They honored my refund on 4/12/19 but only for one mistake even though I was written in the book 3 times. The gyro was decent this time.

For the price and comfort, I love it. Then good thing it's open late. Variety of food, location is great and parking available.

I'v e Lived a block away from Dog Stop for about 14 years now. And Even though it's been placed one of the dirtiest places in Chicago. It has gotten much better since it's review. Mostly run by Older Teens and a few Adults This place has the best food out there, fast food i mean I always eat the Italian Beef or the Hot Dogs But my friends have had a lot of the food and we just can't get enough. The prices are getting a little ridiculous but I still will never find a place with as good Italian beef as this. read more

I have been to the Dog Stop about 5 times but unfortunately I need to focus on my Wednesday Drive Through. The drive through was nice and relatively quick (as usual), and I can't complain about the prices. However the food was just disgusting. I don't know if it was a day old or what but it was just awful. I hope I am wrong and it was a one time deal but I will stop by in a few months to confirm. read more

This used to be my neighborhood go-to spot, but not so much anymore. Prices went up but I still kept coming because the food is great. Sounds silly but the one thing that drove me away is how stingy they are with their ketchup packets! You have to beg them to get any & they act like you're killing them if you get two! For spending $12-15 on a meal, I expect some damn ketchup. read more

The Dog Stop fits this neighborhood. This place has been here since I can remember at least 20 years. It looks exactly the same. Every time I'm here for lunch there's a Chicago police officer eating. The quality of the food is above average. I have tried the italian beef, fries, chicken sandwich, & hot dog. The style of the hot dog is not like the most well known spots in Chicagoland. Their hot dogs have large diced onions, no relish, tomato, a different tasting pickle, & comes with fries. Overall the service is fast, the menu has many items, the quality is good, the building needs remodeling, and I hope the management takes note of the bad reviews on yelp. In the fast food business its hard to keep loyal customers. You can buy a hot dog on every other block in the city. read more

Yum...went through the drive thru and the soup of the day was cream of mushroom and I give it an A++. I got a large and it came in a big container for a decent price. thick soup with huge chunks of mushroom. I also ordered fries and they were crunchy and fresh. And this was at 11pm!! The workers were very nice. The drive thru line took kind of a while but the wait was worth it for hot fresh food late at night! read more

I'm vegetarian, so the fact that I've ever been here surprises even me, but my best friend loves hot dogs and wanted to stop here when we were in the area. I ordered a tuna salad on ciabatta bread with fries. It was good and greasy, just what you'd expect from a place like this. I used to live by this place and went there a bunch of times. I usually ordered their hot dogs and gyros with fries which are decent. Later on I found out about something called a Fry Pan which is not on their menu, it comes in an aluminum dish with gyros, fries, cheese and ketchup all mixed up, I really liked it and it gets you full!! Anyway last I heard this place was closed down for a bit by the Health Department and reopened a couple weeks later. read more

I did not think it was possible to make a bad hot dog - apparently it is! I stopped in here one day on the way home craving a hot dog. It was VERY small for the price, the bun was soggy, the fries were soggy and the hot dog was tasteless. It was the worst hot dog I have ever had. It is only about 5 blocks form my house. This place isn't what it used to be. Going here is nostalgic as I used to go in highschool. However, I've gone here twice within the past week. After the first time, I thought maybe it was just that one time and decided to give it another shot. I was so disappointed on how consistently bad their fries are. To be specific, their fries were bland. No salt or seasoning. They were also stale both times. The only reason why they got a 2 star versus 1 is because their sandwiches are still decent. Good local spot for fast food! I usually get the gyro sandwich there with the cucumber sauce (they also have a garlic sauce). The prices are reasonable compared to other fast food places in the area however I think the gyros here are better. This place is also convenient because they also have a drive thru window which is also very fast. They have never messed up any of my orders and the staff are courteous. read more

I always appreciate non-franchised fast food places with drive-thru. This was my first time and I dined in while waiting for the bus (so conveniently located a few feet from the bus stop). I had a hot dog and fries, which cost a little over $3. Not bad. It was a short wait for my food. The fries were perfectly crisp and not oily or soggy at all. The hot dog was classic Chicago style with the poppyseed bun and everything. So glad I stopped in. I'll definitely be back... Maybe to try the drive thru next time! read more

When you go into a restaurant and order over $40 dollars of food, you would expect to have your done correctly. Especially when you as the staff if you should check your order before you leave, and the response they give is no. So you asume it is going to be exactly what you order. Another issue, when you request cucumber sauce for your gyros and receive something that doesn't taste like cucumber sauce. Now I know they sell garlic sauce as well, but that wasn't it either. It's a wonder why we don't order to often considering we live down the street. Just disappointing. read more

This place did the trick during my high school years. It was a popular hangout with cheap eats. I have enjoyed the mozzarella sticks and gyros. The hot dogs are basic, but good as well. There are plenty of tables inside as well as an outdoor seating area. Now that I have grown up, I no longer frequent this establishment. read more

My in-laws live within walking distance of DS so when we make the trip from Ohio, we usually stop here when we arrive. I am not big on sausage and hot dogs so I get the grilled chicken salad. The chicken is amazing: delicious seasonings, never fatty! The price is a bit ridiculous considering the lettuce just about floats away it's so water-logged. I typically order extra chicken and eat that with a bit of dressing and lettuce. The French fries are ok. The drive through takes forever!!! The male employees give skeezy looks. read more

we used to live down the street so dog stop was always a quick, easy favorite on the way home from school. its your typical fast food burger joint, so not much to say about ambience. but the food is AWESOME. if your looking for a junk food fix- have the gyros with cucumber sauce, we also love deep fried mushrooms and onion rings. dog stop has pleasant staff and reasonable prices for the huge portions. we love dog stop so much that we make it a family field trip to go back. read more

We decided to drop in here today because it was getting time to eat. We weren't around any place that we really wanted to eat at, so I said, "Let's go try this place, so we won't have to come here again." I was thinking that the food was going to be garbage and that we would never go back. Well, don't judge a book by its cover. We loved the chili and soup. In addition, we had a great gyros sandwich. I've been stopping here for quick, cheap eats on and off for years. It's a pretty typical fast-food, burger/dogs/gyros place. I'm aware of the issues they had a few years ago, but it doesn't seem any different cleanliness-wise from dozens of other similar places in the city. For what it is, the food is tastier and better prepared than most, not as good as some. The reason I give it four stars is because, without exception, every time I've been here the people behind the counter have been genuinely polite, cheerful and attentive without being phony. I get the sense that the people who work here enjoy what they're doing, and truly seem to appreciate their customers. I can get a good gyros at dozens of places in the area, but I find myself at Dog Stop more often than not because of the people there. read more

Only two trips in, but I'm still confident on 4 stars at least. The Italian beef was just so-so - but came dipped by default, which shows they know what they're doing. The dog stop is a decent meal easy to find and the food is great. You cannot go wrong getting a burger or hot dog with fries. If you get cheese on the side make sure you get it because they tend to forget at times. What brings me back is that it stays open late but it is a little on the expensive side. read more

I really want to like this place but it is always terrible food and service. I live just steps away from this place and avoid it at all cost! The food is at best mediocre and it seems the cashier is always a little confused. I give it a chance every 3 months or so and it is always dissapointing.
