Went in here on Sunday morning for breakfast. It was busy at 10:00 and we had to wait 20 minutes for a booth by the window. Our server was friendly and we ordered the classic breakfast for $6.99. Instead of the home fries we got the mini kiddie/pan cakes. What a great meal, lots of thick cut bacon, hot eggs, dense pancakes, and great tasting coffee that they constantly refilled. Great tasting food and they make you feel like your at the restaurant with the decorated bags.

Admittedly, yes, the decor is cool: great art on the walls, lots of big & comfy booths, high ceilings, and pleasant front-of-house staff. However, the breakfast I just had was the personification of rubbish. The eggs were gristly and tasteless, the homefries were okay if home is 3 kilometers away -- they were lukewarm to cold, at best, and like the eggs, tasteless (it would seem "seasoning" is a four-letter word in this kitchen). Also, the sausage: the lowest grade sausage available on the market -- it has to be -- It was loaded with sodium and so shriveled it looked like a goose turd. Lastly, and this really pissed me off. When I sat down at the counter I put eyes on the pass (where the cooks pass the food to the wait staff). There was an order of toast sitting there. When the cook put up my breakfast 8-10 minutes after I order (it was a slow morning), she--the cook--simply slid the old toast next to my breakfast. Who knows how long it'd been there? Is the restaurant THAT dedicated to saving money that they serve old toast? What's worse is the server didn't care either; she was the only server on at the time and had to know full well the toast was old. Ugh. The kitchen was also choc-a-bloc full of Sysco branded boxes holding generic, awarded-to-the-lowest-bidder, food. I know food suppliers and Sysco branded food is not good. Stear yourself clear of this breakfast joint. There is so, so much better throughout the Ancaster/Dundas/West Hamilton region. The Valley Charcoal is better, Sammy's is better, Maple Leaf is better. In the spring, when the golf courses open up, any one of them is better. Eating at golf course doesn't have to equate to playing golf. Think about it. read more

The parking lot was packed and we expected a long wait to be seated. We were seated nearly right away. This place is huge inside. We had already eaten breakfast and ordered cheeseburgers and salads for lunch. The cheeseburgers were well cooked, juicy and flavourful. Salads were fresh and dressing (balsamic) tasted home made. The burgers were home made with no fillers. Awesome. The salads had more cucumbers, tomatoes, celery and other add ons than any salad we have experienced in a very long time. We were waited on immediately and our drinks came right away. A great family restaurant experience. We are new to the area and will definitely be back. read more

Amazing, consistent, fast and friendly. The big egg and I breakfast. Discovered this place by accident while passing by and it blew us away. Amazing food, cooked perfectly , the staff are phenomenal! We drove from Georgetown 2 weeks later and it was exactly the same experience. Going back this weekend! It's a family restaurant but it's done nice.cute dinner coffee mugs. The Egg and I in Ancaster is a terrific family restaurant. Our table for seven was ready within five minutes of arrival. The hamburgers, fish and chips and omelettes (Dante is really hot) were delicious and portions generous. The service was excellent and we are looking forward to a repeat visit. read more

Me and my husband randomly went here when we seen it driving past. The service was really good, and the food was pretty good too. The prices were slightly high for a diner restaurant but that may be because I'm from a different city with a different price range im used to at diner type restaurants. Overall was very happy and will be going back next time we pass by and need a quick and yummy bite to eat. Also the decor was super cute with all kinds of egg art all over, and a really nice diner/family restaurant type of feel. read more

Fun, fun, fun and good, good, good. Lots of pictures of Salvador Dali-esque eggs adorn the walls of the little strip mall diner. But the dishes themselves are seriously good egg dishes with a friendly staff. Food arrives quickly and the price is competitive. read more

THE worst breakfast I have had. Bacon was precooked,greasy,luke warm right out of a vat. Eggs were not fully cooked and runny. Hash browns were mushy,watery,and just plain gooey tasting. Sausages were burnt,shriveled,luke warm and once again from a precooked vat. All 3 of us had " issues" during the next 3 hours from stomach cramps to scoots. The waitress was very pleasant but NEVER will understand why this place is so called popular. I hear they changed owners a few months back...well, hopefully many others dont return and force these owners to sell. read more

Normally I have no complaints about this restaurant but last weekend my husband and I went and I was so turned off by the long wait to order..the long wait for our food ..and even wait for our bill! We were there for an hour and a half total and ten minutes of that spent eating. The food was good at least. And it wasn't particularly busy at the time. Sorry ..no tip left read more

So I go here for supper a few weeks ago, my Wife was out and I didn't feel like cooking, Waitress came and ordered a steak sandwich and it was garbage the steak was so tough and full of gristle, I asked to see the manager after the waitress just shrugged when I complained and was told " He has had to go home " ??? the waitress said " I have texted him " and I could see her all the time from where I was sat and she had not even picked up a phone at all, So I put it down to her lying and went away. Today we went for lunch, we were short of time and it is close ( and wonderful for breakfast I must add ), We got the very same waitress as the last time I went for supper, She came to the table and said " You know what you want " so I said could we have menus please, So she went and got menu's for us Breakfast menus , ( There is a difference ) and she disappeared, we were the only people in that section of the restaurant, We were short of time so when she came rather than asking again for the lunch menu My wife ordered a beet salad and I asked for a BLT on white with back bacon, off she goes. She comes back after ten minutes with my Wife's salad and looks right at me and ask's " Where is your order----- what did you order " and off she goes, ten minutes later she come back with a COLD BLT on burnt brown bread and no back bacon. Then scurries off so I am sat there deciding what to do and she is no where to be seen, so I ate it and when I am half way through the second half of the sandwich she comes smiles sweetly and says " everything good " so I say " actually no, I ordered this on white with back bacon " she looks at me for a while then say's " I make you another " ????? so I said " No thank you we have to go we are in a hurry may we have the bill please ", she goes and gets the bill then looks at me and says " oh i lose your coffee for you for cooks mistake ". This is the last time we ever go here for lunch or supper. The other young Ladies working here are terrific but this one is awful and the quality of the food is really going literally to the dogs. read more
