We contacted her letting her know we were on our way (2 hour drive) and caught in a Bison Jam in Yellowstone, she cancelled our ride despite telling me she could turn our tickets around easily to another family but refused to assist us in any way. Visited the ranch today, met the new owners and they're amazing. So much care and attention into their horses. They do three trips a day and have over 90 horses. I booked an outing months prior and cancelled very soon after via email as the website said er could. I heard nothing further from the company until the day of where they sent me an email stating that we missed the appointment and were being charged the full amount. When I called the owner informed me she had not received any cancellation requests and had sent multiple confirmation emails which I never received. Long story short, I cancelled and they still charged me. Future customers beware. read more

We had a reservation for a week for 6. We confirmed before we lost service to camping inside Yellowstone National Park. When we arrived they watched us put on our boots and apply sunscreen before approaching our group. As we approached, another pair was advised to go behind the barn to their awaiting horses. The young gal approached us by name and apologized for our cancelled reservation with "not enough horses". Feeling quite disappointed I feel the apology and promise to refund our deposit were not met with a solution for their error. I thought the business ethic was poor having watched us build excitement in the parking area for about 10 minutes before approaching (and not having a solution). I had to ask for a solution, another local trail ride and hope we could get in within our 2-hour time frame in West Yellowstone. Luckily we found a true "trail ride" versus the fire road ride The Diamond P Ranch gave us 10 years ago. It all worked out for us and LOVED our trail ride that day with another group but I would never hope that disappointment on anyone traveling through West Yellowstone to fulfill one goal of a trail ride. Business ethics include not just 2 emails but constant contact until connections and solutions to their error have been met. As we were leaving our trail ride we saw what would have been "our group" travel across the highway with a full team of horses. Although the young girl at Diamond P Ranch was empathic, I was disappointed in their business July 2025. read more

We loved this! When you arrive they have you sign in and then match you with a group and horse. They do a briefing and go over the basic commands and things to know. The trail is across the road- up into the Targhee National Forest. I was so impressed with the trail and how the horses navigated it. The trails were super challenging and the horses handled them with ease. We stopped a few times to look at wildlife, take pictures, and chat. Our guide was great- very knowledgeable and friendly. The trial was long! You definitely get your money's worth. The views are beautiful. It is very peaceful. For those worried about COVID- everyone is spaced out. They only allow one person from your group into the office to check in and keep everyone else outside. read more

booked a reservation 30 days prior to our schedule ride. when we got there we were told there was recently a change of ownership and reservation systems and our family of 4 and 3 other groups weren't getting out 1:30 2 hour ride. the person who tried to explain the issue didn't seem to care most of us planned this for months and drove hours to get there. the story they gave really didn't make any sense. they also said they set aside extra horses to accommodate this issue but none of the families who were effected got to ride at 1:30. they wanted us to come back 2 days later. that was bad enough but we would have to pay again and hope to get the money back for the prior owner. again not really showing too much empath. i wouldnt go back if the ride was free.... read more

