started things off with some cocktails: I got the Opal martini (gin and vodka, with Gorgonzola stuffed Olive--very good) and the hubby got the house old fashioned (not too sweet, also very good). They brought out a small complimentary bread basket, which had two different kinds of excellent bread. Carb avoidance be damned! We ordered the following: - warm seafood salad (lots of fresh seafood--great) - butter lettuce salad with Gorgonzola (so simple and so delicious) - mushroom risotto (delicious! Cheesy with bits of walnuts and asparagus as well as the shrooms) We thought the prices were reasonable prices for the quality, and the service was excellent.
