Great food and service We always get the 6 pics fish dinner and split it as the is so much food.

Fried mushrooms front, fried clams, middle, fried oysters back right.

10 stars for atmosphere. It's eclectic and fun. The service was likewise quite good. We came between lunch and dinner, so that might have made a difference. The food was a lot! Filling and good. Not out of the ballpark good, but plenty good enough. We had a fried oyster dinner and it was HUGE! Honestly. The portions are all huge. I had the fried clams and the fried mushrooms. Clams were meaty, not quite east coast in 1975 but very close. Mushrooms were also good. Something extra on the seasonings but interesting. All in all, a good meal and would recommend

The Best Fish And Chips in Oregon. Cute atmosphere with model ships and planes, 2 big fish tanks. We tried fish and chips up and down the coast. #2 would be Mo's, but no contest. Depoe has big chucks of fish in a light breading. Fresh fries, mounds of salad with bay shrimps. Service is quick and friendly.

Super cute space that is full of decorations and is quite small. Calamari was delicious!

The Depot Cafe is a cool spot with a lot of atmospheric eye candy to check out while you're waiting...to order...to get your food...to get a refill. I tried to warn my friends when we walked in and I saw them make a beeline to the very furthest, most out of the way darkened booth in the place. I noticed right away that there was only one server on duty. Table selection is very important in a busy restaurant...choosing an out of sight, out of mind dead-end booth, well, that's akin to intentionally falling into an oubliette. You remember the 1986 film Labyrinth? Our protagonist, Sarah, ended up in an oubliette in the Labyrinth. * Impromptu history lesson: Victims in oubliettes were often left to starve and dehydrate to death...yikes! So, choose where you sit wisely! Anyway, service was friendly enough and our server certainly wasn't trying to ignore us. She was working hard to take and get out orders and everything in-between...we were just in the oubliette. Don't sit there, okay? The food was just average for fish & chips. The home cut fries were undercooked and could have used more time in the fryer. Based on the overall reviews, I'm gonna say this was probably just an off night for the restaurant. My tip if you're going to dine here: Sit at the counter...stay out of the oubliette, no matter what the Goblin King Jareth tells you!

Large fish & chip platter that we shared.

We had a great waitress who was very attentive, a large platter of food that was excellent, and enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. We went for lunch on Aug. 31, 2024.

I asked for a cafe by Eugene train depot. You gave me Albany, 40 miles away. Can we try it again, or should I forget it?

I asked if they needed my name and was told by the hostess "no." I thought it was a little weird, but went with it. My coworker arrived first and he said reservations for 5. They asked him for a name! Haha, he said they looked at him like he was crazy. So that was weird. Otherwise, once we all arrived, the service was very friendly and attentive. Ambiance - it was open and had a mix of high top tables, low top, and bar seating. When it's busy, it's quite noisy. Not a place you can really carry a long conversation. I did notice there was a loft area that looks like a private party/gathering could be held. Once everyone left after the lunch rush, it was much quieter. Food - Yum! We started with the lemon pepper wings, which were recommended by our wait staff. The worst thing with wings are when they are dry and jerky like. This was not the case at Loafers. The wings were piping hot when they came out. Too hot to eat immediately. Once you got into the meat of the wings, it was moist. The lemon pepper flavor was great. Citrusy and peppery, not too salty. The wings came with baby carrots and celery sticks. I got the Buddha bowl which includes Rice, carrots, purple cabbage, avocado, sesame seeds, micro cilantro, mung bean sprouts, watermelon radish & peanut sauce and added seared ahi. I requested no rice and the waitress said it would be nothing if I don't get the rice, so she suggested getting salad. The bowl was massive. I'm not sure I needed the salad. It was really filling and the tuna was delicious. I felt the peanut sauce was a bit salty so I barely used it. Tuna has a pepper crust, so it was also flavorful. Overall, happy with our experience there for our team lunch.

Service was quick despite the full dining room, and the menu selection was expansive. Lots too choose from, although a bit on the pricier side. Portion sizes decent, but appearance and taste were absolutely fantastic! Would come again if friends/family visited, but not an every week type of place. Changing table available in one of the restrooms, high chairs available, although loud environment can be distracting for some babies. Overall good experience!

Rainy Day, Great Bar Seat, and One Memorable Meal…read more It was a cold, rainy Oregon afternoon when I stumbled into Castor, and I'm glad I did. There happened to be one open seat at the bar, which is my favorite place to dine when traveling. Sitting at the bar lets you talk story with the bartender, learn the menu, and watch the cocktails come together. If you're eating alone, I highly recommend grabbing a seat here. The bartender was friendly, easy to talk with, and clearly knew both the menu and the craft behind the bar. One thing that stood out right away was their use of fresh local ingredients, which really shows up in the flavor of the dishes and drinks. I started with the Golden Manhattan, made with a pecan-infused bourbon that was fantastic. It had a rich, slightly nutty flavor with warm vanilla notes and just the right touch of sweetness. Smooth, balanced, and a great way to kick off the meal. Alongside that I ordered the chorizo clam chowder, which brought a creamy base with just the right amount of spice from the chorizo. Comfort food with a little personality. For dinner I switched gears and ordered the Creole Sour. This one really stood out. Bright citrus up front, a smooth bourbon backbone, and a subtle spice note that tied perfectly into the Creole theme. It had that classic sour balance, tart, slightly sweet, and refreshing without overpowering the drink. Dinner was the gumbo with hot bread and butter, and it delivered. Deep flavor, a nice slow warmth from the spice, and hearty enough to make the rainy Oregon weather feel like part of the experience. To finish things off I kept it simple with a neat pour of Ben Holladay, which made for the perfect nightcap. The staff were welcoming and relaxed, which made the whole experience feel easy and comfortable. This is the kind of place that works whether you're dining solo, meeting friends, out with someone special, or grabbing dinner with a group. The price point landed right where it should be for the quality of food, cocktails, and service. If you're in Corvallis and can grab a seat at the bar at Castor, take it. Order a cocktail, settle in, and enjoy the ride. It turned a rainy afternoon into one heck of a meal.

The shrimp and grits was bland and not very appealing. The frites were what seemed like a lot of small pieces and bits you'd find in the bottom leftovers of a big bag of pre-cut frozen French fries and, frankly, were overcooked. The French onion soup tasted almost burned, not rich and deeply flavored as would be expected of such an item. There was nothing about the meal that screamed or even whispered "fine dining" except for the price. We won't be back.
