They are family owned and operated by the Lantz family since 1972 and they are known for having the best quality diamonds, including the perfectly cut internationally known Hearts on Fire Diamonds. My friend and I were walking around the Claremont Village when we decided to stumble in. My friend has been with her boo for over 8 years so it is time for some subtle hints!! Or maybe some not so subtle hints. We immediately disclosed that we were just in the area browsing for fun, but Ray was still incredibly friendly and welcoming. He had a warm personality that you can only find at a mom and pop shop jewelry shop. My friend had never gotten her ring finger sized before... UNTIL NOW!! Hint Hint if Andrew is reading this, MT's ring size is a size 4!! Ray welcomed us to the fancy Bridal ring section where we were thoroughly informed about diamonds and the 4 Cs - carrot, cut, color and clarity. The quality of the diamonds here at the Diamond Center are really on point. They are in the 80th percentile plus in quality. The FUN PART was where we sat there for about an hour trying on a bunch of rings. I am always going with my friends on their ring journeys, but this is the most welcomed I felt during the process. The large jewelry stores can be intimidating or unwelcoming based on my previous experiences. My friend and I both felt so comfortable with Ray's guidance and we both found rings we loved!! I didn't mean to... but... yeah... I caught feelings for the bling bling. To all the guys out there, *ahem ahem* specifically Andrew, The Diamond Center has ZERO INTEREST FINANCING FOR 12 MONTHS!! Woo hoo :) You can budget and make appropriate monthly payments, and it'll be paid off in no time. They have great warrantee plans here too where you can come back for resizing, cleaning, other needs, as long as you don't completely lose the whole ring. I had a very good experience getting some watches repaired and working again at the Diamond Center. It really is a first-class business, from the gentleman who opens the door for you to the many friendly people who work there. I brought in 3 watches which I hadn't worn in decades. The person who helped me, Ashley, was very straightforward and clear about the repairs and costs. Although she indicated a few weeks' turnaround , it took only a day. One of the pieces ended up not being immediately fixable, and when I asked if they thought further evaluation or repair would be worth it, they said no, not unless the piece had personal value, because, they found, it isn't that old and the repair price, they suggested, would exceed its value. They were very honest and professional and friendly. I will definitely return to the Diamond Center for all of my jewelry needs and wants. Ray is amazing!!! My fiancé had been looking at engagement rings since April 2019(?) and quickly found the one he wanted for me. He contacted Ray, since the ring was in stock at the store. They both remained in contact. Fast forward January/February 2020, my fiancé asked Ray if they had the ring in a round halo (originally, he was looking at cushion halos). Ray stated he was able to get it in a decent amount of time. My fiancé made a trip to the Diamond Center, which is located in the heart of downtown Claremont, and worked with Ray in customizing the engagement ring. On May 2020, my fiancé proposed to me! The ring was too big on my finger (size 6.5) so I wanted to get it resized ASAP. Because of COVID, Ray was taking appointments only. We went into the store (this was my first time setting foot into Diamond Center) and the store is just absolutely beautiful! I might be a little biased as the store is royal purple and purple is my favorite color. We explained to Ray that the fit of the ring was too big for me and he had me try on each sizer ranging from size 5-6. I put on size 5.5, which was still a loose, tried on the 5 and it was snug. Ray could tell that I wasn't comfortable with a 5 and he had me try on the 5.25 and without hesitation, he said this is a perfect fit! Enough room for the summer and the winter, it'll spin very little. Normally, I like my rings to fit a little loose since I was afraid I would gain weight in the future. However, Ray reassured me that a 5.25 is just perfect, given my ring is top heavy. I was there contemplating for a while going back from a size 5 to 5.25 and 5.5. Then I just went with my gut and didn't want to question Ray too much as he is an expert on this and has been doing this for so many years. Knowing that Ray didn't hesitate in telling me that a 5.25 is perfect, it provided me with a lot of comfort and ease. Because my ring is unique, he explain exactly what he will have to do with the ring so that we were fully aware. Ray stated that it would take 2 weeks for my ring to be done. Obviously, I was a little sad to part ways with my engagement ring but seriously, this is such a first world problem compared to what's been happening in this world with COVID. However, I got the ring earlier than expected and was so happy! It was such a nice surprise. I went to go pick up the ring and it was the PERFECT FIT!! Enough room for the summer when my fingers swell up! Even though it is cold/warm weather now, I have enough gap space but my ring does not spin. It only does when I run it in extreme icy cold water, but who does that?! I inspected the ring and I couldn't tell it was cut. The gold melted perfectly together (rose gold and white gold), which made me even happier as my ring's band is quite unique. My experience with Ray in the Diamond Center was so calming, respectful, and easy! He took the time to answer all my questions and he let me know that my fiancé really took the time and effort to make my customized ring perfect. Ray and my fiancé worked together very well and we are thankful for Ray's patience and expertise. We'll be stopping by here a little later this year to look at wedding bands. I believe? we're so rude to me and my son, We went in to have a family heirloom looked at and they both made us feel very uncomfortable and embarrassed me in front of other customers. Because I did not want them to take my Diamond to the back of the store out of my site. She comes to me takes my Diamond without testing it and loudly says... it's fake! It's not real. I took several items in to be assessed for repair and redesign. The advice I received was unbiased and honest. We first visited The Diamond Center on a tip from a friend that if children come in and ask for a gemstone, the store will give them a polished rock in a jewelry bag. My rock-loving kid demanded we go and we were so glad that we did. The store has a wonderful selection of unique and special pieces that you won't find at the chain jewelry stores that are so pervasive, including a selection of vintage jewelry. A little back story... When my husband and I were first engaged, a jewelry designer friend designed the perfect ring for me but it never ended up getting made. On our first visit to The Diamond Center, there was a very similar ring in the vintage section. Since I immediately fell in love and the pricing was very reasonable, we purchased it. After a few weeks of wearing it, my husband and I decided that it really needed to have a slightly larger cushion cut center stone instead of the smaller round one it came with. The Diamond Center spent three weeks looking for the perfect stone to fit the ring and another two weeks making the necessary upgrade. They did such a beautiful job. The ring now has the stone it was always meant to have. I'm thrilled with how well it turned out. Our experience with the owners and staff members has been excellent every single time. What snots they are in this store! I went in to get my vintage engagement ring fixed up (the day after I got it). The extremely fake blond Reaganite behind the counter was sooooo condescending, asking me questions about its provenance and workmanship in a tone of voice clearly designed to plant doubt in my mind. They told me fixing it would take $100 and I'd have to give it up for a week. They told me it was worth it because their jeweler is German, and "you know how Germans are about workmanship!" (Whew -- ethnic stereotypes are so reassuring!) When I said I'd have to think about it, she warned me in a fake-caring voice, "Well, I'd be very careful about moving your hands around while you're wearing it, you don't know what could happen at any time!" I decided to get the work done in Pasadena instead. They did it while I waited (not a week). No attitude, MUCH cheaper, and It's gorgeous and perfect. Oh, and I wore the ring all week and nothing bad happened at all. Take that, fake blond lady! read more

