Yes you could take public transportation to and from the desert to LA. Didn't even know that was a thing until a couple of months ago. It save your sanity with sitting in traffic not moving. As least this way, you have a reason but to just relax and sit there. It's a good concept and people do utilize it. Also PS airport has a good rental area. They're all pretty much nearby each other so you don't have to drive around trying to find the kiosk. Rental pickup is outside where you find the car yourself but it's pretty simple. Same as returning it. Not only it's an international airport, it's small and easy to maneuver and find your way. Way less stress than the major airport in town and you can get in and out without the crazy traffic. It's a win win. Oh, a lot of the airport is outside and it's beautiful.

Small town feel…read more It's no podunct station, its a bright, clean, modern, and efficient airport just outside of LA and home 47 miles to the south. Every time I use this airport I'm reminded of San Jose airport but much more modern. Clean and efficient just as I imagine the home office likes it. Drop-off and parking is quick, I didn't have to deal with traffic or crazy crowds. TSA services were fairly amiable and the process to enter the terminals was seamless. I didn't have to wait long! Additionally, there's plenty of amenities for people young and old. I saw vending machines with Pokemon TCG items and other entertainment. There's two sizable gift shops with plenty of books, T-shirts, and Californian memorabilia for out-of-state guests. All stores were well-stocked and clean, I had fun browsing the shelves. One thing I enjoyed was the selection of restaurants and eateries inside. I saw a full-size Mexican restaurant and bar, brunch eatery, a Dunkin' and many name brand fast food chains. There's something for everyone here, I was never bored! If you're into airport lounges there's a place called Aspire that has a relaxing space for you to enjoy. Seats were comfortable and most boarding spots were easy to locate! Waiting areas had decent seats with great leg room. Restrooms were a bit far from waiting areas, but well-maintained. My most memorable experience at ONT airport was when a baggage claim lady helped me place a missing bag report as Houston's Frontier Airlines forgot to load my checked bag and sent over an other person's bag! The lady immediately asked for my information and my bag was quickly located. I received my bag a few days later (it was shipped to my house).

Big clear signs. - Located far out in the middle of nowhere. - When you enter the parking lot, you get a parking ticket that doesn't clearly say whether to leave it on the dashboard of your parked car or to bring it in to the building. Not sure whether parking needs validation. The ticket has a spot that says "STICKER HERE", but I asked the attendant. He said parking's free the 1st 30min. Wish this info was clearly posted at the parking entrance.

I checked my baggage, went through TSA, and arrived at my gate in 45 minutes. I can't help but wonder how many people plan to visit L.A. for the 2028 Olympics know about ONT as an alternative to LAX. ONT may not have as many shops like LAX or LGB, but it has a lot vending machines. I even found several Kabins for people to wait with privacy. What a great idea! One thing ONT needs to work on is to provide charging stations in the waiting area for passengers. Passengers should also bring a light jacket in the carry-on as A/C in the waiting area can get really cold.

The first time, a couple months ago, Alaska Airlines gave us a hard time about arriving too late. I should be able to print my boarding pass, but for some reason they retire you to go speak to an agent. Then TSA was also horrendous and inefficient. Suck a small airport should not have these issues. LAX is more efficient, JFK is better. Palm Springs is small and better. Minneapolis is seamless. This place STINKS!! Today, we were running late. When we get to the counter, we're informed we've missed the plane and need to rebook. There were still 40 minutes with no TSA line to board. Alaska then informed us we needed to arrive 50 minutes before the flight. Nope, now we had to pay $150 to rebook/missing fought. We are now waiting 6.5 hours until the next flight because the idiots at the counter could not figure out how to get stuck a simple task done. Then the other representative was extremely rude to the family checking in an oversized bag. Nasty all spend this morning and my only other time. We learned we could not take our vehicle out since our reservation was activated. So we had the option to go to a coffee shop or chill out for a quarter of the day since the employee needed to get $150 out of us. Shameless!! Fck this airport.

Not only was it a way to drastically cut our expenses (domestic flights from within Mexico are obviously way cheaper than international flights from LA), but it was such a calm, streamlined, easy operation. We got to the parking lot early for our 7am flight out of Tijuana, walked to the check in terminal & that's where we encountered our one and only 'hiccup.' Because we had 3 children with us, the Viva desk check-in said we needed to speak to a representative but we were told the only one on duty at that time was in the restroom. Luckily the stand alone kiosk on the other side of the area worked out fine. All of this was more of a Viva issue than a CBX one. We breezed through the bridge over the boarder & customs took no time at all. It was one of the quickest customs experiences I've ever had. We got dumped out right at the bag check area & were on for our trip. Coming home was just as easy. We got our bags and followed the well marked signs to CBX to walk over the boarder & do customs. Customs took a tad bit longer than going to Mexico, but that's more of a US thing than CBX. We still got through in was less time than expected, even when arriving on a Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend when I would normally expect huge crowds of people trying to get in to the country. In all, we saved hundreds of dollars even after paying for CBX & parking on location. We will always be using them from here on out for any family trips to Mexico.

Almost immediately, a male employee approached my wife and told her to move the car because the vehicle in front supposedly needed room to leave. However, there was clearly plenty of space for that car to exit, and there was no turn signal or indication that it was trying to pull out. The interaction felt unnecessary and abrupt, especially given how quickly we were unloading and the light traffic at the time. Afterward, the employee stood in the roadway to block cars so I could pull out, which felt excessive and awkward. This isn't an elementary school drop‑off where traffic needs to be manually stopped, and anyone familiar with airport drop‑offs knows they can be tight and fluid. I have never experienced this kind of situation at any other airport, and certainly not under similar circumstances. The handling of this felt unreasonable and made an otherwise simple drop‑off frustrating for no clear reason.
