We recently moved into the Oakdale area and were looking for a diner to have breakfast at on the weekend. The Diner is right down the hill from us and it is everything we were looking for! The staff was so nice and friendly to us and were so quick with everything. The Diner has the old school diner vibe, which I loved. Had not been here for quite a while but decided to give it a try since I heard they are new owners. Was pleasantly surprised to see Leslie back again! We had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes-delicious as ever! We started with the cauliflower appetizer and WOW so good and you get plenty with a nice amount of ranch to dip. They were DELICIOUS! Our daughter and her fiancé had the steak salads and they were BIG and DELICIOUS as well! The owner was very friendly and this was a great experience once again. Surprised how delicious the prime rib was, with a tasty beefy jus for dipping. We asked and they had fresh grated horseradish. With scratch made mashed potatoes and gravy and we ordered green beans side. Perfect to split with my guy, so we had enough room to start with the creamy potato soup and finish with a hot tart and sweet cherry pie slice with cold ice cream on top. I ordered breakfast or I should say I wanted breakfast but it was over. Luckily the breakfast chef agreed to make one more meal and my belly was very satisfied with the Whomping Hungry man. I've truly rarely ever had such great service as we did at The Diner. Thank you, thank you!! The options are wide on the menu, too, whether you want breakfast or lunch! And the food was scrumptious and portions pretty large. However, this building is in serious need of both cleaning and repair. I got the spinach salad, the Sicilian pizza and the chicken parm. The spinach salad was delicious. The chicken was really flavorful...I could've eaten it on its own...and they put gorgeous thick cut bacon on it and an entire boiled egg. If you don't like onions maybe ask them to hold them. The pizza was pretty damn good. The crispy bottom and fluffy dough was excellent. It could've used more sauce but that's just my preference. I like it saucy. I'm saving the chicken parm for tomorrow. They use quality ingredients, which is a plus but I'll go back because they were so nice!! I ordered through Grub Hub and the restaurant called me as soon as they got their order because they were out of something and suggested an alternative. After biking along the Panhandle Trail, this is the perfect place to stop for breakfast. My boyfriend and I have been here twice now and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts. He got the Italian scramble both times with a side of marinara sauce. The first time I got the breakfast sandwich and the second time I got the veggie omelet + add bacon. The omelet was better than the sandwich so I would go for that if you are deciding between the two. I look forward to continuing trying new things there. The servers work hard and the place is usually busy but we haven't had to wait in line yet to be seated. The desserts and ice cream flavors are also enticing but I have yet to try. this relatively true diner is an informal and inexpensive place and has a combination of booths and a long sit down counter with basic good ambiance. The wait staff is friendly and welcoming with good service. The homemade sauce pizza(pepperoni, green pepper&mushroom) is fantastic! The fried fish looked huge and appetizing, although the burger was a lot smaller than advertised and the salads are made of iceberg lettuce. Most dishes are homemade, but others are not. A recent delivery order: Delivery time was very good. I had 2 over easy eggs that were cooked perfectly as was the bacon. The home fries could improve with some onions and peppers, but were good. The sausage gravy and biscuits need improved. The biscuits were in the same packaging as the gravy which resulted in soggy biscuits. Also, for what I paid (I ordered a large), I expected a lot more gravy! read more

Just your typical diner in a small town. They have very quick service which I love but the quality of food wasn't anything special. They do have a pretty big menu and I do like how they serve breakfast pretty late in the day. The portions are big too. Almost everyone in the restaurant was taking home a to-go box. It's definitely a good place to go if you're looking for greasy food for cheap but I wouldn't suggest coming here for a nice date or anything. read more

Horrible service. Never did get what we ordered. Our order was wrong from the start and missing items. Owner just sat and watched the place implode. A classic diner experience. Wanted to try a different spot today. Had the meat lovers omelette and it was packed with ham, bacon, and sausage. It was delicious!! Couldn't finish it all. They serve Mancini's bread which is a plus. They also have great looking pies and donuts in their case. Our waitress was a little rough but in a diner type of way; she made me chuckle. She had no problem giving the cook a hard time when something was missing. Lol. The owner came around to each booth to see how everything was. Thought that was nice. They have an open kitchen too. My family went to the Oakdale diner this past Friday and I was very disappointed. They were out of lettuce for side salads (they were "saving" lettuce for the "big" salads) steak for salads and sandwiches, and tartar sauce for the fish sandwich. They food we did order was definitely not was it used to be. The worst part of the meal was by far the dessert. The cherry pie had MOLD on the inside!! We discovered the MOLD after my daughter took a bite. . The manager took the pie off of our bill, but demanded that we pay the rest. Will NEVER go back. read more

The food is never right. The only good thing about this place is the waitress Sarah who always goes above and beyond and gets no help from the other staff. She is treated poorly by management. This includes the owner Miriam when Sarah is not working they're all there helping out refilling coffee, clearing tables etc. when Sarah is working she gets absolutely no help whatsoever. this is extremely sad to witness to see somebody who works so hard being treated so poorly. hopefully the owners will see this and adjust their attitude towards her. Sarah is loved by many. read more

Went here for lunch with my husband. I kept it basic and ordered a grilled cheese and fries. My husband got a meatball sandwich. The grilled cheese was fine, but nothing spectacular. I will say the menu options looked better for breakfast and dinner. The food I saw going to other tables also looked good. I will definitely come back and try something different. The service was great. Our server was friendly, personable, and attentive. The inside of the restaurant looks pretty run down, but seemed clean. Not surprising for a diner. read more

