Looking for a quick lunch and thought I would give this place a try. Perhaps if they didn't have as many accolades on the windows I might not have had as high an expectation. The burger is your basic smash burger. Unfortunately (or perhaps true to form as I'm not that experienced with and burgers) parts of the burger were separated from the main part. Too much smashing? They advertise best fries in st Louis. The order I received made me question this highly as if was clear they had wilted from being under the heat lamps way to long. I sent them back and the replacement was much better. They have a light spiced salt blend that I like. I asked for a couple of the sauces in the side to try with them, only one was provided ( without explanation) so I can't speak as to which one I received. Fortunately there was a bottle of ketchup on the table. Sadly it was completely empty. I get the impression the company isn't really paying attention to detail here. That will probably be there downfall. Inside is pretty basic. The floors are clean-ish. Tables seem to be showing a lot of signs of wear.. They advertised several creations for their burgers. Not great. The menu/ordering process was confusing. I order the taco burger in a lettuce wrap which was a good idea in theory but not in practice. The Doritos and Fritos were inside the meat rendering them without any flavor or crunch. The burger did have a taco flavor. The lettuce was more of a bed than a wrap. Ordered a cheeseburger and Mac n cheese to go. It took 24 minutes for my order, even after telling them multiple times what I ordered. Their response was I am sorry but at least you got a fresh one. The food was good, but the service was a struggle. I arrived 30 minutes before they closed, and by the time I was at the register, it was 7:50pm. The cashier explained that they couldn't make shakes and they were out of some other thing, which I understand. I ordered a burger and fries to go. Came here tonight for dinner after someone recommended it last night who was hanging out outside of there. I figured since I was staying a block over might as well! We got the cowboy burger (not pictured) and the taco grilled cheese along with the sweet potato tots. The restaurant was really clean and so was the drink station. We were helped by Kali who was really friendly and sweet. The food didn't take too long to come out, but long enough to make you know it's probably cooked to order. They're a worthwhile stop with a bit of a contemporary vibe at off-peak times... at peak times, well, it's long lines, long waits, and service struggles. When I saw the Yelp review in the window proclaiming "worst restaurant ever" I had to check it out. Unfortunately, that review must have been removed (yes, I did look for it), but I'm here to replace it with a new one. I would highly disagree with the review in the window-I had a rather pleasant experience. The make-your-own burger appealed to both me and my wife, so we could order just what we wanted. The fries were barely over room temperature and soft. The one apparent line to order seemed like it fed two different "ordering screens" so I get to the front of the line, and there's people creating a second line in front of the second screen. If you're gonna save a few bucks by having people order off a screen, at least have the courtesy to avoid a mutiny and draw two yellow lines that either start from the same line, or are fed by two different lines. Hi-Point drive in is definitely the place to go for a fun, trendy, and delicious dinner. SERVICE: We visited Hi-Pointe during a very busy conference during New Years. They were slammed with customers, which of course increased the wait time. I will not speak on timeliness or efficiency because I did not receive a typical customer wait time. FOOD: The cheeseburger I ordered was absolutely delicious. No complaints about it, at all. I got the single patty with cheese, add lettuce tomato pickle and onion, mustard and Mayo. It was so dang good!!! I also ordered a side of fries and ranch. Honestly, for the size of their fries specifically, I felt it was overpriced. Either I was starving or the burger was big, because I came so close to not being able to finish everything. It was the perfect amount of food for me. Went before the Battlehawks game...there were like 30 total people inside and 0 people in line and they were telling everyone that walked in it was an hour wait because they were slammed. Huh? While I was standing there I watched them turn away roughly 100 people by telling them that and if I was the manager or the owner and saw that happen...oof. At 6:15 I asked about my order and was told it was "probably coming out soon" and that they would "probably call my name when it was done".
