I really don't like leaving negative reviews, and I always prefer to form my own opinion rather than rely solely on other reviews. Unfortunately, in this case, I wish I had paid more attention to the feedback I read beforehand. The restaurant itself is very nice inside and has a pleasant atmosphere. However, the service was lacking during our visit. I ordered a mango margarita, and my husband ordered a beer. Both drinks sat at the bar for several minutes before being brought to our table, despite being ready. The mango margarita was not good at all. I didn't complain and did finish it, but I would definitely not order it again. For my meal, I had the Drake's Bourbon Burger with a side salad instead of fries. The burger wasn't terrible, but it wasn't particularly memorable either. It was a bit dry, although the sauce and bun were both good. Overall, I can't recommend this restaurant based on our experience, but I also wouldn't call it the worst place I've ever eaten. There were some positives, but not enough for me to return. read more

My brother and I visited The Drake Tavern after a very long day. At the host stand, we were given the option of sitting on the patio or outside and elected to sit inside. We were quickly greeted by our server, Gia. We started off with an appetizer of the buffalo fried cauliflower bites. I am not typically a cauliflower fan, but the sauce was great and the fry job was on point. For my meal, I went with the shrimp tacos. My brother opted for the deep purple salad. He asked Gia about the raspberry vinaigrette and she provided an enthusiastic and glowing review of it. We were both very happy with our meals and my brother quite enjoyed the raspberry vinaigrette as well. I will be back if I ever find myself in Jenkintown again. read more

Everything I've eaten here is delicious! I highly recommend the brisket sandwich. My favorite thing on the menu is the onion rings. They don't fall apart when you bite into them. I came here last night with my family and we ordered a variety of dishes. I had the honey teriyaki salmon with a side of barbecue wings, my husband got the barbecue chicken salad, and my mother-in-law had a burger. Overall, the food was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meals -- except for the wings. Since it was Tuesday, they were on the half-price wing special, but they were extremely overcooked, tough, and honestly tasted like leftovers. That was a real disappointment given how good everything else was. Another issue I noticed was in the restroom. Instead of the toilet paper being stocked in the holder, the large rolls were sitting on the back of the toilet, which felt pretty unsanitary. Having to reach behind to grab and unravel a roll that's been handled by many people (and sitting right by the toilet) was off-putting. So while the main dishes were great, I'd caution anyone coming on wing night and hope management takes a closer look at both the wing prep and the restroom setup. read more

Irish Pub style neighborhood spot. The Happy Hour menu was decent, we split an order of the loaded fries which were half off the regular price and more than enough for us to share. The margarita I had left much to be desired. At this point in the game if you're still using a sweet and sour mix, probably Daly's, then your drink is not going to measure up. I would probably stick to beer or wine. The burger and onion rings were pretty damn good. We had the Captain Morgan and it was juicy and delicious. I would try other things on their menu. I'd been to the Drake once before, and had the burger, but didn't get an opportunity to write a review. Well, I returned recently, but didn't have the burger. I would like to say, the burger I had on my first visit was very good, and that will be taken into consideration for this review. I love spanakopita - I used to frequent a cafeteria in DC, a few blocks from where I worked (17th and L). They made the spinach pie daily - it is still the best pie I've had. I had recently had a burger, which is why I didn't order one at he Drake. Looking over the menu, I was surprised to see Spinach Pie. I wasn't expecting to get an entree like that at this restaurant, but I decided I would go for it. It wasn't the typical square piece of spanakopita, cut from a casserole, you would expect. It was a triangular shaped folded pastry, filled with spinach and feta. The picture reflects the filo pastry crust was a little too dark, it was baked a little too long, and parts were too crispy. However, underneath that first thin shell was a flaky, tasty pie crust. The spinach-feta filling was delicious and flavored just right - there was plenty of it inside the pie. It came with a Greek salad, which was also tasty. Adding together the burger on my first visit and the pie on my second, the Drake will be a ' tavern' I'll be going back to. read more

While the Drake definitely gave off vibes somewhere between irish pub and dive bar, the food was decent and the service was ok. We went on trivia night by coincidence, which looks to be a good time, so the place was close to packed. I really wish this place had better food, because I like dark vaguely Irish American pubs and the atmosphere is always fun. The problem is that they're verging on gastropub prices for what is only slightly better than dive bar food. We went last night with our kids and had. Buffalo wings: At around $17, I had high hopes, but these were overcooked and way, way too salty (and I like salt). A bourbon burger: This was a big burger but not a good burger. I ordered it rare. I have never once had a properly cooked burger here. This one came out medium and on the tough side. It was drenched in a thin BBQ sauce that had soaked through the bun by the time it was served. I did not taste the alleged bourbon. The menu didn't say it came with lettuce, so I had to scrape off some BBQ drenched shreds of iceberg. I hate shredded iceberg lettuce. This just was not a $19 burger. Fries were very good, but the portion was minuscule because they insist on serving them in a little metal cup to look fancy or something. The side of fries my daughter got with her kids meal was bigger than mine because there was no silly metal cup. Corn beef and cabbage special: It doesn't seem fair to say that corned beef and cabbage is visually unappealing, but this one was shockingly unappealing. I didn't taste it but my wife said it tasted strange. Kids Mac and cheese: The unexpected star of the entrees. Very solid Mac and cheese. Dessert: We got two brownie Sundaes that were big and delicious. No complaints. Drinks: I had a few rum and cokes, all of which were weak. C'mon guys. I'm at a bar with mediocre food. At least give me a buzz. Service: Our waiter was nice but for the second time I've been there the waiter was also assisting at the host stand, which slowed things down. Value: Two entrees, one appetizer, one kids meal, a side of fries, 4 alcoholic beverages, two sodas, two desserts, and tip came to $150. It's just too expensive for what it is. It's close to me and it's a good place to catch a game so I'll probably be back but I really wish they'd either up their food game or drop prices by like 20% to be more commensurate with the value. read more

