Came here Sunday to watch some football. We were not disappointed! They have 6 TV's and a large drop down screen! Perfect place to watch sports! Big shout out to Eric the bartender! Great spot to catch a game with a burger. The setup here is exactly what I ask out of a sports bar -- basically every seat has a decent sightline to 1-2 different TVs, which makes viewing a game while still interacting with the people you're with easy. On top of that, the burger they serve is enormous and absolutely delicious (thin fast-food style patties, and definitely opt for the American cheese and substantial bacon add-ons), with a huge portion of well-cooked fries. The only drawback might be that the beer selection is solid but nothing special (maybe one rotating tap along with good standbys like Guinness, Six Point Sweet Action, Bell's Two Hearted, etc. I feel like I've been seeing the same assortment of bottles and drafts at a bunch of bars for the past year or so, which is nothing to complain about unless you're feeling like something new.) The service is friendly. There are some huge booth tables in the back which look like they can accommodate substantially sized groups. When we first got there, we were confused as to where to go because there is no hostess or even anyone to point us in the direction we should go. The place was packed and we waited for a table for about 45 minutes (when a waitress had told us 10 minutes). When we finally got a table, we were rudely interrupted by that same waitress (who told us there was a 10 minute wait) and were told that table was reserved. She had an attitude problem and started arguing with one of my friends. She was being rude on purpose and looked like she was trying so hard to contain her laughter due to the fact we waited so long for a reserved table. THANKS FOR TELLING US. Nonetheless, we got a table minutes after we left that one. The food was good but it made me full really quick due to the excessive amount of oil in it. I got the roast pork sandwich and I could see the oil on my plate, which is unpleasant. The hand-cut fries are nicely salted and delicious. Service was friendly, minus that one extremely rude waitress. Ambience was that of a dive bar. Overall, it has the works of being a nice bar. There are many things to love about the Dram Shop but youre probably busy so I'll keep it brief. Top 6 reasons why you should go: 1) (incredibly!) reasonably priced bottles of beer in Park Slope. They dont have the most exotic beers on deck but (speaking only for myself) I dont need to drink a $15 pint of beer brewed in a casque of 10 year aged wine under a full Australian moon. Red Stripe for $4 is gucci for me. 2) Before a certain hour (9:30pm i want to say?) you can bring your kids into the bar. Enjoy a meal and a beer and watch the game while your kids spend your laundry quarters on ski ball and whatever shoot em up arcade game they have. Which brings me to points 3-5: 3) Great bar food. These folks can grill a burger and fry the hell outta a potato. Just delicious salty, greasy, food. Burgers, wings, nachos, quesadillas. Good stuff 4) TVs along every wall and every seat in the house is either facing one or in the eyeline of one. You literally cannot NOT watch sports. (My bf got mad at me because i kept calling every white guy on the basketball court Kevin Love but thats the most I have ever paid attention to basketball bc it was literally RIGHT IN MY FACE everywhere i turned. I am definitely a fan. Been here a few times and have had consistently good experiences! It's partially the atmosphere Dram Shop sets up and as long as you're with good company, guaranteed fun! Came a few Sundays ago to watch football with a couple of friends. My boyfriend lives pretty close so he comes by often and he's always had great experiences here. It was my first time and to be honest, the service was HORRIBLE. I understand there are a lot of people especially on a Sunday watching football, but there needs to be more than one server in that case. I had a group of 6 people and we ordered a few drinks. It took a while for us to get the drinks or even a menu. After receiving our drinks, it took another 15 minutes to get the server to get us a few menus for food. My boyfriend ordered the fried chicken sandwich as a melt and she got the order wrong so it had to go back into the kitchen. We asked for utensils that never came. Once the orders were corrected, the food actually was delicious, hence the 4 stars. You NEED to order the fried chicken sandwich as a melt on sourdough bread. Add the coleslaw on top and yum. It tastes amazing. We also ordered the ball park nachos with pork. It tastes like turkey, but no other complaints. I liked the atmosphere of Dram Shop. Not really sure what's happened to the dram lately. Going to school in park slope caused most of us, now old enough to drink to go to the dram. Good food and games, sounds perfect. But that was months if not a year ago. It was so popular amongst our friends we even decided to go to the dram after our wedding to get drinks! BUTTTTT lately it's been slacking in food quality and service. Service has been rude and unprofessional. And most of the good stuff to eat was changed or taken off the menu. As a girl I've never really liked the stares I've gotten from the cooks when going down the stairs to the restroom. Definitely have had moments of not feeling safe, even if just stares. Close proximity (couple blocks) away from the MTA transit stop at 4th/9th St, makes this an obvious and natural choice to spend a few hours with drinks 'n' eats and quiet conversation. The bar itself is not all that easy to spot; there's no neon signage or blinking logo. It's just a strange/quaint medieval-style large oaken door set into a bare white wall. 9th street itself is a wide, double-lane street where buses roar up and down; and nearby there's rather bland, bright, utilitarian chain stores like pharmacies, insurance, lube shops. So, it's not particularly a part of the neighborhood which possesses any real ...local 'pizazz'. (This could help or hurt the bar depending on how you look at it). Anyway, enter. Surprisingly, the interior is quite 'posh', 'appointed', and upscale for an alleged 'pub'. Not sure how to convey what I mean here; but its the kind of rarefied, natty, color-coordinated interior full of seductively cozy wooden booths that you can find all over the city. It's certainly pleasant, but just kind of 'cookie-cutter' at the same time. Oh well. Subdued lighting, high ceiling, meticulous plaster, good acoustics. And