This place is okay, nothing more. It benefits from not having too much else nearby in Oakdale. It has your typical diner atmosphere, a little dated and dingy. The staff was friendly but the food seemed to take awhile to arrive. The sandwich I had was okay though I didn't like the turkey they used. I have been here before for breakfast, I think they do a better job with that. read more

We just visited the Oakdale Diner. I guess considering it had the word "diner" in its title I had higher expectations for our visit, especially considering it was for breakfast. I had the big breakfast with four sausage links, three eggs, frozen potatoes, and toast. My wife had french toast and bacon. The kids had Mickey chocolate chip pancakes. Overall I would compare the food to slightly above Kings Restaurant. In the breakfast hierarchy, Eat N Park is the worst, then Denny's, Kings, and then you venture to Bob Evans, with Cracker Barrel leading the chains. It wasn't a bad breakfast, I was just expecting more, because of the diner in the title. I wanted homemade potatoes, not frozen. In addition, I felt the meals were 1.00 or so a bit overpriced. Service was fantastic! I would eat here again, but need to hit Pamela's first! read more

I visited The Diner today for lunch. I got a half meatball hoagie, with a side of french fries. The meatballs were very tasty, the bread was fresh. The french fries were fried perfectly, but they lacked seasoning. With a side of ranch, I enjoyed them a lot. Our server was very friendly, and we enjoyed our conversations with her. Looking for a local breakfast place, we logged on yelp and ok chance on The Dinner. We were so surprised. The inside is very clean and looks like a 1960's diner! So far, love love love! The service was great! Everybody friendly and cheerful. All questions answered and refills on soda and coffee plenty and quick. The food is great! We have had breakfast and lunch there. Both times, taking home a pastry for later. I would recommend this place to friends and will bring guests there for sure. A great experience! Bravo! read more

Went to this diner after my bike ride and I have to say I was splendidly surprised. My boyfriend and I shared a basket of boneless wings and I ordered the bacon burger. The bacon was supposed to be a dollar more but I got it for free! The burger was a bit dry but still a very good meal. This is the second time for me. I stumbled onto this lil diner a few weeks ago and stopped in just to give it a try. I got the double cheese burger with bacon. Very good as far as diner food goes. The wait staff was fast & friendly. tonight I ordered the Italian hoagie. Excellent. I would recommend supporting this small hometown diner on your next visit to Oakdale PA. Since it was a weeknight, I did not want to drive in rush hour traffic so we thought this would be the perfect time to try this place. We got a lot of food. We started with their Bacon Cheese Fries (would have been better fresh so that the cheese wasn't hardened over the fries) and Mozzarella Wedges. My fiance loved the Mozzarella Wedges - reminded me of the ones at Primanti's. My son, of course, wanted a simple pizza so we ordered the Traditional Pizza with Pepperoni. He really liked it - it has a garlic butter crust which took it up a notch, in my opinion. I decided to try two speciality pies: Margherita and Aroma Mia. They were both good - if you're looking for something different, the Aroma Mia is great! The Margherita was good too but the fresh mozzarella cooled down/hardened enough on our 15 minute drive home that it didn't come off in bites. (Not saying this in a negative way - still tasted great but would have been better to each fresh out of the oven. The only item that wasn't up to par was my fiance's Steak Hoagie. He got double meat and isn't a picky eater but felt for the price, it wasn't worth it. He said the steak reminded him of gyro meat texturally which weirded him out. He still ate it but said that if we went back here, he would just order pizza. The downside? It's only takeout and delivery. There's a small table in there to wait for your food but that's it. If there's one thing I'd change, it would be that. I think when you make specialty pizza, it's so much better to eat fresh vs. placing it into a box to have sit in your car until you arrive home. To wrap the experience up, I'm glad I went. Was it pricy? Yes. But did we get a ton of food? Yes. 2 appetizers, 3 small pizzas and a steak hoagie ended up being about $100. For a small town, it's a lot. However, I would go back again and just order less food. If you're ever near the airport/Robinson and want a good pizza on the go, I'd recommend trying it out. Hopefully one day they can grow and find a way to add some tables. I think this place can be a hit!

Recently moved into Oakdale and thought we'd try the Diner. We checked the online menu which had a nice variety of items. They offered daily specials and this being Saturday the special was Prime Rib priced at $17.99 for the Queen Cut and $19.99 for the King Cut. We both ordered the Kings with onion rings and salad. The salads were OK, then came the entrees. The onion rings were burnt, almost black and as for prime ribs the king must be midgets! OK, live and learn we shouldn't order fine dining at a diner. Then came the check WOW !!!!!!! The dinners were $25.99 each not 19.99. The chalkboard listed the specials without prices so we assumed the online prices were correct. The waitress said "Sorry for the mix-up but it's $25.99" Needless to say we won't be back and certainly will not recommend to any of our friends. read more

Where to start I called a bit after 8 placed a fairly simple order small fries provolone sticks and 2 two liters of Pepsi was told no problem and was told it would be there in half an hour. I start to watch kitchen nightmares like 2 episodes later my food still isn't there I get confused and give them a call well no one picked up because they actually closed for the night. Luckily I was going to pay cash so I didn't get charged but needless to say I will be taking my business elsewhere which, is sad because they are normally a solid staple of Oakdale food. read more

Took my family for the first time on 9/26 and food was great. Reuben was the best I've ever had. My kids enjoyed the grilled chicken salad and chicken club sandwich. Prices were reasonable and the waitress was very friendly and helpful. Great dessert selection too! read more
