Westbury Inn is a great place, located in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens that is not fancy, a basic neighborhood bar that a gem in a rapidly changing area that's becoming full of niche places. Westbury has a great wide open space (and backyard) that's conducive to watching sports as there are several TVs in the area. A strong Knicks contingent comes here to watch the games as well as follow the Jets and Giants. Drinks are moderately prices and served well by the bartenders. No fancy cocktails hete, but great drinks and a wide selection of beers. The food has recently been revamped and is excellent, served by Jess who quickly serves up tasty burgers, crispy chicken and great sides such as fries and tenders. It is a great compliment to the drink menu and one of the few places in the area where one can have a few drinks, eat some food, and watch the games without breaking the bank . So - they did not exactly put much effort into the decor or vibe here. It's literally just painted new sheetrock, with several things nailed to the wall. The music is also nondescript & had no flavor. This is Flatbush - unless there is a very good reason, you should be playing REALLY loud reggae or soca/calypso. That being said & out of the way: they have 2 massive things going for them: 1. Theirs are now amongst the VERY best Buffalo wings in Brooklyn. 2. Their kitchen is open until ONE AM on weekdays - making this one of the VERY few places that you can sit at the bar, & have a late dinner & a festive / relaxing beverage between prospect park & kings plaza. Midwood Flats kitchen is also open late, but they apparently are closed on Mondays, & Westbury is open. Been on a mad hunt looking for a sports bar in Flatbush. I just moved to Brooklyn from Harlem. And always had a ton of options for sports bar - Harlem Hops, Harlem Tavern, Cantina. First off, It's my go to dive bar in the middle of Flatbush. So I am rating it based on dive bar expectations. Lots of board games to pass the time. Whatever the sport is for the night is usually playing on the TVs. Most of the patrons are from the neighborhood and know the bartenders on a first name basis. Will is the man that keeps the machine moving, get in with him and your night will be grande. The kitchen isn't exactly ran by the bar, it operates within the bar. As of this review, the cook is on point and all the food options are above average. There is a backyard with bench tables and chairs for those that wish to partake in a smoke without being on the avenue. Oh one more thing, cognacs are extremely limited in here. My friend and I stopped by Westbury Inn this past Wednesday for a light. Yes, "a light" so we could smoke outside before departing each other's company. We targeted Westbury because it was super close, a sure bet since it capitalizes off of smokers w its trashy lil backyard, and we like one of the bartenders, Jeffrey, who we knew worked Wednesdays. Instead of being met w the nonchalance appropriate for such an inoffensive request, we were met w passive aggressive shade poorly served by the barback or bartender working (not Jeff). His brilliant suggestion of going to a bodega instead was trite, unnecessary, and unwelcoming. People smoke in front and in back of Westbury ALL THE TIME. A request for a light is harmless and hardly disruptive to its clientele. Westbury you aren't Ruth's...and, it was just a f-ing light! I'm admittedly not a regular here and, after this final straw, never will be. I forgave the ridiculously long wait for an order of 2 fries and wings when there were no other food orders, I forgave the even more ridiculous surcharge for takeout orders, I forgave the fact you don't have salt & pepper because your shakers were stolen and ownership decided not to replace them (as told to me by a staff member), and the terrible inconsistency of the food. What I won't forgive though is the WHOLLY UNWARRANTED passive aggressiveness of your staff. The environment cultivated and unbearable stench of unwashed basement bros seals the deal for me. This place is super casual. And will be your neighborhood bar. Great drinks. Friendly bartenders [Say Hi to Frank!]. And good people. Tuesday's gets wild. That's their Karaoke night and people belt it out in there. Sometimes, I feel like I'm sitting in the audience of an American Idol elimination round. Ha! There's no bells and whistles. They have a selection of beers, a few wines, and a plethora of spirits to wet ya whistle. So whistle! Anywho, the menu is West Indian inspired so definitely try the jerk wings, the bake and shark, among the other items on the menu. Don't worry if that's not your scene. They have burgers, fries and tots! And a bunch of other things so it's okay to go with an appetite. This bar is fun alone, with friends, or anyone whose down to have a good time. There's usually a DJ on Fridays and probably Saturdays. Very casual. Go as are. Come as you. Leave a little wobbly and a lot happy. This was literally my second home. I feel slightly out of place their now since its gotten so popular. I am super happy for their success but recently I've been frequenting some other bars in the area. It's definitely a place to meet strangers, make friends, and even step outside into their backyard area for some fresh air. It's a nice big place. Filled with lots of great people. Make a friend. I honestly feel bad writing this review, because I've been to this place a few times and have always had a better-than-average to good time. But this time was a little rough. The punchline is; I waited nearly an hour for food that never came, and I had to leave. The context is; the head bartender (who was very nice) was training a new person, so things were running pretty slow. No biggie, it wasn't busy so we didn't feel ignored or unwelcome or anything. We came there specifically for the vietnamese wings (which, to their credit, has garnered a fair amount of notoriety in the area) but they didn't have them for supply chain reasons. Also no biggie, we ordered different wings and fish and chips. While we waited, we had a drink (a bourbon and a cola). 