Guys, this place is part of the original definition of Northgate and College Station. Many bars come and go but this is a staple. I have lived in many cities and I can never find other shot bars, which leads me to believe these people are geniuses. One group of 5 walks in and within 10 minutes, they've dropped $60 in shots, easy. Here's how it all works: you go in the front or back door, belly up to the bar, order your first round of shots. You meander down the bar a little, belly up again and order your second round. This proceeds until you're at the end and proceed out the other door and on to the next place (after playing in bottle cap alley). I miss this place. It's dingy, it's small, it's Texas and it's perfect. Even the bartenders are nice. Do yourself a favor and stop by! The Chocolate Cake shot is always one of my favorites. read more

I love the Dry Bean Saloon. If you want shots - this is the place to go. Don't want shots? Go somewhere else. The staff is super friendly (and patient) and willing to give you their opinion on whats they think is good. They do a very good job of making the drinks and also are very good about giving you the right bill. This place can get very crowded very quickly due to the narrow size and shots start flying around very quickly. I'm not sure how they keep track of it all, but its very much appreciated. If you're going to Northgate - you must stop here. read more

It is what it is, a dumpy, cramped shot bar that smells like the sins and mistakes of the previous night. There are only 2 individual bathrooms, so if you really gotta go, go somewhere else before hand. This place is great on an off night, because you will not have any wait and you can actually talk easily. If you want to just hang out any night, the patio is great. If you are only ordering basic shots or drinking beer on a busy night, go to the back patio bar. If you go, you must try the flaming Dr. Pepper. Also I am a big fan of the Leprechaun, goes down super easy. Be warned, if it is a busy weekend night,especially the night after an Aggie win, this place gets packed. You will have to rub up next to someone to get through the bar, just hope they are fit and attractive, definitely a good icebreaker. read more

I was physically assaulted at Dry Bean saloon. A 6 foot tall bouncer grabbed my shoulders and pushed me to the ground when we were already outside of the bar. I am 5 feet tall and weigh around 115 pounds. He kicked out my friend who's 21st birthday it was, which is definitely his right as a bouncer. When I asked him his name on our way out, he wouldn't give that to me. I started doubting whether he worked there or not and felt uncomfortable by the whole situation. That's when he grabbed both of my shoulders and threw me on the ground. He didn't push me out of the door or shove me outside. He GRABBED MY SHOULDERS AND THREW ME TO THE GROUND. I was sober and questioning his name. As a bouncer, it is his job to keep people out who are too drunk, I understand, but it is not his job to throw out women half his size. I reached out to their management and their attorney called me. He apologized for the fact that I had a "bad experience" at their bar and tried to stand up for the fact that we were all too drunk and being kicked out and thrown to the ground was the best option. I asked him if it was usual for their bouncers to throw women to the ground and he said "well when they are being uncooperative and mouthy." I got police involved. read more

I've been to other shot bars in other cities, and I've had shots made in other bars on Northgate, but the Dry Bean is, hands down, the best place for shots that I've found. The shots are delicious (well, depending on what you get!), unique, and there's a huge selection to choose from. I've never had problems with the bartenders--either they come across as curt simply because they're efficient (which I don't mind), or they're fairly chatty and helpful about what to order, depending on the size of the crowd they're juggling. Pro tip: If one side of the bar is PACKED, try walking to the other side. I don't know why this happens, but people tend to clump up only on one side of the bar, but if you wade through the mass and get to the other bar on the other side, it's generally pretty empty and you can order much more quickly. read more

This place is THE spot to go if you are seeking to get buzzed or drunk in a hurry....the only way to get alcohol into your system faster would be IV injection, and I'm pretty sure that's both deadly and illegal. The Dry Bean Saloon is an ALL SHOT bar. No cocktails, no beer, no margaritas, no "on the rocks", nope...its SHOTS, SHOTS, and wait for it........ SHOTS! But, don't look so sad there partner! They have shots to please the whole family! They have strong shots, weak shots, girls shots, manly shots, sweet shots, savory shots, spicy shots, hot shots, cold shots, fruity shots, sour shots, red shots, blue shots, green shots, yellow shots, pink shots, purple shots, white shots, brown shots, tan shots, striped shots, muti colored rainbow shots, tasty shots, and nasty shots. Basically, they have every shot you have ever heard of, and TONS you have never heard of and will never see outside of this bar. One of my favorite shots here is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Its a tri-colored layered shot that looks good and tastes grrrrreat! The bar is long and very narrow...barely wider than an Alley. It gets absurdly packed on Thurs-Sat nights, and sometimes there is a door man to control the number coming and going. There is just about enough room for 3 people deep between the bar and the back wall, so that leaves very little walking room. As a result, you better be prepared to get in CLOSE contact with other patrons around you. Feels a little like being on a NYC subway at rush hour, or like being a sardine in a tin can. But, this is all part of the "dry bean experience", so just relax and go with it. If you are claustrophobic, this may not be the bar for you. Overall, I love love love the Dry Bean! One of my favorite shot bars ever! Oh and if you go with someone you don't like, or just want to pull a gag on one of your friends, offer to buy them the "super delicious secret shot". Let's just say, Tabasco does NOT make everything better! read more

