We boarded our two dogs with Brookstone as we have for over 4 years. Unfortunately, the past 2 times it's been horrible. The first time, one dog came back covered in feces. We emailed them and they apologized. This time the same thing happened AND the same dog came back coughing. Now we have to deal with separating the dogs at home and take time from work after our vacation to deal with kennel cough. The second dog got a free bath and when we picked them up, she was soaking wet. We board them at a vet to ensure they're safe. This is not how we expect our dogs to be treated. read more

We are almost always dissappointed with the way our dog leaves after boarding. He's not only highly stressed when we pick him up he smells bad as if he was allowed to soak in urine this time. I wish they would do more in this space. The doctors seem well trained and caring and that has been a good experience. read more

Came here after already visiting one vet for my cat that couldn't pee( already has a catheter inside) supposedly all the information was send to this place which is where he was staying the night and needed surveillance. That's all! I waited in the room for over an HOUR for them to just repeat what the other vet already said to me and already had been sent to them.... And then proceeded to say all they need to do is keep him there over night.... read more

I was raised if you're ten minutes early you're on time. So I'm never late. This place does not care how long it takes to see you. You will wait a least ten minutes before they address you. But what's worse is their double standard of it. If you are late, any form of it then they'll reschedule you even if you're just minutes away. We had a very ill cat that needed help fast. Brookstone Animal Hospital was our first call for help. I had left a email and appointment request online the previous night. Before they even opened in the morning I received a call from them. After a few minutes of discussion I was told to come in immediately. Once in, the caring staff took our cat and assessed her condition, followed by immediate tests and diagnosed her with a severe abscess that needed surgery to resolve. Dr. Hier and ALL of the staff were absolutely outstanding! They addressed the problem quickly and professionally. We were able to bring our cat home the same day, with directions covering her medications and post-op care. I'm very impressed with everyone at BAH. Thank you! read more

It was time for my 20-year-old cat to transition with a little help from a vet. The people in this office knew why I was coming in and they were very compassionate and caring about my feelings. However, I wish they would have paid more attention to how they treated my cat than how they treated me. Because I now have a memory of an unpleasant and hurtful experience for my cat. The price was reasonable but not at the expense of my cat being hurt. To keep this brief I will give you an overview. With my cat being over 20 years old she was skinny with not much muscle or fat. I asked them not to pick her up by her rib cage because there's no padding there. However they picked her up by her rib cage and I got to hear her cry. My cat is not a crybaby at all. Through the years she has had her nails trimmed, gotten injections, etc........ she was such a sweet and loving cat that she just purred when she was being treated by a vet. She has never scratched or bitten anyone nor has she tried to run away from a vet. Now we all know that when you have older humans or older animals, things seem to shrink and it's harder to find a vein on both an animal and a human being. I don't know how many times they stuck her because they couldn't find her vein but she got stuck in both legs several times while they tried to put in the IV. I would have paid for them to have given her a tranquilizer or something else so that the pain wouldn't have been too great. I don't even want to think about how many times they stuck her to find the vein. The tech told me they had a hard time finding veins in either leg. My heart breaks that this was her last experience. I could tell she was traumatized when she came out of the back room from getting an IV put in her leg.....she looked exhausted. When you've been with your cat for 20 years, you just 'know' them. The tech wanted to give her a sedative after the IV was put in so she would relax. My cat was already totally relaxed and I told her that I was not done saying goodbye to my cat. I expressed that I was concerned that they might get a sedative in her system and she and I wouldn't be able to connect to say goodbye. I expressed this to the tech with much emotion, and told her it was important to me to be able to say goodbye before they knocked her out with a sedative. I was assured that she would still be awake but just relaxed. They gave her the sedative and her eyes rolled back in her head and that was that.....until the vet gave her an injection for her to permanently go to sleep. I can't believe that as much as I told the tech that it was important to me to have some time to say goodbye to my cat...... that she still gave her a sedative that knocked her out. So I was not able to have final waking, connecting moments with my cat AND they hurt her! They left me with a memory that I am trying to remove from my memory bank and remember only the happy moments but that hasn't been easy. Have set up two appointments only to find out they had been cancelled either the day of the appointment or when I proactively called to check appointment status and was told we were no longer on the schedule. Not sure what has happened here but its definitely not the same quality service. read more