Food was excellent. My wife had sheppards Pie and I had traditional Turkey dinner. Ordered a draft dark beer and waited over 1/2 hour. Finally stopped our waiter and was told the keg was out. Offered a Guinness bottle. OK but not what I wanted. That took another 15 minutes. Bear in mind the bar was 15 ft from our table. Got somewhat of an apology. Thought they should have comped my beer. We will go back and try again. Got a response today. Apparently they really don't care about customer's opinions. Waiting 1/2 hour for a house specialty draft beer and another 15 minutes for a bottled beer is acceptable without an explanation or apology. Certainly not in my opinion. I place equal blame on management and server. Server got the customary 20% tip even though he really didn't earn it. Definitely won't return. Meh. It's your average American style pub, even though they say it's an 'Irish Pub'. There's $5 mojitos daily, so that's a plus I guess. They also have a decent selection of beers both in bottles and on tap. I was not overly impressed with the food, but it's edible. It's definitely not the best brunch in Jenkintown, which they claim in their advertising. The interior is a bit dated, which is fine, but when I was there they had the music on blast in the middle of the day, making it hard to have a relaxing brunch. It was honestly really annoying. Probably not bad to pick up a drink here, but not really my cup of tea for a full meal. It's fine though. read more

I've only been here a handful of times and prior to my visit yesterday, it had probably been at least 5 or 6 years. I know The Drake is pretty popular locally but in my book it's nothing special. Service was quick, but felt very rushed even though the restaurant wasn't busy at all. Felt like our waitress was dumping our drinks and food at us/the table so quickly they barely balanced and almost fell over each time she brought something over. Also, the two person high top tables are SO TINY, no space for dishes and cups. We felt very cramped and uncomfortable. The food was good but a little pricey if you ask me. For what we spent on two burgers, and a side of mozzarella sticks, we could have eaten at the Cheesecake Factory or somewhere more upscale. AND, they charge for drink refills. Who does that in 2022??? Lol. The soft drink and iced tea cups are tiny to begin with, AND they charge $2.99 for each refill on basic non alcoholic drinks?? Surprised to see that on our check. Anyway, don't think we'll be returning anytime soon, there are other local places with food that's similar and a more pleasant environment and pricing. read more

This is my second time at Drake, but we haven't been here for years. Food took forever to come out. We watched tables get food in pieces (one or two get food, a few minutes later another item). The food runner was super kind and apologized for the delay in food. It was 2:30 on a Saturday and there wasn't a large crowd. Went back as always to our amazing Drakes for a gathering of family last Saturday. As always Drakes staff, food and atmosphere never fails us! We love our waitress Michelle as she makes sure that we want for nothing while we are there as do all the staff! They make you feel right at home and like family. The Ahi Tuna is so fresh and great for my life that yes, I ordered a second helping. I convinced some family to not knock it and try it. They did and let's just say that's why I had to order another plate. I also had the bourbon burger which was cooked just the way I like it. In watching the family dine they absolutely enjoyed their food as well. The drinks are great and they also know how we like our Long Island iced teas ... no coke but pineapple juice instead. Perfect every time. Extra special thanks to the bartender. We thought that maybe since we came in a pack of 11 it may be hectic but nope, not at all. Our orders we right , exceptional and couldn't have asked for a better evening. If in the area or not as I've stated before in prior reviews, a definite check out for dining. But you don't have to take me word for it.. yes you do lol... I've seen other reviews and I know everyone can't be happy all the time but we darn sure are every time we dine there. Look our waiter honestly sucked older white guy and food was pretty disappointing. Chicken fingers were super greasy and over cooked. My wife's crabcake was sooo salty she couldn't eat it. So The Drake Tavern is a pleasant restaurant. Unfortunately for the second time in a row, my party was seated at a table and they couldn't decide who was our designated server. Luckily a server volunteered. Once she got started, she did a fantastic job. Our alcoholic beverages....ice tea were very weak, tasted more like flat soda. We returned it to the bar and requested a replacement. The next set weren't much better. The nachos were simply amazing!! Honestly it's the best dish I have had there. Seriously it's a mound of cheesy deliciousness. Sorry no pic. Other dishes/ entrees are just okay. I will definitely be back and hopefully they will have their serving stations worked out. Great lunch at Drake Tavern! I ordered the turkey club sandwich and soup combo from the menu featuring lunch hour specials. The turkey club comes with lettuce, tomato, bacon and turkey breast on rye bread. It was fresh and tasty. The soup was split pea soup, the soup of the day. I've only had pea soup a few times ever, so I was unsure what to expect. To my surprise, this soup was good. It was more creamy than loose, with seemingly house-made croutons atop. I've never had those croutons before, they certainly weren't the grocery store kind. The croutons paired well the soup; it definitely added to the "mmmhmm" factor. The service was super friendly. The one particular lady who seated us was so friendly and funny. It definitely makes a difference when you know how to take care of your patrons. They have outdoor, indoor and patio seating. My grandson came home with a pizza box. He and his dad stopped to get him something to eat. Pizza is his favorite and tacos! He had only eaten one slice and asked that I put the rest away. I was absolutely horrified. It was over cooked. Little to no cheese and tasted like it sat on the counter for a few days. What the heck happened?!