Our family of 3 had a great experience on our private 2 hour ride hosted by Alana. She lead us through the trails in the Gallatin national park hills and was very knowledgeable about the trails and even stopped to show us a huckleberry bush and let us sample a berry. One of the horses quickly grabbed a bite too. Alana was great and also a thumbs up to Julie who gave a quick ride lesson before we mounted up. The receptionist was super friendly who checked us in/out. We were very pleased to hear Alana said the owner genuinely loves his horses and treats all the animals and staff very well. We especially loved the dog who was checking everyone in and helped the ranch hand put a stop in both directions of highway traffic so we could ride to the other side of the highway. Yippee ki Yea, what fun. We're California city slicker who live at the beach. We've ridden a little on the sand in the surf but are only slightly more advanced than novices. These folks have every detail worked out to keep all level of rider safe. We could easily get on and off the horses without assistance. Throwing that leg up and over the horn is part of the fun HOWEVER, you must accept assistance here for insurance reasons so HUSH UP, DO IT because the 3 hour ride through the glory of Montana is worth such a little thing. We signed a waiver to skip a helmet. Note, the helmets are disguised as cowboy hats and don't look silly at all. Those who chose helmets looked just as cool as everyone else. I'm long and lanky and admittedly not the leader on a horse. They matched me with long, lanky follower horse, Bailey. A perfect match. I'm not a good rider but Bailey was a good horse who made me feel pretty Annie Oakley cowgirl in up. The ranch took photos out on the ride. A lot of them. The whole bunch of your party was $30.00 on a flash drive. We didn't buy only because we'd been snapping away, which is allowed. I borrowed a little saddle bag for my light jacket, keys, and bottle of water. Leave everything else locked in your car. Friendly, fun, gorgeous, safe, professional (Hannah stopped twice to check our saddles) and groups were small. Smiles on every face. Price? Less than 1/2 what we pay in California. Loved. We have never been on a horseback ride like this! We couldn't believe that we got to go into the Gallatin National Forest for HOURS. It was beautiful and the trail was hilly and winding, which you don't often get with tourist-type horseback rides. We not only had fun riding, we got to just relax and enjoy being quiet in the woods together. Our guide was lovely and helpful, as were the staff at the stables and in the office and barn (photographer). We had my 8 and 9 year old niece and nephew with us, and the staff put them at ease and matched them (and us!) with great horses. Shout out to Virgil, who was a total pro even though it was only his third day, and to Charcoal and Pedro for making the kids' first horse ride such a joy for them. Staff gave a thorough group demo and also individual instructions once the kiddos were in the saddle. We could tell that their safety was paramount to the staff and it put all of us at ease. Hot tips: Bug spray, long sleeves, jeans (not leggings), a bandanna or scarf (dusty!), hat and sunglasses, water bottle, and cash to tip your guide. They are independent contractors and mostly college students trying to make money for school. Tip them! Professional photographs are included, but if you want to have prints/digital downloads, you must purchase the USB for a fee. It was $52 for our family of four (pricing based on group size). Our guide stopped midway and took pictures on our phones for us with the mountains in the background, too, so you can definitely still get a photo even without the professional shots. Our professional shots were GREAT though, so we purchased the USB. For 3 hours, the price was so reasonable and well worth it. Highly recommend! read more

My husband and I booked a 3 hour trail ride while on our visit to Montana. We were so happy with the staff at this stable, as they were so nice. Buddy their golden retriever greeted us as we got out of our jeep and what a sweetie he was. Our guide Ethan was great and our horses were perfect. It was so quiet and peaceful trail riding through the forest. Virgil, (my horse) I miss you already! My husbands horse was Moose, what a sweetheart he was. I am so happy we decided to choose the Diamond P Ranch to explore the Gallatin Forest on horseback! We were beginner riders and were placed with horses that were sure footed and gentle. Kiddos had an unforgettable time. Professional photographers were present and offered a Zip drive of photos (for a fee) that will be our Christmas card photo! After spending two days in Yellowstone National Park I surprised my husband for his birthday with a 3 hr horseback ride. Lindsay was our guide and she was very professional and explained everything about the Gallatin forest and our horses. I rode red deer and my husband rode Harriet it was a lot of fun and I highly recommend this to do horseback riding in the Gallatin this was my first time ever on a horse and I felt very comfortable and safe. We visited this ranch during our summer vacation in August 2017 after a recommendation from a friend who spent her entire childhood summers riding there. We were looking for scenic guided trail rides during our visit to Yellowstone and stumbled upon this place in a Google search; and we're glad we did. The reservation process is very simple and quick. We booked a 2 hour evening ride and from the moment we arrived at the ranch, we were treated with the utmost respect and met by a friendly and efficient staff. They did a really good job matching us with the horses-- they were all very gentle and easygoing and generally lovely to ride (I felt like I bonded with mine). The trail they have access to goes up through the hills and is absolutely stunning around sunset. Although the ride is slow, the staff does a good job of making it fun- our guide Casia was a dear and really funny! The guides are well trained and take really good care of the group; I never once felt threatened or in danger. The guides are also very good at taking pictures! I gave them my iPhone and they took some gorgeous shots of my group on the horses. We were worried that it was going to rain during our ride, but it didn't. Perfect for a horseback riding experience near Yellowstone, the wranglers are nice. The 2 hours felt more like 1 (very bittersweet). Keep in mind that the horse you'll ride on have been doing these trail rides its entire life, so much of the time it will be butt-to-face close to the horse in front of it. Booked a three hour trail ride for a group of 11 with ages ranging from 6 to 70. It was truly fantastic! All the horses were so gentle and friendly and took care of their inexperienced riders very well. Our guides (Lindsey and Cade) were AMAZING! They knew so much about the local flora/fauna and were happy to answer questions and share their knowledge so it was a great learning experience, too. And they were both just so good about working with the 6yo who was quite anxious/scared at the start of the ride, but happy as a clam and relaxed by the end, all because of the two guides who worked so hard to make her comfortable. The rides were very well done and organized so that no two groups would run into each other. All the horses seemed well cared for and quite loved by all the staff. Every guide/owner we talked to at the ranch was friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. Well worth the cost and time!