My dog which is a pit Bull mix was treated so well here. I adore the vet tech Ryan and the vet Margaret. The most kind amazing people. Who took care of my baby. Did I pay more for them to get him In ? I would pay double for this amazing crew. Keep in mind I have gone to places that gave home one look and judge him. Not here. We have loved the vet but the front office have left a lot to be desired to say the least, and now have crossed the line and been blatantly disrespectful to my wife. We booked an appt and were told to be at the office via both email and text at 7:30am this morning. My wife was at the the office early, saw cars in the parking lot waiting but it must have all been staff as they all went in the back door together. My wife went to the front door but it was still locked. Then a girl parked and walked by her and mentioned they don't open until 8am, at which point my wife told her she was told 730am and the girl replied that someone would let her in shortly. Standing in the cold my wife took 'shortly' to mean asap, but people continued to get settled inside (my wife could see them taking their time to start their day) so my wife knocked on the door multiple times as people walked by but THEY ALL BLANKED HER. A couple at the front desk were wiping their equipment down around 750am (only mins before their 'open' time but 20 mins after they told her to be there - and they looked at her only to look back down. That was enough, so my wife called and asked to speak with the vet, and they were told the vet was unavailable and then told multiple times that she was never told 730am and that she was always told 8am (despite my wife having copies of both messages saying 730am). My wife left. If that was not enough, my wife got home and emailed asking for our dogs records and copied both messages saying 730am, expecting a reply with an explanation and apology. We wanted to resolve the issue as we love the vet, but all she got was a blank reply - no message, just our pet's records. I'm still in disbelief that people can have jobs and think it is acceptable to treat people this way. SMH. read more

Have been going to Brookstone for some time. Always felt comfortable with them and the treatment, until today 9-21. Phoned the office to get an appointment to bring my dog in to get looked at again for an ongoing issue she has been having. They told us today that they are not equipped to see her? And we should go see some vet they thought would be better. Its sad we are not going to use this vet any longer. I always wonder if its the front staff answering? Or is it the Dr telling the person on the phone what to say? Either way today was about as unprofessional, not compassionate or pet friendly. read more

Took me last minute for my cat diesels eye problems! Ran lots of tests and sent me home with some eye drops for his poor little eyes. They were courteous, friendly and I was in and out in a reasonable amount of time. I would recommend them to anyone! read more

Absolutely amazing facility! I've taken my cats here several times for both emergencies and routine wellness visits. The staff is always incredibly nice. They listen to your concerns and answer all questions. I've never had cats before, so I have a lot of questions as a first time owner, and they are always so patient with me. They are always very transparent as well and take the time to explain everything they are doing / recommending. I cannot recommend them enough. read more

My dog was running low on her Galliprant. Called on Wednesday for a refill. She said the dog was coming due for a wellness exam but she would talk to the doctor and give me a refill in the meantime. She still had 2 scrips left. She never called back. So I called today. Somehow the note to the doctor got misplaced. Now they said she needs an exam before issuing any medication. They said the next available appointment is next Friday. So no meds for a week. Last time I went in for an appointment, I called before going and they said all appointments were running on time. I sat in the exam room for an hour before the doctor came in. During that hour I went out and asked the front desk who said they had run into an emergency. But did not share that with me. What a fantastic place. We called because our 14 year old dog was dying and we needed her to be put to sleep and end her suffering. We had never been before, but they treated us like family and roomed us immediately, talked us through the process and were so nice and respectful. We believe there is no better animal hospital than Brookstone! Update: I realized I never posted this review. I noticed this when I came to update this review because today we received a card from Brookstone that 10 members of the staff had signed and wrote very nice messages to us about our dog and when we came in. Horrible customer service. I moved to the area about a year ago and recently needed to get my dog seen for her annual appointment. I called the office on a Tuesday and no one answered so I was prompted to leave a detailed voicemail where I was told I would receive a call back. No one ever called back. Called again in Thursday, no answer. Called TWICE on the following Monday at two different times and again received the answering service. If they can't even be bothered to pick up the phone or call me back, I have no intention of giving them my service. Ended up going to a different veterinarian office on Due West and had the most amazing experience. read more

