Bogus bait and switch fake pricing. They pull random numbers out of their ass when you call.

This place is garbage. I had a terrible interaction with "Allison" on the phone and couldn't believe the things she said to me and her discriminatory attitude. She told me she only had one unrenovated apartment that she rented to Section 8 people, and that was it. She also told me I would have to show her my bank accounts and there would be "other additional things I would need to do," that other "regular" applicants did not need to do. Let me tell you something Allison, that's completely illegal and it's a form of segregation, called steering. Did you know there is a term for your illegal practice? There is. That's what it's called when you group "certain" people together and offer different and lower quality, substandard places to different economic classes of people. Yeah they painted this place, etc. It looks nice at a glance but is still rotten. These mega complexes are all bad and about iron fisted tyranny anyway. Read the review from TT, pearls of wisdom. You are just a number, and they couldn't give a crap less about actual people. I'm too busy right now, but after I'm done moving, I definitely am reporting this place to the housing authority. You aren't getting away with this crap Allison. You do not treat people like this. They take their sweet ass time to do anything. So you can think about this until probably next year or so when they investigate you for these illegal practices. You probably will be all relaxed and even forgotten it by then. Perfect! In the back of the building is the trolley station, which is good for commuting, but terrible for safety. It just isn't safe at all or a desirable place to call home or bring your family to visit. Really consider ALL of the elements of this complex and ALL of the reviews before pulling the plug and moving in, if it isn't too late. Decide if you want to support a business that supports illegal housing practices and actual segregation. Best wishes fellow apartment hunters.

Enjoying a beautiful day by the pool! FAMILY TIME! Clean jacuzzi and pool! Crystal cleared water......Great job maintenance team!

I wanted to share a new positive experience I had with the office member, Lisa Bishops. My family and I went through a financial hardship during COVID-19, which was a very scary time in our lives. When I communicated my situation with Lisa (Accounting department), she was very understanding and went out of her way to guide me through the application process with the county. After going back and forth with the county's representatives, I was approved to received help based on the information given to the county and passing the screening process. Now, we were able to celebrate my daughter's 9th birthday at HOME! Moving here to The District has been one of the best decisions my fiancé and I have made. We can see our daughter grow full of happiness, and have found more stability having a place that she can call home and not sharing a room with cousins or family members. I want to make sure people know that there is a lot of good that we have received since we moved here. I do notice that things once in awhile fail or break (rarely), but not because of lack of maintenance (outstanding team), or negligence, but because of the normal use and wear of things. Sometimes, we are so quick to write a bad review when we are mad, or inconvenienced. There is a lot of good that we all get to experience while living here, but we tend to just enjoy it with our loved ones and don't take the time share it here. Thank you The District Apartments and Greystar! My family and I are extremely pleased and happy!

Cannot recommend this place LESS. The maintenance man came 16May2023 to inspect my ceiling that was leaking in my bathroom and left behind towels to collect the leak and he left my ceiling exposed because he told me before noon on 17May2023 (TODAY) he'd come by before he goes to the Padres game. It's now 1600 and I've called 3 times to verify when he'll be around to at least secure my ceiling if it's not going to be fixed today. Whichever woman was speaking to me on the phone today, Jasmine, told me there are other maintenance people so one of them will be over. Hours later she called me to inform me the maintenance man went on the roof and the A/C unit on the roof is surrounded by bees and the maintenance man is allergic and "he's not going to risk his life to fix it." Understandable, 100%, but she had mentioned earlier in the day there are several maintenance people, so they must all be allergic to bees. My ceiling is STILL exposed and that is unacceptable and I let her know but she doesn't care and she continued to talk over me while I'm explaining why this is not at all acceptable. I'd also consider doing some customer service training. The unit is HOT so now I have to spend extra money to get a fan when I already spend more money than this place is actually worth. The only thing luxurious of these "luxury apartments" are the tall ceilings, let's be serious. It's unprofessional the way the Jasmine spoke to me on the phone today, and the way they make empty promises. Save your money, your time and your energy. Luckily Jasmine is a temp because she is terrible. If you're looking for more cons apart from this one: -the mail room is a mess and packages get stolen/lost -elevators are down frequently -my call box has been down since before I moved in (Nov2022) and every week I call they say some 3rd party company is coming to fix it. Must be a 6 month trip. -tenants let their pets poop in the hallways and stairs and don't pick it up -the homeless people hang out in the parking garages, pooping, peeing and sleeping by peoples cars. -gnats all over the building, especially the parking garage. Within the last month there's been too many interactions with gnats is our VERY CLEAN apartment. We spend 25 a month on pest control but I can't imagine what that's actually being used for. Pros: -Justin in the leasing office. Has fantastic costumer service and is very personable. -THE A/C WHEN IT ACTUALLY WORKS!!

Daily high dude that hides behind elevator, talks to himself. Not the violent one. Does carry large blade tho

ZERO stars people I'm warning you!!!!! I was discriminated against; their so called lawyers and grey star has deep pockets! They don't pass inspections. So so glad to get out of this place. They knew I would report them and they let me out just so I shut my mouth about them. It's 100% worst apartment ever!!!! Lack of maintenance is only 1 tiny aspect. Management doesn't care. If you're still living there I highly urge you to report them and get an attorney!!!

Maria kept us in the loop of our status and guide us through the application and documentation process. The Quarry office closes on the weekend and with our busy schedule, we could only see it on the weekends. Maria made it happen and we were able to see it on Saturday. During the move in process, Maria greeted us and PERSONALLY handed us the keys and a welcome packet. She also made sure everything was in working order before we moved in. We have not seen a property manager who is this efficient and involved in San Diego. There was an incident where the maintenance guys blocked our car and we contacted Maria about it. She PERSONALLY walked out of the office, looked for them, and told them to move. Maria is wonderful and we are glad she is our property manager. The neighborhood is quiet and lovely. There's a beautiful park across the street. This area is close to downtown La Mesa.

