    Ticket to Drew!
    Christa M.

I was super excited to get tickets for TDBS during my NYC visit. I signed my two friends and I up and we were set with tickets. A few days prior to the big day, I received an email that this taping was going to be a "MOMS" only show. One of my friends was a male so he unfortunately was now not going to be able to join us, boo. The email also stated that we now had to be there at 11:15am instead of 2:15pm for a private screening of a new movie (Nightbitch). The day finally came (12/4/2024) and we arrived to the CBS studio! We stood in line for all ticketholders and the doors opened promptly. One by one we went inside and were greeted by a TSA style check. We were then told to head upstairs and wait for further instructions. Once the room was full, we were given lunch which consisted of a sandwich, chips, water, and cookie. Then the movie began. Once the movie ended, we were directed to the studio. We were seated and taping for the show finally began. Drew and her cute dog came out and greeted us all. Amy Adams was our special guest along with the director of Nightbitch. The taping went by quickly and it WAS finally time to leave. Exiting the building was quick and we were out of there by 4:45pm. It was such a long day but definitely a memorable one! No phones were allowed!

such an uplifting experience! the world sure needs more of these positive vibes that i took away from a mere taping session! everything seemed to line up perfectly for this trip to nyc and by chance priority entrance to tdbs? why not?! it was bitterly windy cold yesterday though but the priority queue did not look too long and it felt like we would definitely get in for this taping session via the priority check-in that starts at 1.15pm a coffee in hand did help! friendly, engaging staffers also made doubly sure no one is in the wrong queue, so do take note if you only have general entrance tickets! some walk-ins were also soundly adviced against it as they wouldn't want you queuing up for nothing in such harsh weather conditions with unlikely chances of getting in. most gratefully, was let in on time which is such a god send in such unkind ny weather! unfortunately, the one peeve i had for this was waiting, right after we entered, security screening! almost akin to all tsa experiences! just so much negativity in an otherwise positive setting! why can't they just do their job and at the same time not garner any bad karma for themselves? once past the patience testing security screening station, it was a smooth ride once again! led into a waiting room with chairs, paper to sign your waiver, free popcorn and water, restrooms break, a run down of the dos (SWITCH OFF YOUR CELLPHONES), do nots and then joey makes his appearance! the conductor of joy, a warm-up specialist will prep the audience for the upcoming actual taping session. energy begets energy and the audience, ready! last call for restrooms, well heeded. 2.30pm and we begin single filing up to the studio. the set for tdbs was definitely very photogenic! but alas no photography! :( depending on your group size and coloured clothings you had on, they assigned you where to be seated. everything very well drilled and organized. more warm up from joey ensued and cash inducements, a reality!? well, just a single dollar bill planted on the camera for you to grab as the mobile camera comes towards you, $4 in total, don't go crazy for it. the clock ticks 3pm and finally drew! such a genuine lady, full of empathy, self deflating. she's the main reason you want to be here! her other side kicks play their role but the bright light that shines is her, herself! some might not take too positively to choreographed laughs and applauses but I do think most in the studio genuinely will do it, regardless! i shall not reveal the contents of the taping session so that you can enjoy it when it does air! i can however leak that the audience did all walk away with some freebie and some of my usa based friends, who were beneficiaries, will atest to that! ;) sadly, tdbs therapeutic session had to come to a conclusion around 5pm, but drew is so welcoming that i hear whisperings of everyone wanting back here again! in these times, where mental wellness gets thrown into the spotlight ever so often, the free drew barrymore show is indeed what the doctor ordered! p.s: do watch out for me in season 5 airing on dec 20 and jan 9! :)

