At the end of the night as we're getting ready to go back home, we went back for one last drink. We both presented valid, unexpired South Carolina driver's licenses that were genuine and in good condition. At the door, the bouncer told us they don't typically accept South Carolina IDs, but ultimately allowed us inside. When we went to order drinks, the bartender refused to serve us, claiming our IDs had "scanned as fake." When we questioned that, we were then told they didn't actually have an ID scanner. We even offered to have local law enforcement verify that our IDs were legitimate, but they still refused to serve us. We completely understand the importance of checking IDs and appreciate that businesses have to be cautious. However, being given conflicting explanations and feeling like our valid out of state IDs were dismissed without a legitimate verification process was frustrating and embarrassing. If there is an official policy regarding South Carolina IDs, it should be clearly communicated. If there isn't, I hope management addresses this so other visitors with valid out of state identification don't have the same experience.

Our waitress was very friendly and explained the menu since we hadn't been there before and pointed out specials available during the week. My husband got the clam chowder soup, my son got wings with sauce on the side. I chose the nachos that came out in a big charcoal can and the waitress lets them dump out on the plate from the bottom of the cab. Neat presentation but felt all the good stuff then ended up at the bottom and you had to dig through. The food was average. I also got the house margarita which was a great price but it watered down fairly quick. Overall, I'd try it again.

As we approached, I couldn't help but notice the theme and restaurant chain vibe it gave off. Not to mention, they have a to go window, if you're into that sort of thing. If I'm eating out, I prefer the full-service dining room. I haven't seen both options: takeout window & dining room. Sure, there's an option to order to go at a full-service restaurant. What a fab option to bring something special lhome for someone after your meal. Especially, if they can't make it out to a restaurant due to physical constraints. But, this restaurant has a window with full service to go options. Is it to go or a full service sit down restaurant with a menu to order? It's both? And, probably very taxing on the back of the house and their employees. The service inside can improve a bit. It wasn't incredibly friendly but wasn't unfriendly. It was ok. Also, fish fry Friday was packed and the table behind us sent back their fish. The manager caved and gave them their meal on the house. My mom and I were ok. We didn't have alcohol or anything too crazy. She had the fish fry and enjoyed the sweet potato fries. I had a Cobb salad and it was good. They got all of my weird requests correct. Overall, it wasn't the worst experience but it wasn't the best either. Maybe it was the fish fry Friday madness. But, the restaurant wasn't as good as its hyped up to be by the locals.

We started with the Smoked Fish Spread, and it was fresh, flavorful, and one of the best we've had. Definitely worth ordering. I had the Stuffed Shrimp (currently $33) with hush puppies. The shrimp were cooked well, and the cocktail sauce was excellent. My only suggestion would be to skip serving it on a bed of lettuce. Once the hot food is plated, the lettuce just ends up wilted and unnecessary. My wife ordered the Grouper Reuben, and it was outstanding. The grouper was perfectly cooked, the fillet was generous, and the sandwich was delicious. The drinks were good, and the atmosphere was fun and lively. The best part of our visit was our bartender, Kassi. Even with a full bar, she was friendly, attentive, and never seemed rushed. We especially enjoyed talking with her about her military connection--it added a personal touch to an already great experience. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Homosassa. Great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere.
