I don't recommend this clinic I went here as a recommendation from my doctor. Came to loss weight with no medical issues or problems. Had many hopes each visit was $500 for 30 minute visit. Not worth it. I saw Dr. Murali 3 times and actually gained weight, felt more sick and developed high blood pressure issues. He pushed for many medications and surgery my first visit. He wasn't prepared for the meetings and asked similar questions I already answered last time. They never scheduled a sleep study after waiting a month such a waste. Don't go here save yourself $1500 for something else please! read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Garth Davis' for over 3 years now, and can attest that he is a very intelligent, friendly and accomplished physician. He has a great bedside manner, and even though he is very busy and sees thousands of patients he always makes you feel like you are not just a number. He and his father started their practice together years ago and they are quite a pair. When you see the two of them together it's a great dynamic. Their office staff is always friendly, despite running a very busy clinic. I recently went in for a visit and the doc put me on a new 21 Day Challenge diet to try out for the next 3 weeks. It's basically a vegan diet, and after I read up on it I was not a happy camper. I love cheese and yogurt and to have to give those up will be tough. I'm going to do my best to follow the diet as closely as I can and see if his suggestions are beneficial. Although I'm sure they will be - he's right about mostly everything. As a friend said, I have to look at it as an adventure and hope that I get what I'm looking for at the end of it all! read more

I was very under impressed with The Davis Clinic. I did not go looking for surgery, but for help with why my personal weight loss was so very slow despite exercise and tracking calories strictly. (60 lbs so far but very very slowly) After waiting for my appointment nearly 6 weeks, and paying $150 out of pocket (not covered by insurance), I met the doctor. He asked me some questions, gave me a mini-lecture on eating habits around the world, then told me to go to a public website that outlined a vegan diet. He also told me to add several vitamins and supplements (because, I read later, this stringent vegan diet cuts out so much that you won't get these nutrients otherwise). That was it. $150 for a one-size fits all, available for free on the web, vegan diet. No real personal evaluation of what's happening with me. No medical tests to evaluate me. Nothing. I was probably out of the office within 20 minutes or less. I felt very taken advantage of. He was also a bit pompous when I did ask a question or share what I had been told by professionals. Response was in a tone of he is the expert and what do those others know? If you want a non-surgical approach to weight loss, SAVE YOURSELF SOME $$ and bad attitude and google a vegan diet on your own..... or find help elsewhere. I certainly feel I wasted my money. The are the best and most innovative practitioners in bariatric medicine on earth. Lucky for me, Dr Garth Davis and his team happen to be in my home town of Houston. I had traditional roux en y gastric bypass on April 28th, 2013. I am down 90 pounds as of October 21st, 2013 and I'm 20 pounds from my goal weight. Through their nutritional guidance & the addition of exercise through Pilates a few months ago, I have been able to make tremendous and ongoing progress. I've also voluntarily become a vegetarian. I've never felt better. Pursuing gastric bypass through the Davis Clinic has been the best decision I've ever made. oh! And get this: his administrative team went to bat for me with my insurance. One word: Fantastic. The Davis Clinic was recommended to me by my GP. The clinic and its staff are fantastic. At the Davis Clinic, it not just about the surgery, it's about the all-around care and support you receive. Garth Davis, M.D. performed my procedure several months ago. He is an extremely talented surgeon. As a benefit to his patients, he and his wife teach cooking classes and the clinic also has support groups. The classes are excellent. G. Davis is passionate about a plant-based diet and his passion spills over to his patients. It's this proactive all-around approach that leads to success after the surgery. As far as the wait time, it may be a little longer then I would wish, but personally I would rather wait for a great surgeon than be seen on time by a mediocre one. My only regret is that I waited so long to make my first appointment. read more

Dr. Primomo was wonderful. Very personable, professional, caring and honest. I highly recommend him as a physician. His office staff, however, were not so great. I had read some negative reviews about the staff before scheduling my appointment but I figured that everyone has a bad day so I decided to give them a try anyway. It all started when I called to schedule my appointment. The woman I spoke with was rude, short and abrupt. But, I still decided to continue. When I visited the office I wasn't greeted when I walked in, nobody ever smiled (except the doctor) and the medical assistant was rude and condescending. The final straw for me was when I went to check out. The woman was on a personal phone call so she asked me to have a seat. I sat down to wait on her. About 3 minutes later she was on the computer and I assumed she was pulling up my record to check me out and schedule my next appointment. No, she was searching for vacation homes and commenting about the prices and getting other staff members to look at pictures of the different rooms. I ended up just walking out and refuse to schedule another appointment. It's a shame because this wonderful physician has probably lost a lot of potential patients due to his awful office staff. read more

I went back in June to have my lapband lookout that i had put in back in 2006. I did consult with Dr P he was such a great person and very good side manor. The staff however is another story. Dr P recommended for me to have my lapband removed due to complications. I have tried numerous times to get ahold of the office manager left countless emails and messages to get a quote and to setup the surgery. It is now 3 months later and still nothing. I think this is very sad, especially because it is health concerns. My next step is to file a complaint. read more

