Update. My wife didn't believe me about how bad the service was at this place so I said hop in the car and let's go. Last time we were too late for breakfast. They asked us to wait thirty minutes. This time we were early. After drinking two cups of coffee we were told our order didn't print and it would be another thirty minutes to wait for our order. So we left. Second time we arrived only to leave with no food. Oh and they ran out butter but no matter. And the poor server who was covering a now show and she was exhausted. Poor family behind us with kids going bonkers because they had waited and theirs didn't print. This place has management issues. read more

5 stars is well-deserved. Our first visit was this morning and we liked the ambiance of the restaurant right away. At 11am it had about 8 other patrons. We were waited on instantly and our order came quickly. The food was excellent as was the coffee. Two wait-staff regularly checked to see if we needed anything. If we wanted a refill, it came right away. We are now local to the area and will visit again. read more

Side note ...... months later now the owner updates my review and basically rants on and on of why I'm lying about the situation, and how we must have ordered beer. My son is 18, so if beer was served to him that's an entire different issue. But it wasn't. Also I was simply stating the facts that we were charged for ever single refill why would I lie about this ? I paid it and just choose not to return which I see now was the right choice with how disrespectful your response was to me, instead of just simply saying I'm sorry for our experience. U failed to mention you and ur husband were not my waiter but both of y'all were at the register and rang us up. So maybe it's you who is not aware of what ur waitstaff is doing or charging. Wast of an hour! My wife and I have eaten here before and it was horrible service, today we wanted to give the new owners another chance. This place may have new owners, however, again after taking our order, 45 minutes later, still no food. When customers that came in after us are being served it makes you question if it something personal. We will never eat here again or should I say try to eat here again!!! read more

Home cooking like mom used to make ... daily specials ... affordably priced ... good portions ... warm, friendly owners and staff !!! Stopped in at The Dam Grill on Hwy 29 near Burnet Tx for breakfast this morning. Our server told us as we sat down that they were running a bit short staffed and that we may have a wait on our food. The restaurant had maybe 20 seated guests and the majority had already been served. There were just two of us and we were in no huge rush, so we placed our order and waited just shy of 30 minutes on our food. As it turned out, the food was well worth the wait ! The eggs were cooked as ordered (over medium), the porkchops were tender, juicy and very tasty !!! So ... (A) - on the food, (C+) - on the service. We'll be back for sure !!! read more

Love this place! I have eaten here a few times now for all meals of the day. Close to a regular by now. Breakfast is always good. Pancakes are huge!! Sometimes have to wait a little long when busy, but it's always worth it. Lunch and dinner are also amazing! The fried catfish is one of my favorite things to eat on Fridays. They have daily specials on other days as well. The burgers are huge, and they provide lots of options for customization. Recently went under new ownership, and they are really sweet, hard workers. The wait staff has also been very accommodating. Had the crawfish tonight, and they were delicious as expected. The five pound platter is plenty of food for 1-2 people and very reasonably priced. The food was really super delicious but even after telling them on the phone and in person when picking up food I was not given the syrup for the French toast. Was out of town visiting so obviously I do not have the condiments I need for the food. Other than that the food was delicious! read more

If you're looking for classic American food, or even catfish or crawfish, you shouldn't drive by this little gem. The servers are very nice and attentive, and I look forward to heading back during the summer to use their new outdoor dining space. This place is a hit or miss. The last couple times we ate there it was not good. Fries were cold and soggy. My husband's chicken fried steak was all crust with maybe 3 bites of meat. They served us burnt breakfast and I mean the toast was black and they felt that was acceptable to bring out for us to eat. We left barely touching our plates and not one person asked us how it was. It's just not what it use to be since the new owners unfortunately. We use to love this place. read more

This place reminds me of any laid back diner that you visit for a cheap and easy breakfast. The environment was relaxing and had fun bits and pieces of Southern History hanging on the walls. For someone who comes from a small town but lives in a large city, it was nice to relax and eat there. The food was delicious and I also enjoyed the coffee. Came in for lunch, and the special was a cheeseburger with fries ($7.25). They have a great selection of burgers with the option to create your own (bacon, jalapeños, grilled veggies, etc) for a little extra. There were three of us, and we all enjoyed a burger (cooked medium well so request otherwise if you like it juicier). We had fried okra, French fries, and onion rings with our meals- all really good / fresh. The service was good, and we had no difficulty with our order. The environment was your classic local grill, but it has been recently renovated so everything looks clean! I would recommend this to anyone in the area looking for a good burger / sandwich for lunch. read more

The restaurant has 5 star prices but it's only a 2 star restaurant. The older waitress will tell you everything that's going if you want to know or not. But the service and the food is good but you won't get much what you pay for. Lol!! If you order a grill cheese with bacon it says a lot of cheese but it only had one slice on it. We used to go a couple times a month for their catfish nuggets on Fridays. THEN everything changed-- they had fillets instead of catfish nuggets. The fillets were NOT desirable. The last time we went there, my husband got spoiled fillets. They were horrible. We won't be returning!! read more

The food was great but our server had something against young people. My husband, daughter, and I had never been here and heard such good things but we're really upset by the way we were treated. Our server neglected us the entire time we were there aside from taking our order, yet she was having full blown conversations with every other table in the building, even those that she was not helping. We are both fairly young and have a seven month old who played contently and was quiet during the meal. By the end of the meal we could tell she was avoiding our table. We had to ask for refills and napkins, which she then brought to us without a single word. Like I said, she is tending to all of her other tables and the tables that weren't hers with no issues. We wanted to try dessert but we couldn't bring ourselves to sit there and be deliberately ignored any longer. read more
