Here, it's literally you drive through, the departure and arrival gate is all on one side. It's small so it's simple to get in and leave. For something this small, it's also an international airport. All in the same building is where rental is located. The counters are inside by luggage claim. Cars are parked outside next door where you collect the car yourself. Return is easy as well by dropping cars off where you pick it up. You can literally driving around the airport in a couple minutes without traffic as it's loops around. Plus it's not that busy. A small airport but does have a major punch. Also a beautiful outdoor airport. Plus the Surfliner Bus picks up here to take you to Fullerton where connections with Amtrak goes to Los Angeles.

Drop-off and parking is quick, I didn't have to deal with traffic or crazy crowds. TSA services were fairly amiable and the process to enter the terminals was seamless. I didn't have to wait long! Additionally, there's plenty of amenities for people young and old. I saw vending machines with Pokemon TCG items and other entertainment. There's two sizable gift shops with plenty of books, T-shirts, and Californian memorabilia for out-of-state guests. All stores were well-stocked and clean, I had fun browsing the shelves. One thing I enjoyed was the selection of restaurants and eateries inside. I saw a full-size Mexican restaurant and bar, brunch eatery, a Dunkin' and many name brand fast food chains. There's something for everyone here, I was never bored! If you're into airport lounges there's a place called Aspire that has a relaxing space for you to enjoy. Seats were comfortable and most boarding spots were easy to locate! Waiting areas had decent seats with great leg room. Restrooms were a bit far from waiting areas, but well-maintained. My most memorable experience at ONT airport was when a baggage claim lady helped me place a missing bag report as Houston's Frontier Airlines forgot to load my checked bag and sent over an other person's bag! The lady immediately asked for my information and my bag was quickly located. I received my bag a few days later (it was shipped to my house).

I tried it myself flying United to Chicago. It was such a breeze compared to LAX. Today, maybe it's still a breeze to check in, drop the bags and go through TSA. It helps to be TSA precheck to breeze through that line especially if you travel alot. Fil-A-Chic will be opening soon. There is a vending machine to get a hot bowl of ramen. If you're having a hard time getting Pokémon packs there's a vending machine for that too. It always looks full like they're not selling. Must be the price. One difference now is most of the flights are full. Back then not so much. It could use some remodeling now just to not look a little run down. I don't mind much. I like the convenience of breezing through to the departure gates.

Not only was it a way to drastically cut our expenses (domestic flights from within Mexico are obviously way cheaper than international flights from LA), but it was such a calm, streamlined, easy operation. We got to the parking lot early for our 7am flight out of Tijuana, walked to the check in terminal & that's where we encountered our one and only 'hiccup.' Because we had 3 children with us, the Viva desk check-in said we needed to speak to a representative but we were told the only one on duty at that time was in the restroom. Luckily the stand alone kiosk on the other side of the area worked out fine. All of this was more of a Viva issue than a CBX one. We breezed through the bridge over the boarder & customs took no time at all. It was one of the quickest customs experiences I've ever had. We got dumped out right at the bag check area & were on for our trip. Coming home was just as easy. We got our bags and followed the well marked signs to CBX to walk over the boarder & do customs. Customs took a tad bit longer than going to Mexico, but that's more of a US thing than CBX. We still got through in was less time than expected, even when arriving on a Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend when I would normally expect huge crowds of people trying to get in to the country. In all, we saved hundreds of dollars even after paying for CBX & parking on location. We will always be using them from here on out for any family trips to Mexico.

I have flown out of the Tijuana airport a few times in my life, the most recent time being last…read moreweek. It was the first time I went to that airport since CBX had been constructed. Hubby and I were headed to Puerto Escondido, which is very expensive and very time-consuming to fly to from the airport in San Diego. However, flight prices and times were much more reasonable from Tijuana. Thanks to CBX, we didn't need to find anyone to cross the border and drive us directly to the airport, especially as our flight departed at 5:40 AM. It was nice to have an easy drop off on this side of the border. Anyway, we were dropped off on the US side, and had pre-purchased CBX tickets online for $50 per person, round trip. I felt that the price was very fair for the staffing and amenities along the way. We had already reserved a rideshare to drive us to CBX, but I saw the secure parking lots and realized that parking there is also a valid, safe option. It appeared that some of the secured parking cost about $30 per day, making it a good option depending how may days you would like to park your car. Anyway, when we entered, there were people guiding us, as it wasn't too crowded at that early hour. You scan your CBX ticket, your boarding pass, and your passport. Then you are able to walk through the barriers. There are escalators and elevators to get to the bridge, and signs stating that there is assistance available for people with disabilities. The bridge was clean and air-conditioned. We walked through customs just prior to entering the Tijuana airport. When I had learned about CBX, I was reluctant. A friend of mine told me that she had walked much further in various airports. It is true. The walk is short and easy Upon coming back to the states, we learned that there were several taco and other food trucks on the US side of CBX, as well as Starbucks and a well-known mall pretzel company. All in all, I am grateful to have a way to access the TJ airoprt in a very easy and affordable way. I plan to continue to use CBX for more affordable flights south of the border.

Food and shopping options are a bit limited, but it's a smaller airport so no big deal for me. Seating is usually plentiful but the tables with the power outlets go by pretty quickly. Sometimes the flight attendants have a mic so you can hear updates, but obviously sit closer to the gate out if you really want updates or to correctly know when to line up.

Almost immediately, a male employee approached my wife and told her to move the car because the vehicle in front supposedly needed room to leave. However, there was clearly plenty of space for that car to exit, and there was no turn signal or indication that it was trying to pull out. The interaction felt unnecessary and abrupt, especially given how quickly we were unloading and the light traffic at the time. Afterward, the employee stood in the roadway to block cars so I could pull out, which felt excessive and awkward. This isn't an elementary school drop‑off where traffic needs to be manually stopped, and anyone familiar with airport drop‑offs knows they can be tight and fluid. I have never experienced this kind of situation at any other airport, and certainly not under similar circumstances. The handling of this felt unreasonable and made an otherwise simple drop‑off frustrating for no clear reason.
