The Dog House has been a godsend for me and my Akitas. I had previous trainers tell they would never be able to be in a group play setting due to aggressive behavioral issues. I found the Dog House 2 years ago, and pretty much said challenge accepted. Laurie and Aaliyah have transformed these guys. I still cannot believe not only Aaliyah but the rest of the staff are fenomial. My puppies are excited to go there and be loved on. The owner reach out to me and offered apologies for the inconvenience and personally took on my dog for grooming the following week. 1 day and he caught Kennel Cough!!! I was trying to find a doggy daycare for my dog a few days a week and the reviews were good so I thought I'd give them a try. We arrived at 10am on Monday, July 12 for the 15 min assessment where they bring different dogs in one at a time to make sure your dog doesn't show aggression. They came to tell me my dog passed the assessment and could stay the rest of the day for free. I left him there til 4pm and when I picked him up, the person that brought him out said she hadn't been working in the area he was so she couldn't tell me how his first day had been. My 1st thought was I didn't like that. You should at least have someone that can let a parent know how their pup's 1st day went. By Friday, July 16 he was coughing and hacking terribly. I brought him to the vet and with a $500 vet bill, they said he'd picked up Kennel Cough. Which he has NEVER had. He's never been boarded, off leash at a dog park or been to doggy daycare before this. Due to covid we don't really go anywhere so I thought this would be nice for him. NEVER AGAIN will we frequent this establishment. I called to tell them and the front desk person said, "I don't know how that's possible, we haven't had an outbreak here, but I'll tell the owner." She didn't bother to get my name or number, my dog's name or the date we'd been there. We won't be back. read more

I have been taking both my dogs here for over a year with no issues. A few days ago I took my Yorkie, Stevie, in and a different groomer from the one she usually had took her. She hasn't been the same since. It's almost like she has PTSD. I talked to the groomer directly and asked for 1/2" fur on her body, instead she shaved parts of my dog down to the skin. There's a spot on her neck where she was nicked. I don't want it to sound like all the groomers are bad. Becky has been grooming my dog for a year and did a wonderful job. This woman who took her (I didn't get her name) has totally traumatized my dog. Her personality is completely different and it's heartbreaking. read more

I REALLY wanted to love this place. I'll start out with the pros: I was able to schedule really easily and quickly, where I've found this to be difficult with most facilities taking in less clients at a time due to COVID. Pricing was very reasonable, slightly less than their competition for my dogs' sizes and the services I requested The staff was very professional and friendly. They seemed to really love dogs, which should be a given, but it isn't always! My dog's were cleaned up reasonably well considering I have one who hates baths, and hates being brushed, and a second dog who is EXTREMELY hyper and wiggly. They did it fast! 3.5 hrs for two big dogs, granted neither got full cuts.. I only requested baths and brushing. But I was still impressed. Now for my cons: The place REALLY smelled of dogs and animal urine.. I know they provide boarding and daycare too, so I would think it's harder to keep it smelling fresh than an exclusive groomer, but my dogs took one sniff and didn't want to go in. Maybe too fast? We've been back home for 5 hours, and my shepherd mix is still damp. I requested the furminator treatment, and her undercoat is still shedding a great deal. And since she's a little wet, she actually smells worse than before. Like I said, they were super friendly, reasonably priced and seemed to treat my potentially difficult/annoying pups with care. I will probably try to give them another chance at some point. For $95 it's a little disappointing to have one dog still wet, shedding and smelling like she's been out in the rain.. especially when they didn't get full cuts and only went to be freshened up. read more

If you love your healthy dog, DO NOT BRING THEM TO "THE DOG HOUSE." My dog had been groomed here once and the business seemed very professional and nice. I recently had to be out of town for 3 weeks to help a family member out. After several days, I called and they told me my dog wasn't eating. He ended up losing 10 pounds in 10 days. That's a LOT of weight to lose in 10 days. I finally had a friend pick him up, and not only did they try and rip me off financially, but the dog was found sitting in his own urine and smelled horribly. My friend literally cooked him chicken and rice for the next 10 days, and he gained some of the weight back. When he got home, he was coughing, very lethargic and not eating at all. I took him to his Vet yesterday, and his weight was still down 10#. He had developed some sort of respiratory infection and was place on Doxycycline to clear that up. Then his stool showed that he had coccidiosis which is found in areas of poor sanitation. When I called and spoke with Laurie, the owner, not only was she rude, but she refused to even admit that these problems are resultant of poor living conditions. She made a political remark to me and hung up. PLEASE, if you love your pet, DO NOT leave your pet at this facility ever. You'll regret trusting your animal's health with people who are unprofessional. read more

