PLEASE DO NOT take your dog here. Our 6 month old puppy was in their care for one week and they killed him. He died from starvation, dehydration and heat stroke due to their negligence per the judges verdict in the court ruling. The Dog Pros were found negligent in his death. You can find this public information in the Mecklenburg county court records. He was 46 lbs when we dropped him off and 6 days later he was 35 lbs. How does a healthy puppy lose 10 lbs in 6 days!? How is this even possible!? We had a necropsy report run from a nc state facility and his little body organs and brain were basically cooked from a heat stroke. 109 degree temperature.! Three vets we spoke with had never seen a temp on an animal over 107 degrees. They were shocked! The amount of suffering this puppy endured is beyond cruel. No food or water in the middle of summer. Kept in a room with a hot tin roof and inadequate air conditioning. The sheriffs department ordered an animal welfare check in the facility per our request and found that out of 26 dogs held there that only one bowl out of 26 had water in it (in the middle of summer). The officers also noted there were no food or watering schedules posted so basically no one there is accountable for making sure the dogs have adequate water. This was in late June. The Dog Pros were issued a citation from animal welfare officers that day. When the officers were issuing the citation, the owner Sara commented " all this over a dog, it was just a dog"! ( referring to our puppy shadow). They do not care about the welfare of the animals there, they just want your money . We tried to file criminal charges to get this place shut down to prevent any more animals from getting killed but unfortunately the laws in North Carolina only consider dogs property so criminal charges couldn't be brought. However we were able to take Dog Pros to court and they were found negligent in causing our puppy's death and charged with animal cruelty. They starved our puppy so that when he was training he would respond better to their commands. That's what they do to all the dogs trained there. Their training methods are beyond disgusting and cruel. If anyone is considering getting your puppy/dog trained here please take the your fur baby somewhere else or you may not see your dog again alive. Imagine the pain and suffering our sweet innocent puppy went through basically being cooked alive in a building with a hot tin roof in the middle of summer not getting food or water because they were withholding those things from him . read more

The dog pros " KILLED" our 6 month old Samoyed puppy with a one week training where our puppy "SHADOW" did NOT receive food, water and lost over 25 percent of his body weight in one week. He was put into "HEATSTROKE" with negligent food/water and very hot/humid facilities. There were multiple failures at this facility and numerous visits by animal cruelty- as well as sheriff and NC Dept of Agriculture for the investigation. So you all know, they DO NOT have a LICENSE --- all boarding facilities must have a license --but if you also train the state loophole doesn't require a license. This means lack of regulations and potential harm to your dogs. This case went Charlotte Mecklenburg Court ---the DOG PROS were found to be guilty of Neglience and animal cruelty. Animal Contril gave a warning and found numerous violations. DO NOT TRUST your fur babies /your beloved puppies and dogs to this facility. BEWARE--- Owners are Sara and Ian Forbus, at the time, and our family didn't even get an apology letter or heartfelt apology. Our Samoyed was a bounding happy puppy and perfectly healthy --to be taught "off leash walking" and not even one minute was spent on that training. They spent a very small part of the day- motivating him with treats --after starving him ---to practice sit,place and come. Things he had been trained before and knew easily. One week of training and locked in a crate. Don't let them fool you. ...they call it a kennel run. The dogs -- can move one foot to either side of crate. They don't feed them and give water because they spend 23 hours a day locked up in a crate and don't want to clean their cages. He was 46.5 pounds when we took him into there care and they would not allow us to visit him at all for that week...told us he was doing great. His temperature was 109.5 ---heatstroke and 3 vets said they had never seen a heatstroke that high. One week later our puppy shadow weighed 35 pounds for over 11.5 pound weight loss from malnutrition and dehydration. Lack of water. Hi temps in the hot tin roof building that have fans only when they promised to keep at 68 degrees -- animal cruelty at sheriff dept found the temp in high 80,s with 90+percent humidity. I've had the best experience at The Dog Pros. I have a black lab and a golden retriever, they have both been trained there. They went through the day train program, which was super convenient for me. I would drop them off in the morning and pick them up in the evening. At the end of each week I would have a lesson to learn what they are learning. It is truly amazing what they can do! They helped me control my dogs on walk, not to jump, how to call them back when outside/inside, and how to keep them on their bed until I say they can leave. I got to take my dogs to the beach and did not have to worry about them running off! They got to play in the water and enjoyed themselves, without me being stressed if they would run off. I am so grateful for everything they did to help me train my dogs! They do use e-collars but they always make sure that you completely understand how to use them correctly before you leave. I personally do not have a problem with my dogs wearing an e-collar, but if you are hesitant I would definitely talk to them about it. I do have to say that even with my dogs on a e-collar, they are still the happiest they can be. They do not have to wear their collars all the time because the collar helped them learn how they should behave. Also when you are done with training, they send a trainer out to your house, which is amazing! I was having a few problems at home and they helped me fix it! We have just completed 3 weeks of 3 sessions each week at Dog Pros with my sons 1-year old mixed breed (pit bull). When we brought her in she did not have any dog manners and didn't play well with my companion dog. I am so pleased with how Nora has transformed. We still have 2-in house visits and 6 group classes to go but the dog I used to dread coming to my house has become an absolute pleasure. The folks at Dog Pros are dedicated, knowledgeable professionals and have the expertise to really evaluate dogs. They saw something that I did not and were able to transform her behavior almost effortlessly. We opted for dog training collar what a difference it has made. We have a second-time rescue dog that had major dog aggression issues and anxiety. I didn't know how we were going to be able to keep him.
