I have been working with consignment originals for over 10 years at multiple locations. I work with hospice and home care patients. I am unable to get to the Wethersfield location prior to 2 PM seven days a week. I came in today at 1:55 and they would not allow me to leave my items. I kindly asked if I can come back tomorrow or make an appointment after 2 PM any day of the week and they told me no. They told me that I would have to no longer be a customer if I could not come in prior to 2 PM. This seems outlandish to me, especially given that I work with an extremely vulnerable population. I've never encountered such dissatisfactory sales service in my entire life. I would not recommend this location and I've never in my life gone out of my way to write a review on anything. I have been a shopper here for many years and also have consigned here. The last time I went to this store I was profoundly disappointed. I had twenty-six items, they only took six. They informed me that all children's clothes now must be new with tags. It had been a few years since I had been there, so I didn't know this. Nevertheless, I did have some new with tags kids items. They took two silk dresses, new, and a few other things. They rejected two Gap outfits, also brand new. They were purchased recently and were not out of style. I didn't understand this. When I checked on my balance, it was just over $10, hardly worth my time to steam them and make sure the clothes were perfect before I dropped them off. They have lost a longtime customer! read more

Consignment originals in Milford ct is the worse place to consign. I went there to consign and got robbed not only did they take my $200. Guess boots but 5 other pairs of name brand shoes from Macy's anyway they apparently sold the guess boots after 2 months and I only got $10. After another 2 months and 4 attempts to collect my money the guess boots were like new as I only wore them once when I asked where are the rest of my boots and shoes they said they no longer have them and that they sent me an email to let me know that they didn't sell and that I can pick them up. So I went through my emails at the store to show them that I'd never received such email I even went through my spam but all I got was an apology and I was told that someone would contact me about the missing items and I never even got that call. At this point I demanded that I get pay, but it was till another month and lots of excuses from them before I even received a check in the mail in the amount of $10.15 So please bring your business elsewhere or you will not be happy with the results. read more

Honestly have a pretty good selection of things here ranging from clothes/shoes to housewares and jewelry. (I pretty much found all of my winter sweaters here!) I like the organization of the clothes into different brands too! Most of the employees here are very friendly. Reasons for a lower star rating: - I always have to wait 10 minutes or more at checkout. It takes a while for each person to checkout and even if you have one person in front of you will be waiting for a while. - Prices here are a bit higher than other consignment shops. read more

I am a happy customer and consignor at Consignment Originals. The store is always full of merchandise and I almost always find one, or several, items I simply must own. They stock both consigned merchandise and new-with-tags overstocked merchandise from retailers. There is usually a good amount of "upscale" clothing and some designer wear but they also have their share of clothing from Kohl's, The Gap, and other moderate stores. Being a consignment store, you never know whether you'll find trash or treasure. I will say that while it's possible to find bargains, the staff knows the value of the consigned items and the prices are higher than you would find at a thrift store. They are very particular about what they accept for consignment and, depending who is processing your items, they may or may not take items that seem clearly wearable and of a current (or timeless) style. I have brought in items that were refused, only to bring them in another time and have them accepted. Besides clothing, they have a selection of housewares, furniture, books and DVDs/Cds/Videos, accessories, children's items, and jewelry. It's always worth an hour or two to roam the store; you never know what you'll find. read more

I honestly think that they are not the best, I have dropped off new items with tags, the dollar amount I get back is minimal. items are listed at a high price and then you end up with only a few dollars when sold. The find jewelry is not priced correctly, some prices are over what you would pay for the same item in a jewelry store. Also the staff will accept junky styles and not accept quality items.... they don't know quality when they see it. I am not a consignor here at this establishment, but boy do I love to poke around the racks here. Everything is very well organized, the items are not cramped on the racks and shelves and I think things are very fairly priced. I especially like to take advantage of the stuff that his been hanging out for more than a month and gets marked down to half price. My advice would be if you see something and really have to have it, don't wait for it to get marked down, because I have done this with 2 items and showed up the day they were supposed to get marked down and they were gone. Like other consignment shops it's hit or miss. Sometimes I find 10 things I love and others I come out empty handed. read more

