This was my first visit to Charlotte and I arrived starving. The Dumpling Lady was a perfect choice for a quick tasty meal. I devoured a lunch special- spicy beef noodles and pork and chive dumplings. Note: you have to get the same dumpling flavor for all 4 pieces. The spicy noodles are made with ground beef, veggies and their signature chili sauce and beef juices. The flavor was excellent and spicy- the restaurant scales say a 3, but I'd say it's a 4. I enjoyed every bite.

Best dumplings in Charlotte! So happy they have a brick and mortar location now outside of the hussle and bustle of Optimist Hall.

Yes. Just yes. If you're debating getting food from here, just do it. Everything, and I mean everything, is delicious, flavorful and light. The ingredients shine, the spices kick and you want to come back bite after bite. The chili crisp is not for the weak, but man is it so delicious!

Ohhhh how I love her Sweet Pork Belly dumplings. They have the most delectable and delicate thin wrappers with copious amount of meat that is moist and packed with flavor. Each bite is an explosion of chilling oil, onion, and five spice which plays well with the sweet pork belly. Its cute and cooked so its not greasy or crispy but succulently moist. I also order the classic Dan Dan which isn't too spicey but has a nice kick. I came during dinner and received these huge portions. I typically get the lunch portion which is more than enough to satiate my hunger. I forgot how l massive the regular portions are. I had some left for lunch the next day. Its great to share too.

I ordered takeout and this place was great! They only took like 4 minutes to have my food ready and packaged up. It's a smaller restaurant and I would definitely say it's more of a place I would want to do takeout rather than dine just based on my personal preference. I got the sweet pork belly dumplings and the garlic green beans. Both were so good and a perfect amount of food for 2 meals for me. It also came with a free side of rice which was a nice surprise and the flavor on everything was very good!

The owners of The Dumpling Lady are actually Asian so I was excited to try some authentic food! The server /manager inside was so nice and helpful with all of my questions. It's great to actually get some authentic street food in Charlotte! Loved the scallion pancakes and the leek pork belly. Really enjoyed my meal! Be aware of the spice levels! Excited to be back to try more items on the menu!

I ordered to go while at Hi-Wire across the street. I ordered Shrimp & Chicken dumplings, Pork & Chives dumplings and smashed cucumbers. Everything I ate was so tasty. However, I did not taste any shrimp in the dumplings so I suspect they packed me chicken dumplings. I ordered online and my food was ready on time. If you've never been to The Dumpling Lady it might be hard to miss.

This location offers a lot of the same items the main location offers. What I like is that they don't put the chili oil on top of the dumplings but offer it on the side. Everything was tasty. My favorite items were the Cumin Beef Noodles and the Fried Rice. The Cumin Beef Noodle had some spicy flavor but it wasn't too spicy. The noodles are thick and absorb all the flavor from the cumin sauce. The fried rice is light and airy. It was mild and was a delight to cool the palette. This location is small. There aren't many tables and it's not good for large groups. We only had 4 in our party and it was hard to eat family style with the available seats. Some guest left and we were able to move and make it easier to share the dishes. Customer service was phenomenal and the small group of employees were mighty. Had delivery to my hotel tonight from the dumpling lady. I have to say it I was very tasty. Although a bit on the oily side. I had the thin sliced pork belly with leeks. Loads of flavor. I bet this dish hot and fresh straight from kitchen would have been amazing. Also had scallion pancake. Really greasy but had great chew. Definitely a solid 4 stars.

If you're on a long haul drive, let's say from New York down to Alabama and happen to stop in Charlotte and perhaps you stayed at the hotel near the airport, you should definitely order from here. I would say this is homestyle as dumplings get. I got the pan fried style with the Sichuan oil, the fried rice and then the obligatory tea. I did also pick up a mason jar of chili oil because I just needed some spice for the month and a half I was going to be spending in school. This will remind me of some of the dumplings I've had in Chinatown in New York City, even with the delivery, the edges were crispy as you can see in the pictures and the fried rice had chopped green beans in it. That was still fresh and had a good crunch. Portions are just right, I didn't feel uncomfortable after throwing down the dumplings & the rice. It wasn't oily or super greasy.

    Pork belly and dumplings!

Now that I've been here a few times I'd like to update my review. Still awesome! Key word: Consistent. Every visit the staff are friendly, helpful and patient. The food is crazy good (cumin beef this time). 5 or so visits now and I'm all in on this place! PS The grocery items are definitely a must see.

