From what I can tell this is thr only bona-fide restaurant in town left after the covid mess. With Oregon just reopening people are still nervous and the like. That aside, this is a really nice down home restaurant and will be back here for sure during my stay. This time had a cheeseburger and fries, along with soft drink. Burger was slightly above average, fries were unremarkable, but the ambiance was very good. Had all sorts of old fashioned signs on the wall with different sayings, the ones that make you chuckle and go uh-huh. The Drive In is a place I've been countless times. There's been ups and downs, but it seems as time goes on it's only getting worse and worse. Don't get me wrong-- the prices & the food is pretty good. But the second I have someone in customer service be disrespectful, crosses my line. One of the younger adult males who works there was very rude to me and my group of people and it was not necessary. Came here literally because it's the only place in town to eat. Cashier/Server guy with the long blonde hair, notified us the minute we walked in and before we ordered that IT WILL BE 30min before our food would be ready. They have a list posted of some items that are not available so we settled with some bacon cheeseburgers and fries. We saw stuffed jalapeños were on the menu but just to make sure asked if these are available to order. The cashier/server guy taking our order, slapped the posted item list of what's not available and said "is it on this list, no, then we still have them" Ummm ok RUDE. The food was decent, it's a regular burger joint. I don't recommend this place due to the horrific customer service. read more

Love this place! Nothing says all American like a drive-in diner. Gubby's has one of the best western bacon cheeseburgers I have ever had in my life. Nice, thick hamburger patty, two delicious onion rings, bacon, cheddar, and lots of BBQ sauce. My mouth is watering remembering it. That with a basket of fries for only $8! Very casual; no frills here. But, its simplicity is charming. I love family-run establishments. Plus, is it air-conditioned! The food was decent. Customer service by one lady was horrible. Seems like she may always be in a bad mood, and it translates to how she treats other people. If it were not for her, I would give it a better rating. The only thing in this area is no option to eat anywhere else. I wanted to like this place, but from the minute we walked in it was a bad vibe. The girl at the counter must have been having a really bad day, we tried to engage with her and she was not having it. Very rude. The establishment enjoys sharing their views in an interesting manner with a variety of off color humor. Food was just okay. Hours can vary as we tried to go our first evening in town and the were closed during their posted open hours. We enjoyed our visit to Condon but this place definitely put a damper on it! read more

I usually don't give reviews, but this one is entirely on the customer service from a fat slob. We were passing by Condon on our way to Painted Hills. The only reason why we stopped at this place was because my kids were hungry (lunch hour). From the get-go, we got bad vibes from the fat liberal feminist slob (assuming she's a liberal and feminist) cashier/server. Totally rude when my wife and I were making the order, not wanting to engage with us. We noticed separate customers that ordered well after us got their food first than us, but I knew it was on purpose the slob was ignoring us. That's when I got up and asked for our order. Her excuse was the wait time (40 mins) which it was a bunch of bs cause right when I sat back down, the slob brought us our food (which btw was almost cold that's how we knew she was ignoring us). Overall, horrible customer service from the fat slob. The young lady was very respectful, if I were her, I would not tolerate working with that fat slob. Avoid this place at all costs!!! read more

Great stop. Had burgers/ fries/ and milkshakes (yes a healthy lunch ). Very nice people, food was good. Didn't try the pizza, but maybe next year on the way through. Nice covered outside seating (see photo) or inside with air conditioning. read more

We decided to stay in Condon for our trip south from Idaho to Central Oregon. Gubby's was recommended for good burgers and shakes. I had the Vicki burger and it was delicious. They have large selection of Shake favors and they were great after a long trip. While the food was great, it was a bit on the spendier side, but the service was great. read more

Classic American small town drive in. Stopped for ice cream on a hot day and were not disappointed.

The cheeseburgers and onion rings were exactly what I was craving. I love my burger to sport the works and was not disappointed. The onion rings with tartar sauce were perfect. Service was quick and friendly. Definitely a spot the locals appreciate. When I lived in Halfway, OR, I came to appreciate the small town atmosphere and though brief, found it here in Gubby's. People can make or break an establishment. The owners of this place must have a hard time finding employees- the old hag doing the cooking was a real winner. The burgers were fine- and the fries could have been if they had all been cooked-got a frozen one in my basket. The young worker was very nice and hard working. The old bag cook was bad mouthing a local woman who pulled in while were dinning. Another woman came in and the old bag handed her the order and told her not to put the tip in the jar because "she" (young worker" would get it. When our food was delivered I asked if we could have fry sauce (I heard a local ask for it earlier and it was delivered) but hag bag seemed very annoyed and wanted to know "how many " and I said just one for each of us(so 3) - she never returned. We were practically the kitchen so she couldn't have forgotten we were there. This kind of behavior is what gives small rural towns a bad reputation. read more

Now goes by the name "The Drive In". We were a group of two high school basketball teams in town for a basketball tournament. We couldn't even arrive for dinner until 9:30 PM, on a 20 degree icy winter night. About 30 starving kids and parents. They were willing to stay open for us if the kids pre-ordered a few days earlier. Wow! Our food was hot and ready and delicious. Burgers are their strength, but everything was very good. Some of the boys even got entire pizzas! Old fashioned crinkle cut fries (my fave because they hold max ketchup!). Owners were wonderful, friendly, funny. Went out of their way to accommodate us!
