We were passing by from the park and found this place on yelp with great reviews. The food was delicious and great service. If you want a good hot dog get the jumbo! Old converted gas station!

    My weenie recommends it!

Quirky local hot dog joint. I had the mad dog, which is is a frank wrapped in roast beef and melted mozzarella with bacon. Tasty, but not as good as the chili dog. The chili is quite tasty and my partner devoured the loaded baked potato.

The food was pretty good. The local spots are always a win. The price was excellent for what you received. It was fresh as well. Service was fast. I'd definitely be visiting again.

Hot dogs are an American staple and The Dog Pound takes them to the next level. They have brats, Italian sausages, hot links whatever you want. The brat had the perfect snap to the casing. My only asterisk would be that the "chili" is more of just a meat sauce but it is still very good. The staff were friendly but definitely a good addition to Cave City. Prices were comparable to your chain fast food restaurant so instead of going to one of those places swing in here.

You come for the Hotdogs you stay for the service. No question The dog pounds home made hotdogs are great, with the perfect amount of snap and spices on its own, but paired with what has to be the best cold slaw Iv had yet in Kentucky perfect balance of sweet and creamy with just enough tangy. I also had the chili dog it's something to come back for or order more than you want. Like eating with family you like lol enjoyed this pit stop between Nashville worth a stop Price $ Atmosphere: hill country chic Service **** better than anyplace you'll stop, 5star

Just had the most amazing lunch after exploring some caves. The men that run The Dog Pound had the best customer service and were extremely friendly. The hot dogs were AMAZING! What could be better than a giant hot dog smothered in bacon and Mac and cheese?! The toppings were very generous. I'm excited to stop by this local joint again on my trip!

Welcoming environment but it had outside seating only. The owner is very kind and personable! The hot dogs were wonderful and the waffle fries were super fresh. I Will come back every time I stop down to see the caves!!!

It smelled great and the food we seen delivered to other tables also looked great. We got a sample platter with ribs and brisket. The ribs were over cooked and chewy and the brisket was a lot of fat. The sides were just ok. Maybe it was just an off day for them because I see a lot of great reviews. We stopped in later in the evening so that may be the reason the meats were off. Again, not thrilled with our meal here, but may give them another chance earlier in the day.

My son and I both wanted to try the brisket so he got the platter and I chose the sandwich. I was told they make most of the sides that aren't fried options such as tater tots, which I was happy about. They had the classic barbecue sauce on the table as well as a spicy option. Both were equally delicious. My sandwich came on Texas toast, which is a fave. The portions were a great value as they do not skimp! The fried potatoes are made in house and they were delicious. Even though they don't make the onion rings in house they were also quite good. My one disappointment was, they don't make the majority of their desserts. And the menu states that their daughter-in-law Kayle makes different desserts daily and they didn't have that. They were actually out of several desserts, which was disappointing. Since the only ones they had were not ones made in house I chose to not get one. Since we live 3 1/2 hours away I guess I'll have to give it another shot for the dessert option next time around. Overall, the place was terrific and the folks were friendly. They have a salad bar in the middle of the floor, which is a nice touch. They have a very laid-back atmosphere and it is definitely family friendly. And you definitely get good size portions for the money.

Let's start with the expected: chicken fried chicken was amazing. The loaded fry appetizer also amazing. Sides were great. Mac and cheese and green beans both well above average to me. The waitresses were all so helpful and sweet. But let's talk about the other amazing part. This place feels right out of a post apocalyptic movie! If you've ever wanted to feel "out of this world" or in a community fenced off from the zombie apocalypse and struggling to make you feel some normalcy in your life... THIS IS THE PLACE. My goodness I loved it. An old couple in the corner was playing some Garth Brooks covers to set the mood. A "straight from the 80s arcade room" in the back had some flashing lights shine through the doorway into the main dining room. Also... this place was packed. The dusty parking lot did not have a single spot for us open and we had to wait on a parking spot. No wait when we got inside luckily. But back to the post apocalyptic vibe... I really can't explain it much better. The 80s arcade... the wood paneling on the walls. The old toy heavy machinery and trains lining the walls. The smell of the food thickening the air. Even the staff... all unique as can be!!! Don't forget the overstock Christmas plates they pulled out for us to use!!! Highly recommend this place for the food... but if you've ever wanted to experience what a restaurant would be like after the zombies take over... Give yourself a treat and come here!!!

Being the fourth customer and having the process repeated in front of me I finally walked out approximately fifteen minutes later with my burger. When I unwrapped the burger it had cheese on it. There was a covered portion, but we stayed in the sun to stay warm in the cool spring air. The server sat us immediately and brought us complimentary fresh chips and salsa. We were starving, so we gobbled them up while flipping through the extensive menu. The servers brought us extra chips and salsa while we waited for our food and drinks. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and two steak tacos off the à la carte lunch menu (until 3pm daily). There was a $0.99 upcharge each for grilled vs shredded chicken and carne asada vs ground beef, and it was totally worth it. My daughter ordered two grilled chicken quesadillas as well. And our friends ordered beef nachos and a fajita platter. All of it was delicious, with large portions. I had a couple of house margaritas, which were tasty and a steal at just $5.50 each. My only complaints were that the queso dip was rather small and not worth the $5, and (like most places) they charge way too much for a soda ($3.25). The service was excellent. Our server Juan was friendly and very attentive, and several others checked in on us throughout our meal to ensure we were taken care. I'll definitely be back the next time I visit Cave City, Hidden River Cave, or Kentucky Down Under.
