Beef is supplied by Carman Ranch, woman owned rancher near Joseph Oregon. Also had a tossed salad loaded with lots of fresh produce. See the pics! We had the veggie lentil soup, the beet and hazel nut salad and the Ruben Sandwich. I thought all three were excellent! My husband who enjoys a more heavy diet was not equally as impressed. Everything was very flavorful and well prepared. I loved the fresh healthy feel of the meal and left very satisfied! The service was fine, they got our order wrong so it ended up costing alot more money and we ended up with alot more food than we had been planning on. My husband ordered the half sandwich and half salad but they gave him full of each. The pastrami was not typical pastrami.But the gal said it wasn't vegan. The ambiance was very self serve and fine. I've gone to Farm Stand for years, but this is my last try at this location. The veggie "bowl" came on a plate, with vegetables that were oversalted, beans cold and not salted at all, and cold, rubbery eggs. I wanted a salad but they said that there was no dressing, even though they are located inside a grocery store. I asked for a plate and was handed one that had been used in the kitchen (not clean), and there were no clean knives when we got there, and no utensils at all later. read more

Visiting out of town and so grateful I found this place! Excellent selection of healthy snacks and staples, and I peeked at pharmacy that has lot of natural options too (biggest selection of my favorite herbal tea brand!). Deli was another pleasant surprise: Gardentastic salad greens were super fresh and crunchy, turkey club "tasted like homemade" according to the kids, and we also tested the smoothies- strawnana and crazy cacao. I ordered a kale salad. I have had many kale salads before, but this one was the worst. The kale, which was cut in huge chunks, was not tenderized properly (or ever). There were very few tomatoes, and the dressing was tasteless. I was very disappointed. read more

Summary: Make sure you have money to burn and lots of time to do it. Store: It caters to a specific crowd and I'm glad they have the choices provided. This town needs more variety. However, I'm not into all the health fads. Therefore, I've never heard of half the things in here and this store is way too expensive for me. I bought a bell pepper once, because that's all I needed and I happened to be downtown. Never again. I get that small stores charge more for their inventory, I expected it to be a little more expensive but paying nearly 4x the average grocery store price for a bell pepper that is half the average size is not worth the mark up. If you want normal, everyday foods, this is not the store I would choose. Deli: Great food, only using fresh ingredients in salads and sandwiches, and fresh fruit in their smoothies. No pre-mixed anything! However, it is expensive, and extremely slow. There is no sense of urgency to serve the customer and get the food out quickly. If you only have 30 min for lunch, you will probably make it back to work on time, but you'd better plan to eat at your desk, because there is no way you will have time to order it and eat it too. Even just ordering a smoothie, with no one else in line, is a minimum 10 min visit. I have visited this deli multiple times in an effort to give them a chance to redeem themselves, maybe they were just having an extremely busy hour, but it just doesn't get any better. As a business, if you are going to charge that much, you'd better back it up with stellar customer service, and keep employee conversations professional. Customers are listening, be mindful. I wish I could just stop in on impulse to grab a smoothie, but that just isn't in the cards. I have to plan in advance and make an event of it. read more

Food choices are good, if you want soup and sandwiches this is the place with great options. Gluten free and vegan available. Good smoothies and they even split one into two cups for us to share. The store it's in has great selections too. The service is friendly and helpful. The ambiance is open to the store and a little cool. The chairs are metal so hard and cold. Not bad but not great. Brand new, still figuring out where to put the coffee urn. This is a store combined with fresh food made to order. The workers were very accomodating and friendly. They let me have an egg sandwich for breakfast fairly late in the day. It was very good, and the beet-and-hazelnut salad was also very good. One customer, a retired firefighter, said to the grocery cashier, "Is there an unhealthy section?" to which the young cashier replied with a smile, "I have the same question." They even had really good locally-fermented kimchi on the grocery shelves, which I was permitted to eat with my breakfast. This part of The Dalles appears to be almost dead---no one around even on a Friday evening---except for this place. read more

Everything is way overpriced and unaffordable to most people. The people who work here seem like brainwashed cult members. The food is mediocre, and overpriced. Their chicken is dry AF. I have tried a couple salads and their salad dressings are OK but lack flavor. I tried their Asian chicken wrap and was very disappointed. You guys need to use some lime, peanut butter, and maple syrup... you need help!!! The tomatoes in the wrap were obviously beyond their life expectancy and the wrap itself was a cold tough tortilla. I paid $28 for two wraps! I had to bring them home and throw the tortilla away, pick out the old mushy tomatoes, and completely remake the sauce. Honestly I'm so happy to have a health food store in The Dalles, but this store is missing the mark in many ways. I truly hope you guys manage to get it together so that you can stay in business. Consider lowering your prices to make your market more accessible to normal people, and consider getting some help with your recipes so that the sting isn't so bad! Good luck! read more

I didn't get anything to eat at this time, but I did peruse the menu and found multiple items I was interested in. The area they did make items was clean and very nice!