WAITED AN 1.5 HOURS BEFORE ASKING FOR A REFUND - I went to the Davis Clinic for the first time today off a referral from my PCP. I was excited to see a sign on the window saying to please let the staff know if you have been waiting more than 20 min for your appt since i have a very demanding job and don't have to kill throughout the day. I arrived at the clinic at 2:15 for a 2:30 appt as requested since i had to fill out new patient paperwork. AN HOUR LATER my weight was taken and i was sat in a exam room. Another 20 minutes went by and i finally asked a nurse what was going on. She didn't know but the Clinic Manager Jamie came by my room a few minutes later. She also had no explanation as to what the wait was due to but offered to comp 50% of my appt for the inconvenience. Once the doctor finally showed up to my room, i asked him if this wait time was common at his practice. He said, "yes, we do good work here." I voiced my concern and was obviously a little annoyed. Without a hint of apology, he arrogantly told me that he wouldn't provide me with service if that was going to be a problem. I couldn't believe my ears. What blatant disregard for your patients lives outside your clinic. How could i trust that he would have cared if he helped me or not??! Jamie - Thank you for the hospitality, i know you tried. I was referred to The Davis Clinic by my PCP...BEST DECISION EVER! I was scheduled for gastric sleeve 12/10/13, and canceled with second thoughts/anxiety. After talking with Dr. Primomo (who personally called me back after I called and canceled!), I was reassured that the surgery was the best option for my health. I rescheduled surgery for 12/31/13, everything went GREAT. The nurses at the hospital were SO sweet and very caring! I am back in control of my life now! As a patient I have been pleased with the staff. They are friendly, professional, and complete. However, every time I've been in the office I have not been seen for an hour to an hour and a half after my appt time. I've brought to their attention but they always have some reason to give. If they could actually keep the appt times as they schedule I would give 4-5 stars. read more

I had revision surgery over 5 years ago. I have had multiple surgeries over the years and was dreading the inevitable pain during recovery. The gastric bypass with Dr. Garth Davis as surgeon was the least painful surgery I have ever had. I felt almost no pain after the surgery which was so surprising. The entire Davis Clinic and hospital were fabulous. My revision was due to acid reflux that my lap band was making worse. My acid reflux was CURED. I am one happy lady. read more

Touch and go at best. Dr. Primomo is a caring and considerate physician. Yet, I would recommned that the staff have some soft skill lessons. The follow-up is not present. It is truly up to the patient to follow-up on next steps and their care. Some of the key staff members have a less than desirable approach to patient care. Stand your ground...Dr. Primomo is worth the wait. Office Management, Front Desk, Nutritionist, and Scheduler are AWESOME. Complete the surveys. When UT has had enough complaints they will manage the outcome appropriately as it is costing them revenue and reputation. Good luck. read more

I have only seen Dr Primomo. I just have to say he is the best! He's the reason I give the Davis clinic 5 stars. His bedside manner is awesome and I trust his advice. Some of the office staff isn't very good, however. They won't call you back and seem to not look at charts. One needs an attitude adjustment. It's like a big cloud of doom comes in the room when I see her. I wanted Dr Primomo to do a hernia surgery for me, but ended up having it done as an emergency with a Dr I didn't know bc Primomos assistant wouldn't call back, despite email sent to her and messages. Dr Primomo is amazing, just be pushy if you get a bad officeworker. My neighbor has Garth Davis as her dr, and she adores him. I've never had dealings with him personally though. read more

I've recently started seeing Dr. Robert Davis, and although I appreciate his professional skills as a physician, he has the worst bedside manner I have ever encountered. He is impatient, arrogant, and quite rude. Twice, when I've politely asked him to explain something that was not quite clear regarding his proposed treatment, he exclaimed that he would not repeat himself to me. A few days after he performed a surgery on me, I called his on-call service because I had a bad allergic reaction to the substance that was used to prep me and my wounds reopened 20 min prior to my call. And when he returned my call, he exclaimed "Why are you calling me? It's 8 'o clock at night...what do you want me to do?! I'm not going to call anything in for you. You should've called during the day! I'm not going to repeat myself." Once I asked him if there was an ointment I could buy at the pharmacy, he calmed down, told me to buy Benadryl, and to make an appointment to see him the next day. But I cannot bring myself to do so and subject myself to such treatment again, so will instead make an appointment with one of his associates. I have a strong suspicion that his behavior toward me is due to my ethnic background, since he is an older Caucasian gentleman from South Africa. It burdens me to come to this conclusion, but considering the circumstances, this is a reasonable conclusion. I am very disappointed, and humiliated, and would hate for anyone else to have to endure the treatment that I've endured. Again, speaking to his skills as a bariatric surgeon alone, he is beyond competent. But just FYI, if you are of an ethnic background, try to make an appointment with his associates. read more

I wish I could give a lower score than this. The staff that I interacted with were fine but the doctor i will never recommend in a million years even to my worst enemy. Dr. Robert Davis is the most unhelpful, stubborn man i have encountered. He refused to listen to anything I had to say, even when he asked a question. Perpetually cut me off to talk about how wrong my referring endocrinologist was wrong and how he knew better. Seriously. I never once tried to contradict him, just trying to explain the chain of events that lead me to go to that god forsaken place. He rolled in the ultrasound machine even though I brought him results from a previous one and proceed to scan me without even asking and I never got followup results or a call from him or the office. After three months I get a bill for his radiology services. really?! I call to see what the reason for this is and the medusa on the phone named Joy ( Ironically, i assume) was the nastiest woman to walk the planet. She just cuts me off at every turn and talks down to me like I'm an absolute idiot for wanting to know why I have to pay 200$ for something I never consented to.
