Ground Pepperoni with spicy sauce is what makes these the best Pepperoni rolls around
    Steve M.

The Donut shop has Good donuts but they have the best pepperoni rolls. I have had pepperoni rolls from "Weirton to Welch, from Martinsburg to Matewan, and all points in-between", and the Donut shop of Buckhannon clearly has the best pepperoni rolls around. What makes these the best is the roll is chock full of spicy ground pepperoni, so you get a mouth full of the wonderful spicy meat with every bite, and not just a taste you get with the 2 stick way more bread than meat roll

So glad that ParMar Stores re-opened The Donut Spot. Place is super clean, food is fresh & tasty and the staff is one of the nicest around. I highly recommend !

Everything you ever wanted in a great donut shop. If you're in the area more than one day stop in early and often. The staff are all so helpful in assisting you to make just the right choice. The best raised donuts are handmade on site. Ask for a warmed up blueberry donut. It is divine. If you've never had a pepperoni roll, this is a great spot for your first one.

First time here & I am So Happy I tried The Donut Shop!! I told my dad I wanted donuts & we drove thru here mid-morning on a weekday - there were lots of choices still available *much appreciated* So I picked 7 for The Family: Blueberry Cake (for me) - I love the density of cake donuts & this one has Great Flavor, blueberry bits, & a nice light glaze! Apple Fritter (for mom) - My mom Loved this Apple Fritter & she's very picky about her fritters! The chunks of apple & cinnamon spice were good! It was Also The Largest of the group (a solid win for my mom)! German Chocolate (for dad) - Another cake option, the chocolate was sweet & the coconut was fresh & added some crunch! Vanilla Iced w/Sprinkles (for son) - The softness of this yeast donut was just what my son likes & the sprinkles & white frosting was the perfect sugar high for my 8yr old! Boston Cream - This filled yeast donut had a lot of cream in it (perfect!!) Lemon - the filling was Super Tart, which I Loved! Peanut Butter Delight (most popular) - I was told this was the post popular donut at The Donut Shop & My Family Agrees! We split it into 4 pieces and.....ate it Immediately- lol the chocolate was gooey & the peanut butter smooth! We are in Philippi, but when we travel to Buckhannon, we will Definitely stop by *The Donut Shop* again! *Also, I have to say the Price Point is Amazing! I'm from Chicago, where 7 hand-made donuts cost anywhere from $13-19, so to have 7 for under $9 is Such a Deal!!!

The shop was very clean and smelled delicious the moment you walk through the door. The lady working the counter greeted me the moment I walked in. I told her it was my first time visiting, and she welcomed me, asking if I had any questions. I asked for her recommendations, and she gave me a few of her favorites. I will be very honest, I am typically a Krispy Kreme or Country Style Donuts kind of guy. I don't step outside of those realms. I am very particular about my donuts. However, I am so glad I stopped by here. I ordered the Raspberry Truffle and Blueberry Cheesecake (I think). The donut was very, how do I describe the texture, it was a cake-like donut. Very fine and crumbly texture. It literally melts in your mouth. I wasn't a fan of the icing on the Blueberry Cheesecake; however, the Raspberry Truffle's toppings were absolutely delicious. Although I didn't like the icing on the Blueberry Cheesecake donut, the donut itself was absolutely delicious, which is the reason this rating remains five stars. I would absolutely recommend this place, and if I'm ever in the area, I'll be back for sure! Head over to the website, the pictures of the donuts are literally how the donuts looked in person!

Everything we tried was soft, fresh, and flavorful without being overly sweet, which I really appreciated. You can tell this is the kind of place that's been doing things the same (and doing them well) for a long time. The prices were also surprisingly great, and had they been listed, I would have purchased a lot more. It's a small, old-school bakery that's clearly been a local favorite for generations, and that charm is part of what makes it special. That said, as first-time visitors, it was a little tough to navigate. Nothing is labeled, no menu, no prices, so we had to ask a few questions and rely on recommendations. Maybe it was just a busy Saturday morning, but the young woman helping us didn't seem thrilled that I was taking photos and asking about the pastries. I get that most of their customers are probably regulars who already know what they want, but for those of us just passing through, a little guidance (and patience) would go a long way. Even with that experience, I'd still recommend stopping by. The pastries really are that good, the prices are fair, and it's the kind of nostalgic, old fashioned bakery that's getting harder to find these days.