I had gone to this location for several years. My dog had come home with injuries on two previous occasions and Laurie had assured me that it wouldn't happen anymore. She said it wasn't cuts but burns from the clippers being too hot. I continue to go here for convenience because it was so close to my house but this turned out to be a grave error. Laurie has always defensive about the injuries. I don't know why I tolerated her. She would say that Rebecca was sensitive to the clippers insinuating that somehow began that was the dog's fault Rebecca's a 11-year-old poodle and didn't deserve to be treated like this. On the last grooming my dog was injured so badly I had to take her to the vet and they had to cut out the injury and sew her face back together to stop the scarring and to get rid of the infection. I've never heard from them. Horrible, irresponsible groomers and ownership. read more

My dog had been attending this daycare for months (close to 1 year). Up until last week I assumed everything was going great. Every time he was picked up we were told he did great! So getting a call last week that he was no longer allowed to attend due to his energy level really threw me off. I mean I know he is hyper, I explained that on day 1. I called back and asked to speak with someone regarding what exactly happened. I spoke to a manager who stated he didn't know all the details but let me know that my dogs high energy was causing other dogs to fight, which in turn led him being put up in a separate kennel area. He also stated that his recall was not good and he was becoming aggressive with the leash. He told me that the trainer or manager would reach out to me to discuss further as he wasn't aware of why I was not told about this sooner. No one called. So I called back and asked to speak with the trainer and was told she wasn't in but she would call me the following day. Still never received a call. All I wanted was an explanation of what exactly happened so I know I'm the future how to proceed with taking him to other daycares or boarding. I'm extremely disappointed on how this was handled and I feel like the least they could have done was returned my call. Please just make sure that if your dog is on the hyper side or has questionable behaviors you ask to speak to a manager every now and then to make sure there is nothing going on that you are unaware of, as the kennel staff apparently can't say anything but they did great, even when my dog was on his way to being kicked out of the facility. read more

I read the reviews here and was a little weary with some of the bad ones. And then I read the good ones and thought we would give it a shot. Our puppy was just getting a hair cut- but when we got her back she looked the same. Not much hair cut off at all. She had to go to the bathroom immediately so do they not let them out? We have been using The Dog House for a few years now. Prior to this, we used many other grooming and boarding places. This place is by far the best. Lorri will not tolerate people working in her business that do not actually like dogs. I know that sounds silly, but it is evident that everyone in the place actually enjoys being near your animals. They greet my dogs with enthusiasm and excitement. My older dog (think ancient dog) has always been terrified of the groomer and boarding places. Not her. She walks in with her tail up and wide mouthed "grin". I never have any fears that my dogs aren't cared for in the same way each of these people would care for their own babies. My dogs love this place! They are sooo exhausted after half day of play. The staff is amazing. They go above and beyond. I have pit mixes- one was losing her hair I had tried everything and nothing was working-- it was bad. One of the staff members took the time to recommend a handful of foods she had seen work for hair loss on pits and now my pup has all of her hair again! Thanks! AVOID AT ALL COST!! This groomer wasn't horrible initially and I've been going here for over a year. There had never really been any "major" issues until today. When I picked up my Yorkie Zeke today I noticed a bald spot on his face and lacerations on the skin where the hair was missing. Honestly mistakes happen because dogs get those eye boogers from time to time. If that would have been the explanation, I would have accepted it a lot better. Instead the owner gave me the most idiotic explanation to why my dogs face was messed up that it made my skin crawl! Her explanation was that the eye crud which is a bacteria can eat/irritate the dogs skin. I understand how bacteria works, but this bacteria does not cause a bald spot that looks like the dogs hair has been ripped out. My dogs has been coming here for over a YEAR with the same eye boogers and has never left with a bald spot! What made her look even MORE guilty is she then tried to deflect the issue by bringing up dental issues with my dog. Last time I checked, this is a groomer, not a dentist! If you wanted to be a dentist, go to dental school! My dog has lacerations in his face and a huge bald spot!! That's what you need to focus on explaining! NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN AND IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR DOG, AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!! This is not a honest groomer and you shouldn't trust your pet with a dishonest person. read more

My dog is twelve years old, and The Dog House is the BEST groomer we've found in her lifetime. Another reviewer said they are everything you want in a groomer, and I absolutely agree. The Dog House is CALM, which is amazing. So many groomers are filled with crying , miserable dogs, but they are so good at keeping the dogs calm that usually you only hear one vocal dog! A friend's two dogs were caught in a housefire and I brought them to the Dog House for baths to get the smoke smell out. They were so amazing with these two traumatized babies. They are also great about staying in touch if anything changes or they want clarification while working on your pet. And they do such a great job! My dog has never looked better. And she doesn't hate going to the groomers. read more

This is the best place I've been to! You usually need to call ahead a week or two for an appointment, though, because they are THAT GOOD! It's definitely worth the wait and I won't take my dogs anywhere else, now that I know how my little pups are treated.
