Big fan of Ippy's Hawaiian. Saw an IG post this morning for The Dizzy Pita. We're on the island so we had to check it out! Walk up window with a self serve kiosk with Philip right behind it to answer any menu questions we had. Super friendly as always. Ordering was quick and easy. Philip said we're welcomed to take a seat at Ippy's Hawaiian if we wanted to dine in. But we had plans to watch the sunset. It was all packaged very well. Everything was still warm by the time we got to the beach. My bf got the gyro. Said the crisp veggies were amazing and plenty of meat but lacked sauce. I had the chicken shawarma plate and it was delicious! The toum was sooo good. We also had the fries. They were good but wished it came with a side of Tzatziki or maybe sprinkled with cucumber, tomato, and red onion. Honestly, can't wait to try more!

Chicken Shawarma plate with toum (garlic sauce) $16.95...the sauce was fantastic!

If you are craving Mediterranean food, this place has you covered! They clearly know that absolutely everything is better when covered with the tangy garlicky deliciousness that is toum! The chicken shawarma plate was slathered with it and my tastebuds were happy. The hubs got the beef & lamb plate and it was absolutely delicious as well. It's a take-away spot so there is really no service or ambiance to speak of BUT the same owner has the spot a few doors down (Ippy's Hawaiian BBQ) and they were totally cool with us enjoying our meal in their spacious indoor dining area.

The dizzy fries has Feta, touched, we added the beef & lamb which is very tasty!

"TOUM" is OUTTAH THIS WORLD DELICIOUSLY YUMMY!! "BEEF & LAMB" is SOOO DELICIOUSLY YUMMY! need to taste the rest of the menu like yesterday!! Do yourself a favor if you really love garlic.... get extra Toum, you won't regret dining here!

    Massive Gyro!

Best new restaurant on Hawaii Island! It's as if Poseidon came out of the Pacific and made a Gyro for me himself! The portion size was huge and well worth the $15. The garlic sauce (Taum) was amazing. Service was top notch. Everything we wanted and more. We will be regulars!

Chicken Shawarma and some fancy fries (I forgot the name)

Let's just start by taking them first recognizing us by name when we arrived for our reservation…read more The staff, from the valet parking young men to our hostess and beyond, were as polite as we wish to be hosted. Our server, Indana is a lovely young lady. Kind, polite, helpful, and knowledgeable of her treats and establishment food menu as well as beverage. She suggested wine from Croatia that was delicious. The food was delicious, we ordered grilled octopus for appetizer , a local beet and tomatoes salad and a paella with shrimp and clams. Everything was delicious, but.... The smoked paprika added and the caramelized rice gave to the paella a whole new take on the traditional one. Thank you Chef Soto for your creation and for taking the time to talk with us. Wonderful experience!

Rome Meets the Pacific: A Revelation at Meridia…read more There is a specific kind of bravery required to order Carbonara on a tropical island, especially when you are dining with your mother-in-law and your palate is still vibrating from a trip to Italy just a month ago. We had recently dined at a prestigious "Tre Gamberi" trattoria in Rome, so our skepticism was high. We expected a heavy, cream-laden resort interpretation. We were wrong. Under the guidance of Chef Soto, the Carbonara here is not just an imitation; it is an act of alchemy. It is a Roman-meets-Norcia masterpiece--a glossy, golden emulsion of egg, cheese, and guanciale/pancetta, elevated by the earthy whisper of truffle. We were seated at a gorgeous table near the cove often frequented by sea turtles (tartarughe), making this a perfect moment of enjoying a tartufata near the tartarughe. It was, without hyperbole, as good as what we had in Italy. The rest of the meal followed suit in a dizzying display of technique. The Japanese scallops were silken and precise, tasting of the clean, cold ocean. And do not let the whimsical name of the "Poi-cotta" deter you. What sounds like a kitschy pun is actually a dessert of haunting texture and depth--far more compelling and sophisticated than its charming title suggests. Chef Soto visited our table after the meal, his passion for these ingredients palpable. Meridia has always had the view; now, finally, it has the soul to match.

Fries and onion ring are cooked perfectly. Sooo good! Lemon meringue ice cream pie is sooo good. Great combination of flavors. Awesome service. Multiple staff came around to check on us. I'm in Hawaii about twice a year, and this spot is always locked in. The sunsets here are unreal. Depending on the time of year and when your reservation is, you can catch some of the best sunsets in all of Hawaii right from your table. It's one of those places where the view alone makes the night. Food is consistently great. The pizzas are always a safe bet, the chicken parmigiana is a must, and honestly any of the pastas don't miss. Everything is just solid across the board. Drinks are on point, cocktails are strong in a good way, well made, and they've got a great wine list plus plenty of beer options. Service is exactly what you'd expect from Four Seasons, top tier, attentive, and smooth without being over the top. Also a great spot if you're vegetarian or dining with someone who is. They actually have real options, not just afterthoughts. They'll occasionally have a show with fire dancers which adds to the experience. Great food, great service, great drinks, and one of the best views you'll get anywhere. Easily my favorite restaurant in Hawaii and it's not even close. Parking: Visitor Parking is free!

First off, their macadamia ice cream is really really good! Creamy, thick, sooo tasty! We also ordered: Epic Feisty Tacos - 5/5 - comes with three tacos and spicy sauce. The tacos are super tasty and perfectly balanced spicy, savory, tangy flavors. The lemon herb chik'n is also so good, you can't even tell it's vegan. The tortillas are a bit on the crumbly side, but still equally tasty as a taco bowl. Definitely would recommend this dish if you love spicy tacos! Epic journey nachos - 4/5 - the toppings on the nachos taste similar to the feisty tacos. The chips are more like baked tortillas with a crispy exterior and softer center. Journey Classic Crepe and Blueberry macnut crepe - 3/5 - The crepe itself was a bit thick, I'd describe it as more of a pancake than a crepe as crepes should be super thin. Still pretty good though all together, fruity and sweet. Latte with oat milk - 4/5 - a bit on the bitter side but not a bad latte! Asian salad - 4/5 - good salad, vegan meat is well seasoned and everything pairs well together. It wasn't very Asian tasting though, more like a Mexican-Asian fusion salad.

I particularly enjoyed their strawberry shake, which was so refreshing. I noticed that they also have a coffee one, which means I'll need to stop in again next time I'm in Kona. in spite of walking in during a busier time of day, service was quick both while putting in the order and waiting for our food to come out of the kitchen. The decor is a visually fun and engaging mix of greenery and art designed to keep diners feeling cooler in Kona's heat. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available.
