Three full biscuits, sausage gravy, hash browns, and eggs.

Normally I am never in this area so I searched Yelp to see what would come up and this place did. Thankfully I listened as it was incredibly good but I probably should have listened when the waitress asked me if I wanted a half order instead of a full order for breakfast. The food was so good I almost licked the plate. Their coffee is also very good. From the outside it just looks like another building you would probably drive past but the inside is clean and fresh. I also noticed a lot of the local businesses have employees stopping in for food. I'm too full but I am happy.

    Menu, as of 6/21.

Big fan of The Diner....I have going there for years. They have daily specials, breakfast all day, burgers, and other options (chicken Philly, one of my favorites). Check their hours, as I just ate there , and they closed @1 p.m..

The burger is your basic smash burger. Unfortunately (or perhaps true to form as I'm not that experienced with and burgers) parts of the burger were separated from the main part. Too much smashing? They advertise best fries in st Louis. The order I received made me question this highly as if was clear they had wilted from being under the heat lamps way to long. I sent them back and the replacement was much better. They have a light spiced salt blend that I like. I asked for a couple of the sauces in the side to try with them, only one was provided ( without explanation) so I can't speak as to which one I received. Fortunately there was a bottle of ketchup on the table. Sadly it was completely empty. I get the impression the company isn't really paying attention to detail here. That will probably be there downfall. Inside is pretty basic. The floors are clean-ish. Tables seem to be showing a lot of signs of wear.. They advertised several creations for their burgers. None of them impressed me enough to want to try one of those. All in all, not an awful experience. The highlight was the staff was very helpful and tried to accommodate. If you want a smashburger and you're in the area, I think it'd be worth a try. I wouldn't drive out of your way to come here though.

We were seated first, yet tables seated after us were greeted and served coffee before we were even acknowledged. Our waitress, Rachel, only came over after we had been sitting for quite some time and I began looking around to get someone's attention. When she finally approached, I politely mentioned that other guests seated after us already had coffee and said it was unfortunate. Instead of responding professionally or apologetically, she took an attitude toward it, which made the interaction uncomfortable. The situation could and should have been handled much better with simple acknowledgment and courtesy. After that exchange, she walked over to another waiter to complain about or discuss the situation, but stopped when she noticed I was watching. Our total bill was $92, and although I thought about tipping 2¢, I still tipped $9 (10%) because we did manage to have a good time and the food itself was good. That said, had the service been more professional, she would have easily received a minimum $30 tip. As we were walking out, someone walking in asked if the food was good, and I told them yes and even recommended the deluxe biscuits and gravy. The food is delicious. Can't lie about that. However, as a paying customer, I don't and won't tolerate dismissive or rude service. Great food, but the service needs improvement. Nadine is also an arrogant woman whose cheap box color hair dye is obviously getting to her head. People of color please spend your money elsewhere!

We love the seasoning and skin on the fried chicken, it's perfect!!! The chicken is cooked well, tender and moist but yet still fried hard which we love to ensure the chicken is done. A huge disappointment was the beef ribs and rice pilaf, both lacking seasoning and substantial flavor. Yes, the beef ribs are fall of the bone but they are tasteless and over-priced for the quality. The corn bread is good. Another disappointing dish is the smothered pork chops. The porkchops do not stand up to the massive amount of gravy they are sitting in. It renders the porkchop lifeless and soggy and the gravy isn't seasoned to add insult to injury. The turn over is good, so it ensures the food is coming out hot-n-fresh, the staff do a good job at keeping the trays filled. It's worth a try to check out soul food in the STL

Advertisements online talked about "rolling out the red carpet" for mom, including receiving a glass of champagne, a hand-selected personal gift from the team, and a special Art Deco Goddess coloring sheet for the kids. However, our Mother's Day experience was not special at all. I went with my husband, 2 young kids, and my mother. When the waitress greeted us, she wasn't very friendly and didn't even say Happy Mother's Day when there was 2 mothers at the table. She didn't mention anything about the free champagne...we had to ask for it. We did not receive a hand-selected personal gift. There was also no special coloring sheet for the kids - we were just coloring on the kids menu. Nothing about our experience was special. Next year, I will pick somewhere else to go for Mother's Day. I felt more like a burden here than someone to be celebrated. The food was still decent. I got the pesto chicken sandwich with the bird seed salad. The bird seed salad was the star. Loved the poppyseed vinaigrette dressing and the bruleed apple slice (never seen that before - how unique and cool!). The pesto sandwich was a bit difficult to eat - while the chicken was moist, the bread was very crusty and dry which made the overall sandwich very dry. It was kinda hard to get through. I ended up taking it home and reheating it in the microwave and it was a little better after doing that because it allowed the pesto to soak into the bread and moisten it up a bit. I ordered a scoop of Zanzibar chocolate ice cream with hot fudge and this was truly amazing. The kids menu could definitely use some work - seems more like an after thought. It isn't even posted online to view in advance. I can't remember all the choices, but it was limited. I remember 2 different peanut butter sandwiches available, Mac and cheese, and a "pizza" on focaccia type bread. I put pizza in quotes because most kids I know are picky and this isn't a traditional pizza so we couldn't order this because our kids probably wouldnt eat it especially if the bread on the pizza was as dry and crusty as it was on my pesto sandwich. We ended up ordering the Mac and cheese, which was actually really good and the kids liked it. Just wish there were more options. What was really disappointing though is they served apple slices on the plate with the core still in it...serving apple core to a child is a safety hazard and just plain lazy.

Boooooooo! Lol. I'm not a huge fan of restaurants that serve a la carte. But whatevs. I started with the Charleston drink. It was good and strong; came out in a fancy box w a lil smoke. It was semi dramatic, lol. We decided to order the collards and spinach artichoke dip to start with. It was good. It gave spinach and artichoke dip for the most part. The seasoned saltine crackers that accompanied that were not my favorite, but not the worst, & we had to ask for more to finish the dip (we were unexpectedly charged for them -_____-). I wish it was pita bread or pita chips instead, but I guess the crackers are Lucy's special touch. We finally decide on food; she got the catfish po boy, I got the brisket sandwich. She said her sandwich was FIRE but I didn't try it so I can't speak to that unfortunately. My brisket sandwich was ok; it had queso on it and it was kinda cold which was wack. The sandwich was a decent size for sure, I just could have went for a different bread personally. The ciabatta bread overpowered the actual meat. I asked for bbq sauce to dip and eat pieces of the brisket. I want to come back and try the Brussels and catfish po boy myself.
