Been meaning to check out Dirty Duck since moving pretty close to it. We decided to stop by on Halloween and there was a small line outside. It went by quickly. That was expected because of the holiday. Another line for drinks inside, but also went by quickly. We snagged a booth and stayed a while. We had a decent time and I'm glad we made the stop. Would visit again, but not needing to. Would love yo see the vibe on a non-Holiday night. Very divey but also spacious. There's also a small smoking area/patio. read more

They have a food truck outside and snacks and a little bit of bar food inside. This is a place to play pool, watch a game, and people watch. It's fun! I've driven by The Dirty Duck probably hundreds of times but never though of stepping in until we were talking about it at a different bar and someone yelled "you have to get a duck!" We were intrigued and decided to go check it out. Let's just say our bar hopping stopped and we finished the night there! It's alright. Dive bar, decent amount of parking and a few pool tables. Bartenders are hit or miss, some are friendly and some ignore you unless you're a regular of theirs! Not much cheaper than a nice bar, but maybe $3 less for a normal double. read more

The wife and I walked in and up to the bar, the bartender said a surprised hello, it had been a few months since he'd seen us. "Double tall whisky sodas?" he asks, confirming our usual drink. We squinted and pulled our mouths into tight smiles, "No," we said, "just singles. We want to take it easy and just give our dog another hour before we pick him up from daycare down the street." He takes two pint glasses from the stack, fills them with ice, grabs a bottle of our usual whisky, and as he pours he looks us straight in the eyes never breaking eye contact. "Oh no....I accidentally poured doubles..." he said as he made us our usual drink and we broke out in laughter. And don't worry, he did not over-serve, and didn't do anything we were not perfectly fine with - that's just how this place is. You're a friend at the Duck. Their love language is being a little sh*t, sometimes, and aren't we all like that from time to time? The staff is always welcoming and friendly - no matter who it is. Everyone's funny and friendly and treats you like they've known you forever. It's got a super diverse crowd - you'll find old guys who started drinking at noon, random bikers, and corporate happy hours. It's a wonderful melange of humanity. The food truck that's out front half the time is a cornucopia of fried delights, and they've got a claw machine filled with - you guess it - rubber ducks. We're suckers for dive bars, and The Dirty Duck delivers in every way. So the next time you might be passing by, do what my wife and I do, turn your head, find a wry smile, and ask "Do you wanna Duck it?" and then answer yes. Ebbs and flows. Loved this place for awhile. We definitely called this our spot, even took our wedding party there the night before getting married. Pool is fun, and the people who come to play are nice and willing to share the table. Eddie is by far the best bartender (he is an AWESOME dude). If you ever come in and get Garrett as your bartender.. well, don't expect any quality of service lol. Horrible hospitality from Garrett. But if he isn't working you'll receive good service. They don't have an ATM to get cash for pool. And don't dare ask for change.. Garrett will be sure to let you know they won't help by blatantly ignoring your request and moving to the next person in line. Overall, use to love this place.. but Doctor Proctors down the street is a great option when Garrett is working! read more

The Dirty Duck is a Denver landmark. For regulars, its a second home. For those visiting, one might describe it as a hole in the wall/I-25 runaway escape ramp for rush hour - a rubber duck cemetery - no judgement zone liquid therapy retreat - or just say it's a bar with friendly staff and patrons who know what they like and happy to recommend any drink you might be craving. I've been to the Dirty Duck more times than I probably remember (haha) but do always remember it was a good time otherwise I wouldn't go back. For a dive bar, the drinks aren't the cheapest compared to similar bars, but the staff and experience is worth the extra money during your visit. My only complaint is if you are a night owl and expect to stay and close the bar down, well you will but it will be an hour before Colorado bar operating hours. Essentially last call is right around 12:45 am and they start clearing everyone out around 1 instead of 2 am. If you are bar hopping and stop in after midnight, prepare to drink fast and don't let that Uber escape too quick because you will be in and out faster than you expected. Pro Tip - The pickle shots are yummy! Tastes like a ballpark style jumbo pickle (minus the actual pickle mess) which will leave you looking around for the closest big screen to check the Rockies score. read more

I heard reas your response, I've been in the service industry since birth... you have time to clean up and close after your posted time of operation. As a bar you list your close at 2am then you post your last call at 1:45 I would understand if this place could seat or even have 100 people... but what is happening is your bartender wants to go home and is happy to turn away business as early as possible so he could get home. I feel bad for your business - we all know it's a dive bar, sad that you would rather turn away business than appease your clientele I'll NEVER put a foot in your bar after I got to the Dirty Duck at 1:15 standing around to be avoided by the bartender only to find out that you don't act like ANY other bar... your tiny and need the business, I'm sure you turning people away EARLY will not help you After looking like an idiot asking for a drink 5 min later after getting there at 1:15 with 6 people in the bar, yet some how Darin was too busy for 5 min... only to tell me he stopped serving at 1;10am Look your bartender is really old and weak he may just need to get to bed early, maybe you shouldn't schedule him on late nights... he probably can't stay awake? They serve drinks, and they don't charge a lot for them. You can get a burger (chips, no fries) or pizza. Neither will be fancy. But it will put food in your belly while you're enjoying inexpensive drinks. Sometimes, that's all you need in a bar. No servers hassling you to order more or order extra. You can sit and chat with friends, play pool, and have a beer. Be sure to tip accordingly. I ordered a Guinness, and the bartender let me know she would take her time and do it correctly. There is plenty of parking, though you might consider taking the very close by light rail since the drinks are cheap. Sometimes they have free food. read more

This is a great place to grab a drink with friends! The staff is amazing!! I reached out to them for a favor and they really came through for me. I had been there with a friend a couple years ago and had a great time. My friend is at Craig hospital recovering from a serious medical event and they hand delivered one of their sweatshirts to him to spark some good memories and aid in his recovery. I am eternally grateful for Liza and how she handled this situation. I can't say enough good stuff about this bar and hope anyone who sees this stops in for a drink and a laugh. read more

One visit, this is my new favorite Dive Bar in Denver. Reasonably priced drinks, not wall-to-wall people, good crowd of locals (pretty hipster free), they were playing good tunes (no Biggie, but NIN), ZERO attitude, just people who are serious about drinking. It's a bit out the way for me, but it's worth getting out of Cap Hill for something laidback. I call again and this employee from "the dirty duck bar" says "You haven't gotten phone calls from here". So later I got another call about 30 mins later from the same number. I called back because I found it weird the same number called twice, so I called back and heard in the back ground a man that saying "it's her again she's on the phone again" which I found confusing cause all I asked the first time I called is who is this calling my number? I dig this bar. We checked out this place one friday night. There are plenty of nice regulars. Everyone is friendly and chatty. The staff was helpful with some ideas for things we wanted to do while we were visiting. This place has hundreds & hundreds of ducks all over the place, which is how it gets the name. This is by far my favorite bar, dive or otherwise, in Denver. Drinks are unbelievably cheap but also always strong. The service is always friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is always fun. Once again, dive bars are amazing for so many reasons. In the world of dive bars, The Dirty Duck Bar is as good as it gets. People come to dive bars for various reasons. And, if you are a fan of dive bars, you have yours. I generally like the people. They are real people!! Right now (October), the place is decked out in Halloween decorations. The only thing better would be if they kept up all holiday decoration year round! The only place I have seen this at is the Comet Bar in Detroit. Bartender was great. Great pour of Jamesons and a great Guinness pour, which is rare these days for some ridiculous reason. Every so often you got served with a great joke, with great delivery.