I'll preface this by saying we dropped in during a football game so there were about 4 other people total in the bar at that time so we had the bartender to ourselves. We got "Green Frogs" (I think) and what the bartender called a "Blowpop" and they were both incredible. The place smelled a little like stale beer but what do you expect, it's a college bar. Dry Bean opened in early 90's when I was attending A&M. Located next to Duddley's Draw, it was a dangerous combination since it was a walkthrough bar. Order a shot, drink, move on. A two minute transaction. Very efficient. read more

Hands down favorite bar of all time. Cheap shots, fast service unless you're the jerk that shoves girls out of your way. Bartenders take notice of punks and take care of good customers on their first visit or thousandth. Try the "jellyfish" and "tender ass" shots along with the "pineapple upside down cake" and "Costa Rican bull rider" shooters. OR let the bartender pick one for you or make something off the menu. I've been going to dry bean for the past 2 years. My girlfriends and I went for a drink and went to use the bathroom. While in there, someone started banging the door and we questioned why they banged the door. It was an employee and she kicked us out. The manager kicked us out as well and as an girl of minority descent, it felt really biased. We only questioned the rude behavior and still suffered the consequences. Oh, how I have some fond memories of The Dry Bean. So, it has been a few years since I've been, but I do want to say that their shot selection is extensive, and they have good shots, too. I won't comment on the prices, or cleanliness, since it's been a while since I've been and these things have arguably changed. However, I think the really narrow set up is part of it's charm, it's conducive to meeting new people, too. And believe it or not, in this set up I've never had my butt grabbed, like I have a few times at Harry's, where there is, ironically, plenty of space. read more

This establishment does not recognize my Indonesian Identity Card because it was a piece of paper instead of a plastic card. Also, since not everyone in this world has access to laminating machine, it did not want to accept it because I have not laminated the ID card. Obviously, it does not realize that more than half of the world does not enjoy the privileges that this establishment does. The comments made about the Indonesian ID, which was signed by the legal authority, were abominations and insults to the international community. I'm sorry, Dry Bean. My ID was only a piece of paper with the coat of arms of Indonesia and the signature and stamp of the mayor of Jakarta, the Indonesian Capital. Clearly, it was not good enough for you. read more

The Dry Bean was ok. It's just a shot bar. I guess if you're a tourist [which we were] it's a novelty to experience. They have over 100 shots/shooters and that's all they sell... It is a very narrow building and you won't want to stay long. It was nostalgic and it's perfect for a pit stop. read more

This place may have been a great idea for CS 15 years ago, but today it is just dirty. It always smells bad inside, and the shot prices are pretty high. It has a decent porch in the back, as long as it isn't raining (the water drips through the old roof). Bottom line, there are better choices for drinks on NG. read more

I used to really enjoy going to dry bean, however the bartenders can be beyond rude sometime. Its unfortunate its turned into such a place. The bouncers are usually great and easy to talk to (only thing they have going for them). Be cautious on certain days it can become a nightmare to get a shot. This place is so awesome! They have so many shot choices you won't find anywhere else! Their carrot cake shot is to die for, as is their road head shot. Their blow job shot is a must have for any girl turning 21! You do have to fight crowds there but that's because it is so good. Once you make your way to the counter and try one of their shots, you will never make a trip to Northgate without stopping in; it was a staple for me while I was at A&M and I still always stop in there when I return for visits! The bouncer would not let my friend and a group of 10 of us in (all legal) for her 21st birthday because they thought she had a fake ID and handled the whole situation inappropriately. The bouncer was insulting her, mocking her, and strongly questioning her ID. It was strange considering she's truly of legal age and we had already been to other bars before we stopped at the dry bean and they gladly welcomed her with friendly greetings. The bouncer was very rude and abused his power. I will never return here; no bar with rude and inappropriate employees deserves our services. read more

Went to grab our first shots for the night (flaming Dr Peppers that are flamesless btw) after the NFL game around 9pm on a Sunday night (1/23/17). After we got our shots, we were asked to leave (by the tall Caucasian male bouncer with blondish/brown?? hair wearing a cap and hoody) because there was "throw up" in the men's bathroom and we were supposedly their first customers (which we weren't because there were other male customers in there sitting/standing at the bar that we had to walk through to get inside). My group was not even drunk and this was my first shot for the night, that wasn't even much of a shot--all I tasted was Dr pepper, lol. So how are we even past the level of needing to vomit? He just automatically assumed it was us after we have already paid out. Was it because we were finished drinking and hanging out without buying more alcohol? Or was it something more bias? Whatever his reason was, it did not leave a good impression as my 2nd visit to the establishment. He should have politely asked us "as paying customers" if we were the ones responsible for the accident in the men's bathroom, instead of automatically pointing fingers. Btw, it's because I AM sober that I can write this complaint right now. BYE. read more