Prepare for a long day if you join the audience for Drew. While the morning show tickets say you have until 10am to checkin, go early because at 930, we were told they were full and to return at 1:15pm for guaranteed entry to the afternoon taping for 2pm. We were told the taping would end by 4:30pm. Definitely a long commitment. At 1:15pm there was already a big line but fortunately we were in fast due to the guarantee we got earlier. You'll go through security first as they check your bag and you walk through a scanner. You'll get a ticket and head downstairs to a waiting room. Looks like it's okay if you have a snack or water with you (some shoes make you throw it out like The View). There is a "Drew" wallpapered wall for photos. They have you complete a release form and stay seated until it's time to head up to the studio. There is a vending machine and restroom with just 3 stalls (one was broken). We found Jason Mamoa bottled water and we're excited for that. Realized later they expired in early March. They make announcements on the very last time you can use the restroom. We finally walk up a few flights up stairs on a spiral staircase after 2:30pm to head to the studio. This is where they told us cell phones must be off. Unlike some studios that allow photography when not filming, these guys announced many times to turn off phones and do not drink any beverages in the studio. A hype man comes out for quite some time. Masks are not required, but if you do choose to wear one they will make sure you wear one of their yellow disposable ones. Drew finally comes out and plops down on the edge of a chair across from her two guests. It didn't feel like the show had even started by the way she was leaning in very close to the guests to chat almost like she may fall off the edge of the seat. It felt very rehearsed and more like acting vs interviewing a couple as she was fidgeting around and flipping her hair. Drew is kind/sweet but we got a bit bored just hearing her say how much she loved the guests and they were best friends, etc. The interview lacked any depth and felt sort of fake. It seemed to go on for almost 45 minutes and then a DIY challenge was thrown in to make it active. Again, didn't feel authentic. The real savior here was adding Ross Mathews to the mix. He was a great interviewer asking the right questions and less emotional over the guests. That kept it interesting. Just when we thought the taping will end since we were told 4:30pm, it continued on with a cooking segment. Then Drew took her time to thank the audience and chat with a few folks, which was a nice personal touch. She almost cried a few times throughout the show. That took us to past 5pm. A very long afternoon. Guests received a book and a few sponsored goodies mentioned on the show. Overall, a very long taping and a bit boring. While it was cool to see Drew, you will not get any photos of her or with her. If you go in the morning you'll likely be there until 1pm and if you do an afternoon taping you may end at 5ish.

    In the waiting area.

We take a yearly trip to NYC, so he always signs up. This year, we scored and got tickets. We actually signed up for two days and got into both. Mon had the better guest lists (at least in our opinion) so we gave up the other tix. It's a process to get in, so nothing too surprising. The earlier you get there, the more of a chance you will sit closer. All in all, we were out by around 6:30pm. Tho they did add a game that was going to air on a another day with I believe the One Piece cast? A good experience if you are into talk shows. It's free, and we got a jar of carbone sauce due to mario carbone being a guest. What's there to complain about? REVIEW #4000

This was a fine experience. I'm not really a Fallon fan but the experience of watching a 'live to…read moretape' recording was pretty interested. We didn't have tickets, so we went to the gift shop at 30 rock through the 6th ave entrance to score some stand-by tickets. We arrived what I would call late, at about 11am. If you want to get these stand-by tickets I'd recommend arriving as close to 8am as you can, because every ticket is numbered and they can only fit so many people into the studio (they will always try to fill it). If I recall correctly the tickets said to come back to 30 rock at 3:15 but note - if you arrive a bit later, say 3:30, it won't effect your chances of getting in - the most you can do to increase your chances to see a show that day by walking in is to get there at 8am when they first start giving out the numbered stand-by tickets. Also, while they say you cant bring in bags, I had a smaller sized north face backpack and my friend had a large plastic bag and a small purse. If your number gets you in to see the show that day, you will pass through security like at an airport. Everything is extremely orderly and organized, the only stressful part is 'am I going to get in to see the show or did I just spend an hour and a half of my day for nothing.' My friend and I just got in under the wire, with the guy behind us being the very last person to stand-by for this day's show (there were about 56 stand-by visitors accepted that day). You will have an opportunity to use a bathroom before you sit for the filming, so don't be concerned about that. If you're a fan of TV or of Fallon you might prepare a question or two to ask him, he took a number of questions from the audience. The funniest one was 'are you going to use that entire bit you just did' because Jimmy and Drew Brees spitting pumpkin seeds went on far, far, FAR too long, about 3? minutes, which was about 2:45 longer than it needed to be. Jimmy was quick with the 'no, that's going to be edited down.'