I've been consigning here for about 2 years now. I usually go once a season to drop off items to sell and browse the racks while they look over my items. I have gotten some nice items here including good quality children's clothes, designer jeans, costume jewelry and handbags. Prices may be a bit higher than you expect but they are very picky about the quality. If you think the price is too high, wait and come back in a few weeks, as items get reduced after about a month and may even move to clearance. I've gotten some steals on the clearance racks. My primary business with them is as a consignor though, so I can't complain much about the prices as it benefits me ;) Lately I have been trying to raise extra cash for a trip so have really dug through the house for pack-away clothes and household items not being used and have made some nice money clearing out items I wasn't using anyway. Consignor tip: When you bring in clothes, make sure you go over them under a bright light - this will help you catch small stains or discoloration that will cause them to refuse the item and save you the trouble of bringing it in. It's taken some practice but I've got a good feel now for what they will accept. read more

I've been to this store a few times and my last trip was my most successful yet - 5 cute shirts for $28. They have a ton of clothing to browse through and the only reason I'm taking one star off is because they separate their clothing into SO many sections, it's silly. At most clothing stores, I tend to browse through ladies' and juniors' sections. Here, there's ladies' shirts, ladies' 50% off shirts, petite ladies' shirts, summer sale ladies' shirts, discount section ladies' shirts and then swap out ladies' for juniors'. I have to go through so many racks to just look at one type of clothing (i.e. shirts) butttttttttt in the end it's worth it because I found a bunch of great tops on my last visit. They do have some decor and home stuff but it's a bit fogey for my taste. I'm not sure what their guidelines are but overall the store is generally aimed at middle aged women, is my guess. I do like going once in a while as I primarily shop at Goodwill and other thrift shops. read more

You really can't go wrong when it comes to Consignment shopping. I have been going to CO since I was young (with my mom) and even remember their first Cheshire location where the now new Rite Aid is. However, the reason for the 2 star rating is simply because every time they move and expand, their prices go sky high. I have stopped coming here recently, because some of the items are simply too expensive for being second hand. I really have to dig to find deals, which I don't mind, however when I go with a specific item in mind, I refuse to pay $12.00 for a shirt that I can buy at Kohl's , TJ Maxx, etc for the same price brand new. Their consigning is OK, I have made some OK money trading in some other clothes and housewares. The racks are sometimes so overstuffed, you really need to dig. I have yet to be to their latest "Cheshire Plaza" location, but I can only assume the prices are still high. I will stick to Uptown Consignment. read more

Reviewing as a consignor: I'm new to consigning but was not a fan of my experience here. I brought in 30 items (ranging from Coach bags to designer jeans to children's clothes with the tags still on). The line to consign was half the length of the store. Everyone in line seemed upset and frustrated by the slowness. After 5 people in front of me and almost an HOUR later, I provided my items to the woman at the desk. I was told I could leave while they go through them as long as I come back by the end of the day to pick up anything they reject. When I returned, they had only accepted 7 of my items, with no explanation. In-season children's winter coats with TAGS on them, not accepted. Why? The things I see on the racks in the store are not all in style and some of it is downright ugly and frumpy, so I find this very confusing. I took the 23 other items to Uptown Consignment and they took almost all of it. And the items they didn't take, they said I could bring back for the spring season. So, I think I'll be consigning there from now on. read more

I've been associated with this store since the early nineties; probably because they were the first. It certainly has changed and not for the better. Stuck up, unfriendly salespeople. Far too pricey. I have been shopping at Consignment Originals since they were in their older location. I find the staff to be knowledgeable, courteous and willing to spend their time with individual customers. When I consign, I know they only take the best, so clothing has to be pressed and ready to wear. Whenever I am looking for something specific, I always stop here because on many occasions, they had exactly what I needed, I love this place.