30 minutes came and went, others that ordered before us were eating, and the bar was getting busier. I ordered another drink and decided to close out so we could eat and run. I mentioned we were in a hurry and we wanted to be able to eat quickly and leave. 40 minutes, 50 minutes, nothing. At 56 minutes we decided to cut our losses because we didn't have any additional time to give. Again, I hate to write this, because A.) I could've told them we were in a hurry earlier, B.) I've had a really good time at this barin the past, and C.) even this time, everyone was really nice. But, at the end of the day I spent $65 on two drinks and zero food, and I now have to spend more money on food somewhere else, and that's pretty uncool. read more

Sports bar or restaurant?!? Please get a new couch or additional seating. It ruins the atmosphere. Food: for starters, the burger was really good and not dry at all, plenty of flavor. I would order this again. The wings on the other hand were extremely small and a little too crispy however the honey buffalo sauce was a nice addition, I was a fan. The fries were extremely salty, I requested tots instead, the tots were--well just regular tots, way less salty. The food took quite some time to come but I'm assuming they wanted most of the entrees to come out at the same time. This place definitely needs a face lift but it is good for what it's worth and decently priced. Drinks: nice happy hour deal, beer and shot for just $7! I love this place. I am visiting from Arizona and got recommended this bar by one of the bus services off of flat bush. It was amazing experience since I just wanted to get an adventure in even in a tropical storm. Jeffery was amazing & had a great personality. I would recommend this. The tachos are pretty amazing. But they are usually under done and smooshy. Which is strange because the funnel cake and the deep-fried Twinkies are so overdone that you can't eat them. This is one of our favorite neighborhood bars. We go here to watch sports, for their themed nights, and just to relax and unwind after work or on the weekends. The service is splendid - every staff member who works there always seems to be having a good time and knows all the locals who frequent the place. I'm sure this is a tribute to the owners who also make a point to get to know their customers. The decor is great as well - lots of throwbacks and a bartop made entirely of pennies! They have everything from barstools to comfy couches to sit on while you're there. Finally - the TOTCHOS! They have regular and vegan version and they are just the right amount of bar snack I want when I'm there. The customer service was terrible. immediately as my guest and I walked in. The Bartender Alex never gave us a menu yet we were forced to order a drink in order to sit in the backyard. We were already planning on ordering something but the bartender ALEX was aggressive when telling us to order a drink or he has to ask us to leave. We have been coming here for years. We have been respectful to the property and the servers there. We have always been able to find a seat then go inside to order our drinks and food. We always order something. We have never been forced or pressured to order something before we were seated. Alex seemed to have been pressured by new management to act this way which he kept referring to as he was pressuring us. Policing people to order drinks at a bar without properly customer servicing them Is ridiculous on top of serving drinks that were not even that good plus very over priced! Wow!! Considering I am not a fan of writing, this 3rd experience at Westbury Inn with the same bartender is worth writing about. Again!!, I purchased 3 drinks only and gave this bartender a $12 tip and wow not even a thankful gesture. This bartender instead of saying thx he continued a conversation about baseball with another patron. I too have share the experience of bartending years ago but I could not imagine not showing some appreciation for such a good customer. Despite not wanting to patronize this establishment on Thursday nights because of a similar experience with this bartender in the past, this evening has confirmed what I will tell my friends about the dry service on Thursday nights!!!! ( as I observed this "dry service " is with a particular group ) All customers $$ are valuable and could be spent elsewhere with better responses!! Popped in here on a Tuesday night. Very calm vibes, not packed at all, definitely a place to unwind and listen to some bumpin' beats with your buds and throw back some drinks. We ordered the chili cheese totchos and the buffalo chicken mac and it. was. LIT. The totchos are perfectly crunchy and gooey, buried under mounds of cheese and beans and other delicious things. The buffalo chicken mac was not at all spicy, just the right amount of cheesy and savory, and the perfect portion to share between two hungry people. I think it's unfortunate that I can't walk in and get zucchini sticks. I was told by the man behind the bar that it is probably a special delivery app only item. They don't have that many plant-based options and the vegan totchos lack consistency in their proportions and packaging. Zucchini sticks would have been my new go-to if it was available in house. I also noticed that the price points are higher in the apps than at the bar, specifically Uber eats and Grubhub (the cheaper one). I was a bit skeptical at first because my bf and I were told to seat ourselves but it turned out okay because the food and drinks are VERY AFFORDABLE, especially the food is sooooo fresh and good. We came here on a Saturday night and the bartender, Will was very nice and polite with the drinks and serving us. I actually enjoy coming here. The drinks and prices are fine. Food is decent and accessible after 5. People from this hood are cool and friendly... diverse. One small issue and one bigger one and a few others: 1. During the summer heat, the 'vintage' couch in the front seems to smell. 