Back when the show first aired, the cast were absolute comic geniuses and the writing was really really hilarious! From the opening monologue to the last bow, each show was beyond hilarious! Yelper Fried Barrett O., aptly describes the first episode. As always, great job, Barrett! Favorite and beloved characters of mine included John Belushi's Samurai, the Coneheads (Dan Aykroyd, jane Curtin and Lorraine Newman) - remember "We are from France!"- Gilda Radner's Roseanna Roseannadanna. I loved Chris Farley's character, Matt Foley, who 'lived in a van down by the river!" Talk about a physical comedic genius! Spin-off shows/movies like "The Blues Brothers," and "Wayne's World" were always entertaining and funny! Steve Martin hosted so many times (15, I think) that it felt like he was part of the regular cast! Martin's banjo playing and King Tut stand out as highlights of his excellent performances! Mr. Bill was another favorite SNL character! I can still hear his "OH NO!" The whole SNL production had the look and feel of rogues taking over the studio for a live performance and it always felt like we were part of the "cool kids" who were invited to the takeover! The early, first "Not Ready for Prime Time Players" felt like cool Aunts and Uncles and were so beloved! It was devastating when Gilda Radner, John Belushi, and Chris Farley died!!!! Five easy stars for the earliest years of SNL, and two stars for today. I quit watching it years ago and yes, the ratings have tanked compared to the earliest years. I think SNL is currently on season 51. I wish them well! For me, I'll always cherish the memories, characters, and general FUN from the early days! Thanks, SNL!

These days, music videos are watched far more often online than on TV. The risks are a good reason to watch or in my case, glimpse the Sunday spectacle on September 7th, which included feathery pastel boas, fluffy hats, bedazzled cups, and a Labubu doll dressed as an astronautical Moon Person! This year's ceremony aired, on CBS owned by Paramount, included Ariana Grande for video of the year; Lady Gaga for artist of the year; Rosé and Bruno Mars for song of the year ("APT."); and Alex Warren for best new artist. I WANT MY MTV!!!!!!! The early 80s+ anthem!…read more The "I want my MTV" campaign included ads where rock stars such as Pete Townsend and the Police would say "I want my MTV," endorsing the channel. Music Television officially launched on 8-1-1981, airing music videos and related programs hosted by video jockeys, or VJs. Martha Quinn, the "girl next door" VJ still hosts a daily show on Sirius XM Radio's "The 80s on 8" station. MTV dominated pop culture in the 80s! The first words when MTV initially aired were spoken by one of MTV's creators, John Lack: "Ladies and gentlemen, rock and roll." A nod, perhaps, to the iconic, legendary Lemmy Kilmister's opening of every Motorhead show with, "We are Motorhead...And We play rock and roll!" Because of MTV, I threw teenage caution to the wind and paid for my family's cable television! This was a serious commitment in 1981. My favorite artists' videos at that time were Stevie Nicks, Billy Idol, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the Police, Ratt (who's autograph I got when they came to Huntsville), U2, ZZ Top, and of course Van Halen (in the David Lee Roth or "Diamond Dave") days! Who can forget the iconic moment Courtney Cox was pulled onstage in the Bruce Springsteen video, "Dancing in the Dark?!" That was an adorable moment and probably a game-changer for her pending generations-long acting career! Stand out videos were Michael Jackson's "Thriller," "Billie Jean," and "Beat it"(all in 1983); "1999" by Prince in 1983; and Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again" featuring Tawny Kitaen in 1987. We were all glued to MTV on July 13, 1985, when MTV showed the Live Aid concerts (broadcasting 16 hours of coverage,) held in London and Philadelphia and organized by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia. The 1983 US Festival from 5/28/83-5/30/83 featured Van Halen who headlined on "Heavy Metal Day." To experience VH, my crew and I rented a hotel room (Kings Inn, S. Memorial Parkway, Huntsville - still there to this day); rounded up our 110 cameras, stocked up on fast food takeout, filled the bathtub with ice and cold bottled of Busch, and settled in to watch the show on the room's cable TV and enjoy the swimming pool. ((Good times!!)) Other than a few interesting videos in the 90s, MTV pretty much died for me in the 80s. It was a great ride, though! Thank you MTV!
