Picking up a rental car at one of the station has been a breeze. Driving in has always been a breeze without all the crazy traffic. The airport isn't that busy but a nice small international one. Picking up rentals cars was simple. The different rentals places are located at the end of the airport. They're pretty much close to each other as the counters are one after the other. Check in for cars was a breeze and pick up your car outside. Everything is self serve. But also, I love that you can take the Amtrak Chartered Motor coach, a shuttle bus. There's a stop at the end of the airport right next to the rental car. Get on the bus which takes you all the way to downtown Fullerton where you connect to the Amtrak and go down to Los Angeles. That was a game changer finding out that I can do public transportation instead in of driving and sitting in traffic. There's always loads of parking whenever I'm coming through. So based on the charter bus and rental car at the airport, it's alway been a nice experience. Haven't tried a flight here but with a small airport, they tend to be way easier than the hustle and bustle of your larger international airport.

The airport is by a mountain range and there are some beautiful views upon landing. Rental cars are provided on the field by Go Rentals and they are nice and guarantee a car upon landing, although rates can be pricy for an economical car. The Bermuda Dunes airport is close to one of the top rated bakeries on Yelp, the TKB Bakery with a 5-star average with over 2500 reviews (about a 10m drive away). I highly recommend stopping there for lunch after you land for one of their famous sandwiches. This airport is also the much more economical option to access Palm Springs, CA. There are no landing fees and overnight fees are under $15 for a single engine piston. Fuel prices are reasonable and the staff are so kind and nice. It's only a 30 minute drive from Palm Springs, CA as well.

I have flown out of the Tijuana airport a few times in my life, the most recent time being last…read moreweek. It was the first time I went to that airport since CBX had been constructed. Hubby and I were headed to Puerto Escondido, which is very expensive and very time-consuming to fly to from the airport in San Diego. However, flight prices and times were much more reasonable from Tijuana. Thanks to CBX, we didn't need to find anyone to cross the border and drive us directly to the airport, especially as our flight departed at 5:40 AM. It was nice to have an easy drop off on this side of the border. Anyway, we were dropped off on the US side, and had pre-purchased CBX tickets online for $50 per person, round trip. I felt that the price was very fair for the staffing and amenities along the way. We had already reserved a rideshare to drive us to CBX, but I saw the secure parking lots and realized that parking there is also a valid, safe option. It appeared that some of the secured parking cost about $30 per day, making it a good option depending how may days you would like to park your car. Anyway, when we entered, there were people guiding us, as it wasn't too crowded at that early hour. You scan your CBX ticket, your boarding pass, and your passport. Then you are able to walk through the barriers. There are escalators and elevators to get to the bridge, and signs stating that there is assistance available for people with disabilities. The bridge was clean and air-conditioned. We walked through customs just prior to entering the Tijuana airport. When I had learned about CBX, I was reluctant. A friend of mine told me that she had walked much further in various airports. It is true. The walk is short and easy Upon coming back to the states, we learned that there were several taco and other food trucks on the US side of CBX, as well as Starbucks and a well-known mall pretzel company. All in all, I am grateful to have a way to access the TJ airoprt in a very easy and affordable way. I plan to continue to use CBX for more affordable flights south of the border.

I used CBX to fly from TIJ to San Miguel Allende 10 years ago, and recently to Cancun. Both times were uneventful, exactly how I like my airport experiences to be. Purchase your CBX pass and parking ahead of time. Parking is priced cheapest in the dirt lot and most expensive in the covered/paved lot. I prefer the Goldilocks of uncovered paved in Lot A up front. Upon arrival, scan your CBX ticket and boarding pass (you can link them and just scan boarding pass as well, but don't need to). Same on the way back.

Almost immediately, a male employee approached my wife and told her to move the car because the vehicle in front supposedly needed room to leave. However, there was clearly plenty of space for that car to exit, and there was no turn signal or indication that it was trying to pull out. The interaction felt unnecessary and abrupt, especially given how quickly we were unloading and the light traffic at the time. Afterward, the employee stood in the roadway to block cars so I could pull out, which felt excessive and awkward. This isn't an elementary school drop‑off where traffic needs to be manually stopped, and anyone familiar with airport drop‑offs knows they can be tight and fluid. I have never experienced this kind of situation at any other airport, and certainly not under similar circumstances. The handling of this felt unreasonable and made an otherwise simple drop‑off frustrating for no clear reason.

Literally go up the escalator/stairs, through TSA, and then turn right and the terminal is literally right there. There are times where there's only 1-5 people ahead of me in line at TSA and you don't have to take your shoes off anymore, making the process so much faster and smoother. Food and shopping options are a bit limited, but it's a smaller airport so no big deal for me. Seating is usually plentiful but the tables with the power outlets go by pretty quickly. Sometimes the flight attendants have a mic so you can hear updates, but obviously sit closer to the gate out if you really want updates or to correctly know when to line up.