2. The bartender (the one who kind of looks like Louie CK) seems pretty nice.... but always asks me to put up a tab ... a few moments later, he did the same w / two black men as well. The other whites that came in the bar after me WERE NOT ASKED THIS. I'm white as well and nerdy looking AF.... so maybe I'm reading this wrong. But bartender clearly asked me and the two black men for a card and to pay promptly. The two white guys... were getting drinks w out paying or having a card on tab. 3. This bar ain't no CIELLO .... But if you need to keep cards on tab, then why not do the same to EVERYONE. I probably make more money than the other white guy sitting next to me. 4. Came here around 11:45 sat at the bar. They have other seating but place wasn't packed. Came with one friend and other was a few minutes away. We were on a mission for wings and didn't want to go so far. Came on Yelp and saw this place. Pros- drinks are OK. Fairly priced, honey buffalo wing was good, jerk wing was OK, seasoning was good but didn't want them baked. Bartender tried to help a negative situation but giving a free beer. Con's - my friend arrived literally 2 minutes after our order was placed and it was last call. Bartender took his order and came back and said cook won't cook your order. Like seriously how hard would it have been to make more wings. Douchebag. The order size of my tots was extremely small for the price. Not worth it. read more

Place was not busy early NYE, and party of 3 sat at the bar. The bartender greeted us promptly, and offered us menus. There was a quiet couch seating area and a handful of tables and chairs throughout. There was a DJ station playing some hits too so it was a nice ambiance. The menu is simple with typical bar food from burgers, tacos, chips and guacamole, to jerk chicken. They have a quick hit menu "beer and burger" etc. which makes ordering easier - these come with stout or lager. The stout was nice. I ordered the burger, and it came out a little too salty, but well cooked. It came with a side salad, but the kitchen made a mistake and brought me a full salad. The bartender gave it to me anyway. My party order chips and guacamole, and the guacamole was a little too salty as well. Side of tots was fried well, no complaints. ROACHES! a huge Roach crawled up from under the bar right in front of me and was chillin! I jumped up and told the bartender and he was like "word?" This is an average Joe from East flastbush. I've order food from this established 3 times from seamless. Consistent experience. The burger is tasty and not hard dry. The presentation and packaging is decent. Continue the good work. If you can, kindly include more fries in the order. You have take the mantle from "burger your way" in our group. Came here for the first time for brunch with my boyfriend, and honestly I was hesitant to try a new place.... but with a few nudges from hubby I gave it a shot.. also the workers inside saw us looking at the menu and asked us to come in and give it a try.. they were super duper friendly and welcoming. The brunch menu was pretty good, nice Caribbean options on there and also offers unlimited mimosas for 2 hours for $20. I enjoyed the jerk scrambler(jerk chicken omelet with peppers and onions) and hubby ordered bake and shark, also we had sweet potato fries and the home fries. My omelet was very good, the right amount of veggies and chicken, and my boyfriend enjoyed his meal.. win/win from both of us. The sweet potato fries had the best crunch and seasoning..(I loveeeedddd them).. the home fries were good, not great.. (maybe a touch more seasoning would've helped). First time I went to Westbury Inn, I had a really overpriced, underwhelming draft: $7 for a cider at 3 in the afternoon. The second time I went, I ordered nothing but my friend was hungry. She ordered food. Almost 30 minutes later, someone came back and asked us if we'd gotten our food yet. Table was empty. We said no. They said "it's on its way out" and brought us popcorn. Came in on a Monday night, me and a couple of friends wanted to eat and enjoy the football game... here's what happened... We ordered 2 burgers, an order of wings and tater tots... One burger was well done, while one was undercooked, had to send it back and decided to order wings instead. The "well done" burger was almost burnt and they forgot the cheese. When asked for the cheese, they threw the slices on there and didn't melt it. The tots and wings were supposed to be a meal, served together... but instead, the bartender forgot the tots and brought them out 15 mins later. At least they were hot Wings were good, nice crispy, smokey flavor (best part of the meal). The service was slow... and the place was not crowded. The last time we patronized this place was in May-June and the food was good. The bartender said there's a new chef... maybe not a good idea. My friend used to love the burger... now, not so much.
