We stopped at Market Street Inn for dinner and immediately enjoyed the atmosphere. Calvin was an amazing server--friendly, open, attentive, and genuinely concerned that we enjoyed our meal. We started with the shrimp salad on toast points, and I had an outstanding espresso martini. The appetizer was tasty, although it was very creamy such that I could not visibly recognize the shrimp. For dinner, I ordered the seafood Alfredo, and my wife ordered the market-price "Lump Crabcake" entrée. The Alfredo was very good, although the scallops were bay scallops rather than sea scallops, and for the price I expected a little more seafood. Her entrée included vegetables, while I had to order mine separately as an additional side. The biggest disappointment was the crabcakes. Despite being promoted as "lump crabcake," they appeared to be mostly filler with finely shredded crab, with perhaps 15% lump crabmeat. The flavor was good, but not exceptional, and I found the name of the entrée misleading. I am accustomed to a lump crabcake being predominantly lump crab. For dessert, we shared the bread pudding, which seemed unsure whether it wanted to be bread pudding or apple pie. It was fine, but not especially memorable. Overall, we enjoyed the atmosphere, received excellent service, and thought much of the food was good to very good. However, the crabcakes were quite disappointing, especially given the description and market price. Our bill before tip came close to $150, which was a bit of a shock considering the quality and portions. Calvin and the espresso martini were definite highlights, but the crabcakes did not live up to expectations. read more

After being ignored for ten minutes at a very popular local brew pub we were found the New Market Inn. There is both a bar and restaurant here with separate entrances. At mid-day the restaurant was empty and the hostess took us on a secret path into the bar. We had very pleasant service and a nice lunch. read more

It took almost half an hour to get a Bloody Mary with a delay being cited as "it took forever for them to get the olives" I'm not sure exactly what that means, but alright. It's not often I have to just walk out of a place, but unfortunately, that's what happened this morning. Their website posts a Sunday brunch menu, but on arriving, we were told "oh, we have a new general manager", and "we stopped serving brunch a while ago", and "we could probably make you an omelet or something if you wanted". So here's a note to your new "general manager". You aren't very good at your job if you post an entire menu you've just decided to discard. The food was fresh and tasty, the service excellent. The restaurant has a terrace on the river where we had a very nice lunch with our dog. The terrace has some shade and breeze, no mosquitoes. We had the specials of the days: chef salad and a peach and arugula flatbread. Both delicious. The waitress and the hostess were very nice and friendly. My girlfriend and I decided to have dinner here for my 40th birthday because they have a great menu. She got an 8oz NY strip and they loaded it with crab meat. I was truly impressed. Attempting to stick to a low carb diet, I got the 5oz filet mignon, grilled asparagus and a broiled crab cake. The steak was so delicious and tender. I saw an add for this restaurant at the Salisbury airport. It looked like a nice restaurant on the water. I went online and looked at the menu and made a reservation (you really don't need one.) First and foremost, the manager, Tina and our waitress, Emma, were rockstars. Definitely the best assets to this restaurant and my review is of the meal and experience NOT the staff. The kitchen staff either had an off night or needs some serious help. After ordering cocktails (Kudos so the bartender!) my mother and I ordered the crabmeat dip which was DELICIOUS and served with warm bread. I thought we were off to a good start. When the appetizer came, we ordered our main dishes. I got the spare rib special and my mother ordered the Eastern Shore seafood pasta that came with shrimp, crabmeat and large scallops. This is when the problems with the kitchen started. 50 minutes after ordering our entrees, I requested the manager to inquire why our food was taking so long. Spare ribs are cooked slowly way before the restaurant opens. Pasta takes minutes to cook, as does the seafood. Tina explained it was the pasta. When it finally arrived the pasta was missing both crabmeat and scallops. Someone in the kitchen realized they forgot the scallops and 3 arrived within 30 seconds of the plate of pasta. I've always had scallops seared. These were far from seared. The pasta dish was actually quite good, even without the crabmeat. The Alfredo sauce was perfect. My spare ribs were cooked well. The meat was moist and fell off the bone. I've had better, but these were palatable and not covered in a mass amount of sauce. The meal was to come with rice and beans and mixed veggies. There wasn't a bean to be found in the saltiest pile of rice I've ever had. The veggies (a variety of squash and cherry tomatoes) were the best thing on the plate. They were al dente and seasoned perfectly (unlike the rice). The service was great. And Emma certainly was not at fault for the kitchen. The manager, Tina, was great because she offered us a discount on the meal as well as a dessert (which we declined.). We will not be back. The prices here are high and the quality of the food should match the price. There are better, if not just as good, restaurants in the area. read more