My dog's health took a bad turn within a few days, we needed to put her to sleep. My normal vet said they were overbooked and refused to schedule us. I heard about Brookstone from my sister. They accepted us on short notice, they made all our options clear, they were really kind and professional through the whole thing, and the cost was much lower than we expected. I took my dog Sully here after he began limping and his normal vet wouldn't be able to see him for several days. This office is clean and smells so much better than any other vet I have been to. The doctor was very thorough in his exam and I didn't feel pressured to pick the most expensive treatment plan possible. Which I greatly appreciated and isn't the norm with vets. The staff here has always been so helpful, nice and caring but the way they took care of us when we had to put down our beloved Knuckles was exceptional. The last time I had to put one of my babies down, the experience at another hospital was cold and careless so I was so impressed with the way Brookstone took care of us. Dr. West especially saw us through the whole process from diagnoses to the very end and was so careful and considerate when it came time to say good bye. Love the vets here. Took my Aussie here to get 2 teeth removed and everything went great. They kept me updated during the surgery when another tooth was found that needed to be removed. They gave her EXTRA cuddling and care and gave her extra meds because she is a reactor to vaccines (she had absolutely NO problems after her vaccines). I was very disappointed here. It's a very nice facility clean and I did not get any offensive odor like so many others. But the Doctor I saw was more interested in selling me things than fixing the problem that my cat was having. It was very difficult to get a word in edge wise and when I did talk - I don't think she was listening. Very disconcerting and irritating. I really do not care for this kind of practice. My father was a Veterinarian, Kansas State U./Davis - they're the best! He had an extremely successful practice and recognized the value of service at the highest quality level. read more

Whereas another local vet consistently prescribed ineffective treatment for our dog, the vet at Brookstone Animal Hospital correctly identified our dog's condition, provided multiple treatment options, and explained the various next steps we could take based upon lab results. *A representative from the office called the next day to check in on how our dog was doing after her first phase of treatment. My dog this morning was choking and in a life or death situation. I called the hospital asking them to tell me what to do to unblock his airway because he would die otherwise. She continued try and have me make an appointment multiple times after I told her this was urgent she put me on hold to look for an appointment for me. I was extremely frustrated and hung up. Luckily we figured it out ourselves and he is doing well. The owner was extremely nice and reached out to me giving me her personal phone number. She was very concerned about the state of my dog which was refreshing after the phone call I had earlier. All in all, the girl on the phone was new and the owner didn't hesitate to reach out to me. In the moment I was frustrated but it's nice to know that the owner was willing to go out of her way to help understand and apologize for the situation and even offer us a free visit. read more

I left my pet at Brookstone for 4 nights. They gave him is prescribed food as well as medication. I was amazed to see the cat boarding was much more than a cage. He had 2 perches, private cubby for his litter, and a sitting area. If you have multiple cats the condos can connect. I hate having to board him, but he was well taken care of. Next time I will request the condo closer to the window for him. read more

Took our cat Mittens in for 1 yr exam. Our vet assistant was Mackenzie. She was super nice and friendly and wonderful with the cat. The Vet was also very friendly and spent a lot of time with us. Then we had a tour of the cat boarding facilities and booked our kitty in for a vacation. Everybody there is welcoming and kind. Would definitely recommend this animal hospital !! read more

Our yellow lab is always excited to take a trip to Brookstone Animal Hospital, and then doesn't want to leave! I let his reaction be my guide, and we haven't been disappointed with our service! This was the first vet we visited, and we never went anywhere else. All their facilities are always very clean (and smell great!). The receptionists are always super friendly and helpful. We have seen Dr. Mizell and Dr. Hiers, and could not be more pleased with the care and information they give us. The technicians always take so much time to help and answer questions. I am always so impressed that they take the time to explain your charges, and don't try to push you into anything that isn't truly necessary. Check-out is very convenient, also. We have also used the boarding and grooming facilities, as well. I know when I leave my pet that he is very well-taken care of, and loved! We highly recommend the VIP suite! Katie and Ashley have always been so wonderful from the beginning. Our lab has shedding issues, and they have helped us get this under control!
