There are surprisingly not very many adult dance classes in Ventura. I am so glad that I came across Got Rhythm Dance. I thought it was just for kids, but there are several adult classes. They have a great community, classes are fun, and all of the folks (staff + other students) are friendly. I just so happen to have signed up when they were running a promotion and signed up for the more classes immediately. I have been going for the past couple of months and always leave feeling good about the class. There was a full blown show at the end of the season in Majestic theatre. That was fun to see all of the other classes (adults and children) . Highly recommend visiting. Meredith and team are awesome! read more

Routines get better every class thus the 5 stars upgrade.This will be the closest thing you will find to choreographed hip hop in Ventura County (and trust me I've searched) and it's comparable to some of the places in LA/SD/OC that I've been too! Drop in are reasonable at only 10$ a class. Classes are small right now which makes learning easy but I'm definitely trying to see if I could bring out more friends. If you want to try some choreographed dancing, drop by every Tuesday nights at 6:30pm and most likely I'll be there hehe! I've attached a clip for those of you curious what "adult groove" looks like - I'm sure there are easier and more difficult versions so don't worry if you're a beginner! I'm shocked to see there aren't a ton of great reviews for this place !! Our daughters (7 and 13) have been taking classes at Got Rhythm for almost a year now & have had a wonderful experience. Our 7 year old began ballet with Megan & she had no prior ballet experience. Megan has done a great job of helping her build her confidence with being new to ballet & she makes the classes super fun!! Our 13 year old does the all levels tap class in the evenings which she loves! It's great that they offer all level classes for older kids interested in trying a new area of dance . read more

Meredith Lee combines cool and creativity with innate intelligence and the ability to identify with the youngsters she instructs. Meredith's choreography , her selection of music and the effort she puts into performance are outstanding . As a mother of three daughters I spent many years at Got Rhythm , observing the classes and the interaction between the girls. The studio also maintains an award winning dance team .The discipline, teamwork and camaraderie that Meredith demands results in lifelong friendships and everlasting memories. I've been dancing on and off for 33 years and I love this dance studio. The teachers are very friendly and there are no egos. Everyone is just there to dance and have fun. Also, they have a great selection of adult dance classes which is very hard to find. A true gem! read more

Funny story, all my life I've designated myself to being a wallflower. In particular, I shied away from most social dance events, and as for the dances that I did go to, I remained tucked away next to the walls of the gymnasium. That doesn't necessarily mean that I hated dancing, it was just that I had too much anxiety when it came to what people thought of me. My shyness and natural meekness was so bad that at the first concert I went to, I tried to refuse getting on the stage when one of the dancers pulled me into the spot light. With the spot light glaring and eyes of about 3 dozen people burning into my soul, I struggled to move rhythmically to the beat. A simple two step would have sufficed. After that moment, I vowed to myself that I would never let that happen and made it a goal to learn how to dance. Fast forward about a decade into the future, and I still haven't learned how to dance. I have made plans to take classes several times during high school and college but never followed through. The one class I did manage observed in college had plethora of talented individuals, but the vibe I got from them didn't feel beginner friendly. My dance class drought came to an end when I found the Got Rhythm Dance & Performing Arts Center website. There, I saw a class (adult groove and hip hop) that fit my area of interest. I was particularly intrigued by the fact that this class was geared towards adults. I wouldn't have to worry about being the only adult in a class full of children haha. Anyways, despite finding a class that fit the description I was looking for, it still took me several months to contact the studio, but when I did, I knew immediately that this would be the right studio. 3 months later, I'm still here. I take classes once or twice a week (depending on the schedule). Each class (mentioned above) is $10 a session Tuesdays and Thursdays. Thursdays are currently on hold for the summer. One thing I've noticed since taking the class is that I'm nowhere near as shy as I use to be when it comes to dancing. I even don't mind being recorded anymore (Amazing!). This class does more than just teach you how to do choreography. It helps you build confidence, flexibility, coordination, and rhythm. I feel like I'll be around here for a while so if you do manage to stop by be sure to say hi. One last thing, Meredith is a great teacher =P. read more