Pros: free cleaning for all jewelry for Claremont students. Usually it's done within 10 minutes or so. We even got a diamond ring that we bought somewhere else cleaned there for free. Cons: they are first and foremost salespeople. They wanted to "refurbish" the ring for $65 and hold it overnight. When asked, they didn't even describe what that entails - they just pointed out soap residue (which can be fixed with just a cleaning). Didn't even seem very knowledgeable about the diamonds they carry - just kept reusing the cliche line about how "Hearts on Fire" diamonds are the best because they're the best. read more

I am very disappointed. Over 15 years ago I bought many pieces of expensive jewelry from The Diamond Center. I have given them a significant amount of business in the past. Including an over priced hearts on fire that costed 10K and worth $2K (barely). I recently had to sell some of the pieces, one is a gold bracelet with pearls. Turns out the pearls were fake. This broke my heart to find out the piece I paid good money for was basically worthless. I'm sure many consumers don't know they've been ripped off until they need to sell them or get it appraise for insurance purposes. I suggest everyone get a second opinion and find out the truth. It's a shame just because someone is at a location for a long time does not mean they have your best interest or honest. read more

The Diamond Center staff really took care of me. My fiance actually proposed to me in the store after working with Fonda and the owner Debbie for the last couple months. They got my ring custom made to exactly what I wanted, which was a rare pear cut vintage style ring with a halo and migraine design. They designed everything perfectly and really paid attention to every detail. The quality of the diamonds are amazing and still blind me when I look at them! Fonda was a great actress because I thought we were just going to try on rings, which I did try on several, and then she busted out my ring and my fiance proposed right there in the store. All my friends showed up too and accommodated all of them even during regular business hours. The Diamond Center really helped with my proposal and made it an extemely special and unforgettable day! Debbie and her husband run this place like clockwork, are very professional and very honest. I took 3 vintage rings that were given to me by my grandfather. The rings belonged to his wife, my grandmother. When I picked up the rings, they were perfect! Debbie really knew I had an emotional attachment to these rings regardless of metal quality and she took care of them like they were her own. Her husband is the jeweler and he did amazing work! There is another girl that works there (Ginger) that helps with the phones and other things, but she does not really have it together. I received 3 phone calls from her and each story was different. I was one of those clients who had a crappy setting ( from another jeweler) and yes, my diamond did indeed, FALL OUT of it's setting. Thankfully I found the diamond, and on a tip, went to see Debbie for HELP! She and her husband designed the most GORGEOUS platinum solitaire setting for my cushion diamond ring. I have received compliments on that setting almost every time I wear it, and am so proud that it is a one of a kind design, designed special for me. Debbie and Ray are true professional jewelers. Being a part of the LGBTQ+ community, when it came time to choose wedding bands, I remembered what store displayed the rainbow flag decades ago. I spoke with Ray, an owner, and he suggested that I have something custom made to my specifications (gold content, thickness). After making my selection, I asked him what prompted him to display a rainbow flag long before marriage equality was realized. He replied that he attended school in Berkeley and learned long ago when he was young that love is love.
