While browsing, I overheard the owner(?) tell a couple of customers before me that they had a brick & mortar shop & proceeded to give the customer a $5 off coupon for when they go in the store. Maybe I didn't spend enough money, but I was not told about the brick & mortar shop nor was I given a coupon. Maybe I'm too sensitive, but it was a pretty disappointing experience. I did buy a pretty dress (for $28) and while there were other notable pieces, they also had stained items which seems like something Goodwill would do? Or maybe I just don't understand Vintage. Oh, well.

I fell head-over-heels with a custom tourmaline ring that was put in the case that morning. They were super accommodating to our budget and told us to come back of it ever needs a cleaning. After contacting Mike and Greg's, my wife and I paid them a visit at their shop. We went into detail of how terri le the estate sale experience was, including how a few of the pro buyers would down tight lie to score a better price. In other words - preying on the ill-informed and inexperienced. After my sob story, they informed me that the price of gold had already dropped and that it was about to drop again. On top of that, they had already almost reached their max allowance for purchasing. This meant that I needed to make the sale that day to secure the best going rate for gold at that time. I understand there's gold weight, there's gold melt weight, etc. So when we left that day, we felt pretty good about things. Then I had that seller's remorse. And damn it, I was right to. I sold them a 6.5oz, solid gold charm bracelet, some gold earrings and a necklace. The charm bracelet had a late 1890s solid gold, $5 coin with aruby horseshoe surrounding it. It would've cost about $1000 for a good jeweler to remove the horseshoe. Based on research, even a good condition value appraisal would have brought in ÷$30k. We left the shop holding a check for approximately $7k. I know. Should've done my research, it's my fault. He was a good salesman. In the end, if I'd done my due diligence and found a buyer (which I now have), I stood to make at least $32k. So don't fall for their pricing tactics and definitely get a 2nd and maybe a 3rd quote before selling anything. Especially them. Update - the price of spot gold has increased from $2100 per Oz (June 2025) to $3740 per Oz (Sep 2025). His was quote was for $1200. Again he was adamant that the price of gold was dropping fast and that I'd loose big time if I waited even two days.