Excellent service by Patrick, our server. I was concerned that the jambalaya might be too spicy, so he brought me a sample. (Thank you Patrick!) We had the hot crab dip which as delicious--served right out of the oven accompanied by crispy crusted bread that was tender inside. Perfect! Pretty cool late-night spot that I visited recently with my friends. We sat across from the bar and each booth had its own television. Great spot to check out the game but the edges of the TV are kinda low which means the person at the inside of the booth could be a bit too close to enjoy it. The drinks were good overall. Best part for me was.the DJ who was willing to take request by the bar. The cow bell they ring when they get a good tip was fun for some but can be a bit of conversation interrupt. My mother, sister and I recently took a girls road trip to the Eastern Shore. One of our stops was Salisbury, MD. I researched restaurants and came across Market Street Inn. We had a very enjoyable experience! The food was great (I had the Famous Seafood Alfredo, could have used a bit more crabmeat). Our server Chloe, along with another server we briefly talked with, Lyric, were very personable, which increased the rating to 5 stars. Yesterday we celebrated my daughter graduation. So we stayed local instead of heading to Ocean City. I'm glad we did. Nice restaurant, the food was good. The service was good. My crab cake was ok, but the fries were too salty. Our server brought me a fresh batch of fries without salt. I would visit again. Super safe! Another fantastic meal at MSI. Our local slice of culture. We have had fantastic meals and service there for years. As usual a friendly, easily approachable waitstaff (Bri) was really helpful and right there for us. I have to say, that with the recent quarantine and shut downs, I've had worries about regular, non-corporate restaurants. Market Street Inn is very safe and very respectful of social distancing. Everybody had masks on and the place was spotless! Anyway, on to the menu : momma K and i had wonderful selections from both the regular and specials menu. Apps were Arugula and watermelon salad, mine was General Tsos cauliflower. Not sure who General Tso is but I think he would approve! Dinner was tuscan chicken for me and steamed mussels for momma K. Also a fantastic cab from deep in the cellar. So back to the relevant issue of safety, I can't stress enough how this phenomenal little slice of culture is keeping up with today's troubles. We went for a group happy hour and had excellent food and drinks for a reasonable price too. The cauliflower appetizer is so good. It was cooked perfectly, still firm, and not greasy. The shrimp avocado toast was delicious. We also had the jerk chicken which had black beans, corn and scallions and really enjoyed it. I stopped here for a quick lunch between appointments on a weekday and had a very average lunch experience at a fairly average lunch spot. I had a greens salad with jerk chicken. The chicken was tender and spiced well, and the honey mustard they serve with it was quite good. My server was really great, he stopped by just enough without being overly solicitous. I give it three stars because as an out-of-towner, I'd really expect the parking situation to be more clearly labeled. This stop was almost a bust because I could only find permit parking and metered parking - nothing set aside for restaurant patrons. I normally keep a stash of quarters, but the unexpected monster tolls on the bay bridge emptied my pockets. I hope this place gives the parking some thought. read more

Visited Market Street Inn last night. Noticed you had a 3.99% surcharge for credit card payments. What year are we in? Why go backwards? Carrying cash is not only an inconvenience, it's a liability/safety risk. This surcharge was a topic of conversation for a good ten minutes amongst my party. Kind of kills the vibe. I'll probably be back, but only if invited by others. Personally, I won't be choosing your establishment when I'm asked for suggestions of where to go for dinner. Namely for the credit card surcharge. To me, it makes more business sense to build the processing cost into the price. I've been here twice and been extremely disappointed with the service on both occasions. Earlier this year, pre-Covid, my friends and I were seated and then left to wait for an hour. We were chatting and lost track of time, but it seems they were completely unaware of us until I notified the host. Our meal was comped, which was nice. I figured it was a fluke. Fast forward to September, when I placed an order for carry out at 5:40 on a Wednesday. I arrived at 6:15 and was told the order would be out soon. It took another 15 minutes and me asking for a refund before the order was ready. The food has been good on both occasions but not worth the hassle. read more