They are postponing rentals for an indeterminate amount of time, I didn't feel like I got true or honest information about that. Josie kept referring to her boss, "the lawyer," as the reason they were not accepting move ins. I want to say I have spoken to her a few times over a month or so of apartment searching. Here's my takeaway: if they are always going to drop the "boss is a lawyer" bit, how awful is this place going to be to live? It seems ominous already and I don't even live there. I could lawyer up too (I have needed to before). But why would you want to put that energy out there. If a "lawyer" is taking actual months to draw up such an advantageous lease for them, where will that leave us? Up shit creek, that's where. I literally never have seen an apartment put move ins on hold to write up a more self serving lease. Josie seemed nice, but I felt put off ultimately by the constant "my boss is a lawyer," name dropping. I was told, no bankruptcies, period. Everyone says that. I had a hard time physically and lost a business. Hence, the bankruptcy, several years ago. My credit is solid now, really good. Most NORMAL people can figure that out. Then Josie says, "for 7 years or more." They clearly do not have a clue on what they are doing. After 7 years, you actually can file ANOTHER bankruptcy. Not that I'm planning on it, but that's what the 7 years mark is. I was really shocked that she didn't know the basics of that. My credit is good enough to obtain a mortgage at this point (I have spoken to a lender), but not rent at the Mellmanor. Maybe it's a nice place, I will never know. Good luck to you, fellow apartment hunters.

After a year living there it never went away. I stayed in apartment 8 facing the freeway, at night the walkway lights never worked so you could not see our building which made it feel unsafe especially in the evening for my wife walking alone. Its easy for anyone to hide in the bush and mug her. Once in the early morning I heard people rummaging into the apartments below me and then hurried off into a car. I reported it to management suggesting fixing the lights, they said they would and never did. My biggest gripe is how the management handles your move out. Dont expect to get your deposit, and in fact expect to pay on top of it. I took care of the apartment very well. Never wore shoes in the house, and had very little guests over in my year there. It was just me, my wife, and newborn son. Before moving out We cleaned the property thoroughly, vacuumed, and steamed the floor. We never mounted anything, or even touched the walls. First we agreed on a date and time for my final move out (afternoon slot) and an hour before it the property manager conveniently emails to cancel instead of calling. I show up, shes present and says they did the walk through in the morning without giving me a notice. I get my final statement, and they charged me for paint ($90.00), carpet repair, and cleaning. On top of my deposit that they took I had to pay extra. Again, we were clean and simple residents. What they charged me would be for anything outside normal wear and tear, but even at that there was nothing damaged, or needing to be replaced that we caused. They sent pictures of the wall with a little paint scuff smaller than a penny, and charged $90 to repair that. So it looks like they do this to every resident moving out, but dont actually do the work, because if they did especially the paint then I wouldnt have to pay anything because we didnt damage any walls. They basically pass all the fees that come with preparing for the next resident onto previous residents which isnt right especially if you didnt do anything to damage the property. I hope this helps anyone considering moving here. This is the first time Ive dealt with property managers like this. Your deposit should come back to you if you've respected the property.

I believe ownership & management are only interested in lining their own pockets to take days off at Petco Park. At one point, the barbecue grill actually had mold in it. The only thing you can really count on is The Cove La Mesa increasing the rent 10% annually. One bedrooms are about $2600 and two bedrooms go for about $3000 minimum. I would not recommend this apartment complex to anybody who's trying to save money in San Diego.

First of all they were built sometime back so even though these pricey pricey condo type apartments for even more money than here which isn't too bad here Shasta Lane apartments have living rooms that are large and spacious connected to a dining room and a kitchen then there's a hallway and then a bathroom on one side the bedroom on one side and wow walk inclosets! I say this because this feels like a home it is not compacted at all I believe it was built in the seventies but it might have even been the 50s and they just read you the parking lot as well as the roofs so everything is wonderful and they are remodeled in different ways at different times so everybody has some special kind of thing about their apartment that makes it special to them we talk amongst each other and it's a friendly place. But more than that it's been the people that work here that make it real community for me. When I left to go to a funeral in Denver where I am from, the resident relations manager who is in my building and we keep a quiet building said Shasta Lane is a family we will welcome you back. That touched me because I haven't made a lot of friends yet in california! I also want to mention somebody else, somebody very special at fixing anything you can think of someone that any business would want if they didn't need a lot of trouble and other experts and just wanted one man that could do it all and sometime with an assistant his name is Brandon Fronhoefer, the senior service manager. I never have to worry about things costing here even though renters insurance is required because the place really doesn't need a lot of repair in all of these apartments are sturdily built and not only that, the senior business manager Lorraine Seward seems to really have work with some people that took advantage of the covid no pay rent because they did not read the law and suddenly were left with oh my goodness I have to pay it all at once all back. They did not read the statute, and that is unfortunate. For some time the rain worked with these people, I noticed that people were allowed to stay for some time past the time they could repay it so that seems to have come to an end it is understandable and that is why the rent has gone up all over town. I have bad credit but I always pay my rent first. I also want to say that the staff has been especially patient with me because I have a mental illness combined with a head injury, I appear normal speak normal and do a lot of things just like everyone else, but the staff is aware of my condition and they are so sensitive it it is unbelievable! I highly recommend moving here is a wonderful place don't worry about the price I couldn't find anything cheaper in Chu la Vista you'll do well here you'll enjoy it it even has a hot tub and heated floors in my bedroom and living room amazing amazing view out of the patio facing west and a palm tree for my Colorado fun time I love San Diego and this has been a wonderful experience thank you Shasta Lane apartments.
