I love the $5.00 gyros on Tuesdays too. Loaded with meat! Service is phenomenal. The girl behind the counter is the sweetest and kindest, every single time! Every time I call it's quick and easy order taking. 15 min later I go in and pick up and everyone is so kind and says hi. I've been meaning to update this review. This place is under new ownership for a while now. The new desk clerk is genuinely pleasant in person and over the phone. We always do carry out but this place is always very clean. Prices went up a little--but what hasn't. We order here at least once a week. Whatever you do, don't eat any Pork products from this joint!! We got the pork Shish ka bobs last Saturday which made us both quite sick overnight. I had explosive diarrhea, and she had projectile vomiting within 10 hours of eating this crap. I've been an on and off customer of Wilbers / Tom & Jerry for over 2 decades and this is first time I got sick. Honestly, I don't know if it was E. coli or some type of food poisoning. Anyway, after I recovered, I called around noon on Monday to inform the manager of my plight. Needless to say, he was very rude, combative and refused to take any responsibility for selling tainted food. I've eaten at Tom&Jerry's for years. I always thought it was pretty decent for being a fast food place but since it changed ownership it's changed for the worse. I won't eat gyros there anymore because it has no taste and is significantly smaller than it used to be, and more $. Today I got a puzza puff and never heard of the brand before. It's $6 I think you can afford Italco like the rest of Chicago! Because I never heard of the brand I searched it and found they were sued by Italco in 2018 for knocking off the pizza puff. Okay, their gyros are amazing. If that's all you read, you're golden! There was so. much. meat. And it was so flavorful and juicy. I do wish there was more tzatziki, but that was a simple fix, and I'll just request some extra on the side next time! You can order a meal with a side and drink for about $10, which I thought was great because I split it into two meals for myself! My husband got Italian beef and was VERY jealous of my gyro. Food has always been pretty good for the most part however I can no longer deal with how they operate their business hours. I called to ask what time they were open until a few weeks ago and was told by a female that picked up the phone that she wasn't exactly sure on what time they were closing, and that it may be 8 PM. Then I called last night as I wanted to place an order to go. I was immediately greeted when the female picked up and said, "Tom & Jerry's we're closed. The neon light above their doors were on to Open and it was 8:30 PM when their hours are listed as 9 PM. What? If you plan to order food from you I would say it's best to call and see what their hours are for that day since apparently they don't know themselves. Just stopped in to grab a bite tonight and when I walked in the girl behind the counter was busy on the phone. The phone was ringing while she was on another line and she was pretty busy. She took a couple of seconds to acknowledge me and let me know if she would be with me in just a minute. while I was waiting, the cook was kind enough to get my order started. After only a couple of minutes, the girl at the counter took my order and was very nice and appreciative that I waited patiently. My food was served up to me pretty quickly and I grabbed it and headed home. Food was as good as it always is but the service is the reason for my review. So happy they got their own location. I used to always order from inside the Hip mall (food court) because their fries were crunchy ! I don't know if it's because the place is new or what but everything is very organized and clean. The chairs / booths and decor is spot on. Done with these guys,Wayyyy too many chances. ALWAYS missing something in our order and then this last time The Cooks get mad they messed up and to be spiteful throw 10 sport peppers in the hotdog they forgot, a bunch of relish and a smashed hot dog bun. My daughter told them very politely they forgot several items in our order. Because when we order its over $100 every time! Let me tell you, the staff here were the most support and accommodating staff who recognized the needs of a stressed-out graduate student. They do have an extensive menu that is displayed overhead the cashier, and I wasn't the only one who entered and was unsure of what to order. They have sandwiches, soup, Mediterranean-style platters, salads, and more. I ordered the Garden salad topped with Gyros. Mmm the salad was very fresh with romaine lettuce, cucumber, pickled pepper, and the gyros were very thinly sliced and flavorful. The gyros were slightly dry, but that is to be expected when they are sliced that thinly. I stayed here to do some work on a video conference call, and the staff were so nice and even asked if I needed anything else with my meal. This is an update from a previous review. Since then I've stopped in a couple of times and the food was excellent. They have a good deal on combos, and Greek Specialties that are delicious. The menu is fairly extensive, but I usually stick with the Shiska-bobs, Gyros, Philly Grinder, and Spinach Pies. The restaurant is clean and comfortable and the food is prepared fresh to order. I have ordered delivery a few times and both the food and the blonde gentleman who delivered it were absolutely sensational! I thought I had found a new favorite until I encountered the woman at the counter. She was rude on the phone and even worse in person. Not only did she fail to wear her mask properly at a time when it is so essential, but she treated me as such a burden.