I've been chasing good, authentic (or nostalgic?) Chinese food, and I finally found some while visiting the area. The space is bright, open, and comfortable. The menu is wide-ranging with lots of Asian options. They have carts if you'd like to get items that way. We ordered off the menu. We took a ride share, so I'm not sure about the parking situation. The area is walkable. Love: General Tso's chicken (sauce as I remembered, crispy, fresh), fried rice (cooked just right), Boba tea (delicious) Like: service (kind, helpful, left without checking on us one last time with the check)

Unfortunately, the actual experience was nothing like the hype. First, parking is a nightmare. I would seriously add an extra 20-30 minutes just to find a spot. Once we finally made it inside, we waited another 30 minutes to be seated. After sitting down, it took close to another 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order, and then roughly another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. So you're potentially looking at well over an hour and a half of waiting and inconvenience before you really get to eat. And the dim sum cart that brought us there in the first place? We never saw one. They did have a dim sum menu that we could order from, but that was not the experience being promoted in the videos we had seen. The food itself was just okay. Nothing was terrible, but nothing justified the hype or the amount of time and hassle involved. If you've had good dim sum in places like New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, or San Francisco, this isn't remotely in the same league. Between the parking, the long waits, slow service, missing dim sum cart, and average food, I genuinely don't understand the crowds. Hard pass for us. Once and done.

As a Bay Area foodie, I'm always searching for Chinese food that gives me that same feeling I get in San Francisco or Houston's Chinatown. Lam's comes close. The ingredients taste fresh, everything is made to order, the proteins are tender, and the flavors have depth without being heavy or overdone. This visit, I ordered the scallion beef, and it was excellent--tender beef, plenty of scallions and onions, and beautifully seasoned. I asked for something spicy on the side, thinking sambal or hot chili sauce, and they brought me chili crisp. Perfect. And yes, I know sweet and sour pork can sound cliché, but theirs deserves some respect. It's made with cubes of tender pork, bell peppers and pineapple, and the sauce isn't cloyingly sweet. The quality of the pork makes the dish. I'm already looking forward to the leftovers. Other favorites include the string beans with ground pork and the beef with broccoli. Both are stellar. They also have an extensive dim sum menu. It's ordered from the menu rather than served from carts, which means there's plenty more for me to work my way through. There's something comforting about eating here. Seeing families gathered around the tables enjoying Chinese food sometimes makes me a little homesick for meals out with my mom. Food has a funny way of doing that. The restaurant itself is clean, comfortable and nicely air-conditioned, with a large live seafood/lobster tank. Service is friendly and fast. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and there's an easy parking lot right outside. Lam's Kitchen has earned a permanent spot in my rotation. I'll happily keep making the drive to Matthews and eating my way through the menu. Life is too short not to eat well. Get out there and find your next meal.

Within the first 20 minutes, our first dish arrived and it was excellent...But then...nothing. We waited, and waited, and waited. An entire hour passed before the next dish appeared. I pulled the waitress aside to check on the delay, she explained they had a sudden influx of customers but she'd ask the kitchen to move a little quicker. The food did start coming out after that, and the managers came over to address the delay, which I appreciated, but the damage was done. I wanted a memorable birthday experience for my daughter, and unfortunately it ended up being a bit of a disappointment considering the time and cost. The food itself was delicious, but poor pacing and lack of attention to the customer overshadowed the entire experience. I didn't ask for compensation but the managers took it upon themselves to comp my wine flight. I hope this was a one off experience but I can't say that I'll return to this restaurant.

All the cheap Charlie items, like signs for "5% discount for cash" and a small buffet of the cheapest rice and noodle items for lunch are there. And this was a very nice, casual restaurant with great food. We were seated. The place-mat menus were the same, but very much beaten up, creased, warn and dirty. And not everything on the menu is available. Yep, maybe still saving the expense of new menus? Wife had Mu Shu pork with the pancakes and she was pleased with it. I had their Special Trio with broccoli, beef, chicken, shrimp in a spicy brown sauce. It turned out to be as I previously had tasted. Portion was smaller than before. Server was Tony, a man who did well and spoke English well. I doubt that we will be regulars here as we search for other Chinese options. It might come back if business slacks, which is already happening. Let us know what you think.