all the wood matches, no one's initials are cut with a pocketknife, all the furniture edges are beveled and polished and smooth and gentled. The seats all match too; comfy leather cushions with no tears or rips. All the better to cradle the soft round bottoms of Park Slope females. You will see gay & lesbian couples here, older married couples, and duos of gal-pals having a night of girl-gab. The crowd definitely swells to fill the room and empty seats disappear fast. Plenty of retail drones rubbing elbows with faux, no-longer-ghetto blacks. You will see plenty of hetero couples meeting up for a first-date (fumbling clumsily for suave conversation skills they've lost with the advent of the smartphone). Some single chicks, or groups of friends here to yuk-it-up over a silly game of shuffleboard, pool, Buck Hunter, or skee-ball. But there's no one eating or drinking here with all that much personality. More like nerveless, IT-department slugs, & software salesmen. All I'm trying to say is that, as 'comfortable' and 'snug' as this bar is..the crowd is a tad boring. The underlying vibe of the bar too, feels like a hotel lobby. Nothing particularly to look at, ponder over, or be amused by. No history, no artwork, no kitsch, no kooky gimgaws or baubles, no bric-a-brac hanging anywhere; no risque' French posters..just some rather safe, photographic prints on the wall. So when you hang out here, you better bring a magazine or some knitting or something else to keep you company. Overall, I can't find any fault at all with the food operation. These are reliable, quality eats. Menu: standard contemporary pub-grub like wings, chicken strips, chicken club sammy, fried mac'n'cheese. The kitchen seems competently run and the plates arrive fast. Some attractive discounted weekly specials too--burger deals, etc. Bar: enough basic variety to suit any preference. 2-3 brands of any style liquor, wine, or beer you might desire. Prices are fairly standard, no outrages. Is it an Irish pub? Only slightly. The barest hint of Irishness, such as the presence of malt vinegar in the condiment caddy. You put malt vinegar on your shoestring fries when you order your burger. I ordered a burger myself and found it ~excellent~. Toppings very fresh and crisp. Juicy. Made with care and attention to detail and presentation. Very sizeable in the hand. Classic, soft, seeded bun (very glad to see that, instead of the current trend in brioche buns). In sum? This is a very decent, dependable contemporary pub. If I could change one thing it would be the music. I really don't know what to advise though, because a jukebox would ruin the carefully-controlled ambience. But what management chooses to play over the speakers would like to put you asleep. Oh to live in Park Slope and come to this wonderful place for happy hour each night. I've made a few stops here whenever I'm in the city, and I fail to be disappointed. The food is top-notch and the drinks are reasonably priced, especially during happy hour. Try the sliders, or hit them up on a wine night. There's lots of fun to be had as well, with a pool table, shuffle board and foosball. On an odd note, the bathroom is not segregated between men and women. The ambiance was pretty great so I figured it's going to be pricey. I was pleasantly surprised when the bartender said $9 for the three beers we ordered. Nice happy hour surprise. They have a couple of tv's up behind the bar that were showing sports. The bartenders were very nice and told me about and let me sample a few beers before I ordered. I was there with friends watching the World Cup between Italy and England. The ambiance was great and the crowd were great as well. This is a great place to watch soccer as it has many tv's around it and the location of the tv's are ubiquitous. It has a backyard that you can sit and enjoy the weather. However, the backyard does not have a TV, but is ok because you can enjoy quietly and away from all the inside noise and maybe have a separate hangout to what is going on inside the bar. The place has some table games like jenga, board games, and others. I didn't pay too much attention nor I checked out the available games that they have because I was too focused into the soccer game. Deeply disappointed, There was no where for me and my family to sit. We patiently waited at the bar till a table was available. Sometime had passed by so we ordered some food at the bar. Once a table opened up we asked if me and my family could move into the booth, when we were rudley told by the waitress that it wasn't a option because "we would be taking a table and she wouldn't get a tip" so we had to remain at the bar with 4 plates of food huddled on the corner of the bar. It was happenin': music blaring through the speakers, inebriated and sober people alike enjoying themselves with food and alcohol, and an intense pool game with a horde of frat boys was under way in the back. The waitstaff was unfortunately incredibly overwhelmed, but despite their understaffing, our waiter was quick, efficient, and friendly. I had a Dark and Stormy, which was stormier than it was dark, but still darn good. The fried chicken sandwich is a fantastic alternative if you're not necessarily in the mood for beef, but FUN FACT: burgers are half-off on Tuesday nights - get 'em while they're hot and cheap. So incredibly disappointed with what has happened to this place over the last few years. The menu has changed and removed just about all of their best items. The service has become downright terrible and rude. I used to be a regular, literally at least once a week for years and years. Now I haven't been in months. I sometimes still think about going, but I can't convince myself it's worth it anymore. And the worst of all? The burger! Oh, my beloved Dram Shop burger! I used to rave to everyone that you were the best in all of NYC. I have brought groups of 12 here, just so everyone could eat the burger. Everyone used to agree: This burger was amazing. Alas, not anymore. The beef is now flavorless, the lettuce is always so wet it gets the bun all soggy. The tomatoes are almost white, even when they're supposed to be in-season. The outside of this restaurant has nothing aesthetic to offer, however, I've been taught to not judge a book by its cover. I've only sat near the front door of the restaurant, so I'm not sure what they have going on in the back but it always seems full. I primarily come here to watch games or to get a late night meal when most restaurants are already closed in the sleepy Park Slope area.