We had just walked around Valley Falls Park (20 minutes away), and the West Virginians in our group told us that we HAD TO go to Poky Dot for lunch as our 18-month-old granddaughter would surely enjoy the atmosphere. Poky Dot is far more than an ice cream shop, though it's that as well. Our hungry group wanted lunch, and the 50s-style diner did not disappoint! Their food menu is extensive and includes breakfast items, all-day omelets and Benedicts, stacked breakfast sandwiches, munchies (wings, quesadillas, nachos, tater tots), salads, burgers, wraps, croissant sandwiches, hot dogs, big bites, super suppers, soups, and more. Surprisingly, given the diversity of options, four of the five adults in our group ordered burgers (or similar) -- (1) my choice was the Raspberry Kiss Burger ($12.99), which I split with my husband. (Our rating: 5/5). The burger was topped with Swiss cheese, bacon, spring mix, and an amazing raspberry chipotle sauce. I selected the Mac N Cheese as my side. The food was tasty and fresh, the burger was cooked as we like it done, and the quantity was generous. (2) my husband ordered the Cowboy Burger ($13.99), which we also split. (Our joint rating: 4/5). Per the menu, this burger features mushrooms, onions, BBQ sauce, and Swiss cheese -- and topped with a jumbo onion ring. For his side, my husband selected (more) onion rings. Unfortunately, they were out of onion rings, so his burger didn't have the onion ring and he substituted French fries for his side. Overall, the burger was tasty, fresh, and cooked well. However, both of us preferred the raspberry chipotle that was on my burger, and his burger was light on the mushrooms for our tastes. The fries were also weren't crisp. Burger #3 was an Original Poky ($10.99), served with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles, served with French fries. (Rating: 4/5. The eater found it a bit dry without a sauce on it; fries also not crispy). #4 was the Giovanni ($12.99) from the Big Bites Menu. The Giovanni is half-a-pound of Angus beef, topped with American and provolone cheese and Oliverio peppers, and served on Texas Toast. All Big Bites are served with French fries. The eater rated this dish as 3.5/5, being disappointed that the toast was too small given the size of its meat and peppers topping. Finally, the 5th adult ordered the Chicken Alfredo ($14.99), their fresh grilled chicken served over spaghetti, with their homemade Alfredo sauce. She also got green beans for a side dish. (Not sure of the eater's rating). While the restaurant has a Kids Menu, we brought along cheese, fruit, and other snacks for the baby to happily munch on. Dessert. I'm not sure where to start about the desserts. To say that they're over-the-top is an understatement! Imagine that a single scoop of ice cream weighs one pound. Or that the menu offers a sundae that features 16 scoops of ice cream! We were all quite full but decided that we needed to share some type of dessert. The winner was the Cookie Shake ($14.99), served in a 32-ounce mason jar with your choice of vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry ice cream, topped with a Fudge Round, Nutter Butter, Nutty Buddy, chocolate chip cookie, crushed Oreo's, whipped cream, sprinkles, and a cherry on top. The adults in the group averaged to a 4/5 rating, with some feeling that the shake could've been thicker and/or had some cookie or candy add-ins. The toddler though rated it 10/5! The ambiance (5/5) is quirky and fun, with bright colors everywhere, fun booths to sit in, and fun wallpaper in the restaurant AND in the restrooms. It's worth a visit if only to see the atmosphere. Service (5/5). Our waitress was attentive and friendly, with exactly the personality needed for this environment. Parking was easy and free, just off Fairmont Avenue. All told, our overall rating is closer to 4.5, but I'm rounding it up to 5.0 because it was a fun experience, the food and milkshake were good, and the waitress was attentive. I wish that this restaurant were closer to home!
