I initially praised the pizza's flavor but noted a grease issue. The owner reached out--which I appreciated--offered a free pizza, and said they reduced cheese to cut grease. I gave it another try, but the new pizza still had pools of grease on top and underneath (photos show the "improved" version). It's frustrating because the flavor is still great, yet the issue wasn't resolved. What disappoints me most is that, in a few minutes of research, I found common solutions for removing grease while maintaining the awesome flavors. With such potential, I hoped they'd put that same diligence into fixing this. If they do, this place could really shine. read more

A new owner took over a month ago and these reviews do not reflect the experience you get when you go! 5 stars aren't enough! My cousin and I met up here tonight for the first time and we shared a medium taco pizza. This pizza is SO good! The crust is delicious and doughy in the best way and instead of taco meat, it is the best chorizo I've ever tasted. The pizza is baked with salsa, cheese, and chorizo, then topped with a lettuce mix and tomatoes and served with sour cream and more salsa. Next time I'm getting it with dirty ranch and probably a side of meatballs because they also sounded delicious. Not only was the food good, but we had great service and it was the perfect atmosphere. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and made us feel very comfortable...it didn't feel like it was our first time there. There was music playing, but it wasn't too loud so we could still hear each other talk. We didn't feel rushed and it was a GREAT place to hang out. Look no further, this is the hands down the best pizza ever. Found this little gem by accident - driving through town. The handmade crust is light and crisp with generous amounts of toppings and cheese. The sauce is savory and flavorful (not too sweet and not too spicy). The atmosphere is comfy, family friendly and lively and fun!! The staff was polite and attentive, and the owner came over and took time to introduce himself to all. I live in the Westpark/Lakewood area and we all know what the favorite pizza place is on this side of town; however, I will travel the to the south side when I am craving pizza and definitely will spread the word to other westsiders. Really enjoy the Pizza from The Declaration Tavern. We have had the Pepperoni and Pickle Pizza...love that the Pepperoni is thick and cups after it is baked, delicious! The Veggie Pizza is the best I've had in a long time, it's their New York Whire plus Broccoli, Spinach, and Ricotta Cheese. And if you're driving by between 11am and 2pm Monday thru Thursday, you can buy Pizza by the slice, you have a variety to choose from and a great way to taste your way through their menu!! I've always seen this place in my neighborhood but I hear it is now under new management. On immediate arrival the staff was very welcoming and attentive. Did not wait long for the order. I liked the sauce, sweet and savory. They don't have an Italian pizza so we made it work with ham and pineapple. It was a win! My fiancée and I loved it. Great local Pizza place to take the kids on a rainy day. The fireplace in the middle of the dining area makes for a unique and pleasant atmosphere. I had the Italian sub and the kids had a plain cheese pizza, but the sauce was so good that we kept asking for sides of it. The first time we ordered carry out it was great. The thin crust cheese pizza was cheesy, hot and baked perfectly. We also got a veggie salad--which was a good size--expected for a $12 salad. Dressing tasted homemade and was delicious. We were so excited to have a great pizza place again nearby. Got carry out again tonight about 3-4 weeks later. Tonight was a very different experience. Got a roasted red pepper and pesto cheese pizza. Pizza had very little cheese and was very overcooked. Crust and top was very brown almost burned. Got 2 Caesar salads one with chicken. We were shocked how small the salads were for $7. And the one with chicken was actually $11 for meat add on. Dressings were still delicious. The pizza-even though WAY overcooked-had a good flavor. So splitting the difference between our 5 star first experience and tonight's 1 star gives a 3 star rating. Angie's Tavern, run by Kelly, Tom Konicki's daughter, has terrific service and food! The family recipes we enjoyed years ago are back! It had been too long since we visited Angie's Pizza which had been owned and run by the Konicki family. (Many of us knew Tom as kids.) After Tom passed away, the food seemed to decline, but the reopening of Angie's Tavern brings quality food, service and memories. With an updated look and addition of a bar, Angie's is a great find. However, the two owners at the bar seemed to lack professionalism as they argued about the place in front of us and others. It made me feel so uncomfortable. Bravo!!!! I boycotted the old Angie's for about 6 years because the quality of the pizza went down so badly when Tom passed. It was nothing but grease and burnt pizzas. I was happy to learn a new owner bought it and to try it out. It was excellent!! No grease pies served here! It tasted fresh! The old Angie's pizzas tasted old. Sauce seems similar but maybe a tad sweeter. Crust seems similar but different. Pizza came out very good! 4.5 stars but I can't do that so I'm giving them 5.