Not a great experience. My 2.5 year old daughter loves to dance so I thought I would sign her up for toddler Ballet and Tap. Meredith offered for us to come for a free trial class, so we did, During the first class, my daughter was very scared and didn't want to participate but by the end of the class she was starting to warm up. I figured that was a good sign so I signed her up for the class. The following Saturday as we walked up to the studio, my child started to cling to me and kept saying "no dance" but we went in to take the class. She was scared the entire time and would have anything to do with it. It was a stressful situation and to make it worse, Meredith basically ignored us. She didn't offer any help or guidance whatsoever. As a dancer my entire life, I would have expected her to try and talk to my child and try and have a moment here and there of one on one time (there was only 2-3 other kids in the class) but she did not. It was like we didn't exist. At the end of the class I asked Meredith if she had any recommendations or if she thought a private session might help. She basically blew me off and said she would eventually get over it. Once we left the class and got in the car, my daughter kept saying "no more dance" and I then decided that maybe she was just too young and I would try it again in a few months time. I emailed Meredith to ask if we could just pay for a "single class" as my child didn't want to continue and she told me there were no refunds and we could just finish out the month. Usually this wouldn't bother me but it did because she saw how scared and upset me child was and instead of refunding us a measly $38 ($60 for the month minus $22 class) she lost a potentially good long term customer. Terrible customer service!! Additionally, the studio is dirty and run down and there were couches in one of the rooms that had been outside when the Thomas fire was happening that were covered in ash and there were young kids sitting on them... not healthy!!! read more

This place is so fun! I tried the adult groove (hip-hop cardio) class yesterday, and everyone was so nice and inviting. Michelle is a great teacher and keeps you moving the full hour! It was my first time going, and we learned a sick hip-hop routine from the ground up, with one great song. It's worth noting you'll need at least a little bit of coordination to take this class. My daughter recently started tap there. She likes it & the teachers couldn't be nicer.

I signed my daughter up for private lessons with Meredith. I paid for the 4 sessions in advance to receive a slight discount per session. At first Meredith appeared friendly and my daughter enjoyed the first session. Unfortunately, come to find out, my daughter had a hair line fracture in her foot, so after an MRI, the ortho dr put her in a boot as she was out of commission for about 8 weeks. I called Meredith and explained the situation to her and let her know that we'd call and make up the 3 last sessions pre-paid when she was back on her foot. That all seemed fine. When she got the go ahead to get back on her foot, I arranged a session with Meredith and with having 3 kids and a crazy schedule, I completely forgot to get my daughter to the private session that morning. That was on me. I get it. The problem that I had with Meredith is that I apologized for missing the appt, but she had an attitude, in which she said that she is very busy and preparing for recitals etc.. She didn't need to take that posture. That was a PAID session that she was fully compensated for. No loss to her. I have one more session, but because of the bad vibe and poor attitude on her end, I'm not sure I feel comfortable sending my daughter back for her last private session. That is not business savvy to alienate a client that probably would have signed up for more sessions. read more

The prices are reasonable, the experience for both adults and kids is unforgettable, great atmosphere,....blah bah blah...let's really get to it: this is a great dance studio across the board that offers competitive prices and is worth every penny. Whether your kid wants to dance competitively or not, this studio offers something for everyone (I should know because my daughter took both routes). Everything you look for in a dance studio will be found at Got Rhythm. Period. But wait, there's more.... Meredith is AMAZING! Naturally, she's a very talented dancer. However, in addition to that, she extends her love for this art to her students. Her level of commitment to her students and their families goes above and beyond what you would normally expect from a dance instructor/owner. She creates friendships and mentors her students beyond the dance studio. I have yet to meet another dance instructor/owner that parallels what Meredith gives. I wouldn't be able to take my daughter to anyone else because we would just walk away disappointed. Got Rhythm has become a second family. Bottom line: don't waste your time looking anywhere else because Got Rhythm is the best. You're welcome. read more
